It is a good price on Amazon and the V1.0 is the best edition.

nothing..
usually later versions are more improvedunless they decided to take away features or use cheaper/lower quality parts
Unfortunately, gigabyte do use cheaper parts, Realtek is the worse one compare to RZ616 and AX210.Moreover, they also downgraded PWM controler, but in this price even V1.3 I think it is good deal
Based on what I've read, the OP is bad information.
V1.0 = AMD wifi (apparently the worst of the bunch), BT 5.2
V1.1 = Intel wifi, BT 5.3
V1.2 1.3 = Realtek wifi, BT5.3Also apparently V1.0 is most likely to have coil whine and V1.3 least likely.
From user perpective, why do you care about layers? The mobo has specs, if it doesn't meet them it goes to warranty.
I think it means potentially better shielding which could mean supporting faster RAM
@BROKENKEYBOARD: Sounds like placebo. Faster than the speeds mentioned in the specs or than what? How faster? Which memory timings and voltage are affected? Is that "faster" measurable?
Gigabyte always downgrades after the first edition to earn more profits. ROG strix and AORUS PRO both use 8-layer PCB.
Would rather pay the $50 extra and get one locally with no coil whine.
actually have the 1.0 board for intel, one day coil whine appeared “sometimes” thought might have been load related, did a bios update and has never come back, not sure if it’s the same fix for the amd version.
Gigabyte boards are notorious for coil whine..
also they don't seem to be as durable or long lasting..
Also famous for their BIOS lottery, where they don't properly test the BIOS before releasing it.
I had this with Asus ROG.
Yeah I'll never buy another gigabyte motherboard after continual issues with their flakey bios
@9839002: What would you get instead?
@TeamSAXON: I actually have no idea and would probably refer to reviews at the time of purchase to find an alternative.
Also its a complet PITA to find the right bios to upgrade, its like they hate their users.

I bought gigabyte x670 aorus master rev 1.1 3weeks ago for $570 ($511 with coupon I had) amazon US import. They're $638 atm.
No point in waiting for 800 series next month, pretty much same mobo with usb 4 just cost more and current mobo won't be discounted either.yea, I guess it is because Intel still has trouble in 13,14th
800 series motherboards use the exact same chip-set silicon as the 600 series. :)
adding extra default features that motherboard makers can change around anyways and calling them 800 is a re-badge. Nothing more nothing less.
Don't buy this. I have it and it has that annoying RED VGA LED light problem (which also happens on other Gigabyte boards). (see reddit for details)
The computer needs to be restarted (button press on your case) in order for you to use your monitor. Some days it starts fine. Most days it doesn't.
Obviously it only happens with certain combos of hardware - but it's common enough for it to be posted on Reddit.
I've sent mine in to be tested and it comes back with no problems. Started 6 months into ownership…
Which revision and card? Does it affect all the revisions?
I have v1.0.
From my search on reddit - seems to affect all revisions. Even other boards.
Sorry to hear about ur experience, it seems is the problem from AMD or the bios setting?
It's not a bios setting. I've tried everything I can think of. Bios updated as well. No change.
I used this board to build my wife's computer, pretty much on release day. This same problem happened maybe 3 times for us, in the time it's been running. A restart always fixed it, and we were never really able to diagnose if it was the motherboard, GPU (4080 Gigabyte Aero), or the monitor that was the root cause.
She's not complained of any coil whine, and it was news to me that this was an issue. My main complaint was RAM instability using the auto settings, ended up having to manually set voltage/speed for it to work properly (going off memory here). Has been good since though.
You are lucky.
I run a 4080 as well. I suspect it might be due to the GFX, but it also happened when I tried my old RX580…
Yes Ram was a problem with early bios releases. It's perfectly fine now on F30.
Turns out I used a slightly different board - Gigabyte B650M AORUS PRO AX Micro ATX AM5 Motherboard
Might be why I didn't have any of the coil whine issues mentioned above. After a little digging it seems the Pro board I have had minor cosmetic, power delivery (70A vs 60A) and thermal pad differences, but was otherwise the same as the elite board. The Pro has now been discontinued though.
bios updates is becoming more important, some people don’t do it as you need to re-enter bitlocker keys if you use bitlocker, or in earlier boards you had to reboot with a usb and the new bios code. problem i find on gigabyte is their windows utility doesn’t come up with latest bios version, need to go to their web site and check. These problems are not unique to gigabyte or a board model or version and other manufacturers have same problems.
First thing i do is update bios, sometimes i even do it before i put in a CPU and Ram with bios flashback that way i know the motherboard works before i bother installing everything into it.
Gigabyte dont do themselves any favours either by having 17 flavours of the same motherboard, each slightly different
what's a recommended motherboard around the $150-200 range?
I would highly recommend Hardware Unboxed's B650M buying advice video, but I think the MSI B650M Gaming Plus Wifi at is a great board in that price range. You could also go a little more and get the Asus Tuf Gaming B650M-E Wifi for a board that's pretty comparable to this one.
thanks, watched it already. would like to try asrock but a lot of the recommended boards at $200+
MSI B650M Gaming Plus and ASRock B650M PG Lightning Wifi both $199, but +50 u can buy this one.
Just bought a $159 ASUS A620M-AYW to put my Ryzen 8600GE in.
Was astounded to see the MediaTek MT7902 wifi wasn't a standard A+E keyed M.2 card, it was CNVI. I thought that was Intel proprietary. That it only works with Intel processors/chipsets.
Since I didn't want wifi at all, I've taken the wifi card out. Now I'll have to figure out whether the standard M.2 A+E keyed card I intended to use in it will work in that slot. Does anyone know?
If they use same m2 slot ofc it will work. However, u should review ur motherboard manual, the speed in that slot may slow because A620m have limited bandwidth
u should review ur motherboard manual
The ASUS manual doesn't even mention that there's a socket there that the wifi device plus into.
The slot looks like a M.2 A+E socket, except that it only has the E key. Intel says you can't plug a CNVI card into a M.2 A+E socket, but you can plug an M.2 A+E card into a CNVI socket. Which is consistent with the M.2 principle that if the presence or absence of keys and keyways in the matching places means you can plug that card into that socket it won't do any damage by doing that. It just may not work.
Any good am4 mobos?
I currently have a b550m asrock steel legend but I may get it refunded if I can be bothered. And then get the msi MAG b550 mobo. Lose two usb ports.
I have encountered ram instability w amd didn't ever happen when I was using intel
The AMD/Mediatek Wifi/BT module is complained about by laptop users here on Revision 1.0. The Realtek Module on Revision 1.3 is at least stable. The Intel Wifi on 1.2 is great, but getting a bit old. Revision 1.3 also introduced an extra phase on PCIE lanes, there are also 3x ARGB ports instead of 2x. The ICE model was released alongside and it reflects these changes as well. My pick is 1.3, but good luck finding it especially here in Aus.
What's wrong with the later revisions?
