DF64 Gen 2 Single Dose Coffee Grinder $491.20 + $45 Delivery @ DF64 Coffee Grinder

760
310COFFEECLUB

The price just keeps dropping! Significantly lower than average local price of ~$1000

Picked this up on last week's deal, at $70 more. Received mine within 1 week. Packaged well, and working very well. I personally opted for the DLC burrs. I upgraded from the Breville SGP and found the upgrade pretty significant.

Remember to ask for AU plug.

@sqheaven: What am I doing on OzBargain? I regularly buy items I want when I see posted bargains for said products, what other purpose is there to be a member here other than that? What TV do I have? You’d know if you had taken in what I had previously mentioned Googling the winner crowned the king of TVs in the Value Electronics TV shootout event for 2023 and 2024… It’s a TV that a very select few Australians own because it was only available in Australia for 3 months between the end of October 2023 and January 2024, the 77” Sony A95L QD-OLED. It makes no difference what TV anybody else owns, from an objective stand point based on objective ISF industry standards, the Sony A95L QD-OLED is the superior TV closest to a industry reference monitor used to create content, than whatever TV they own unless they own the same TV.

However, you seem to have missed the point, the point wasn’t that I have a high quality superior TV, it was that everyone has something that they are interested in more than what other people are, and that I didn’t ask for any advice from someone who believes they are a coffee enthusiast more than I am to the extent that I am interested in home theatre.

    • This is what i'm wondering, I'm using a BSGP with an ECM e61 machine and it makes good coffee, I really struggling to believe I'm actually going to be able to notice a difference with this grinder, let alone a $500 difference. I do notice some clumping with the SGP but stirring it with a WDT tool alleviates that

      • -2

You won’t notice a major difference upgrading to the DF64 gen 2 if you’re currently using the Breville Smart Grinder Pro, the differences will be subtle. If you’re in the market for a new grinder and you don’t already own the Breville Smart Grinder Pro, then that’s when I would suggest spending the extra money and just buying the DF64 Gen 2 as you first choice.

  • Is this better or equivalent to a fellow ode gen 2 for pour over only?

    • Depends on the burrs. The burrs will make it more expensive. Ode 2 is supposed to produce delicious coffee, buy good beans, treat your water and lock down other variables first - I don't think this would be an upgrade.

      • 100%, I'm wondering if this will be a better buy than a fellow ode, don't mind swapping out burrs. I have a smart grinder pro but it's not cutting it for moccamaster and v60

    • From what i've heard/read, Fellow ode Gen 2 would be better for pour over only.
I've used the DF64 Gen 2 for filter and i have to say its a bit lacking. I think its far better for espresso than filter coffee.

Five hundred bucks for ONE cup of coffee!!!!!

    • +1

It's a single dose grinder, not single use.

      And there is a $500 espresso: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3McVYygGOY (£265 is about $515)

      • The title says "2 Single Dose Coffee" fool!!

    • Yes.

You have to throw it out after you've used it once.

      • +4

It's the only way to be sure your next shot is truly fresh, pure, 100% single origin conflict free bean. Small price to pay for peace of mind.

    • Yaaaap. That’s why its called DF64. Makes you shout Da Fak!!! 64 times

  • Am I missing something here?

    • +8

A DF64 Gen 2 Single Dose Coffee Grinder, perhaps?

      • -2

Perhaps, but I am not sure my palate is refined enough for such a device.

Similarly, I've been tempted to buy a top-end set of headphones and a Sony Walkman Signature Series, but again, I think they'll be wasted on me.

        • +3

Do your wallet a favor and stay out of the rabbit holes.

    • Probably missing the 6 figure salary like me to even consider buying a grinder, let alone spending more than the $5 a 'surfer guest bought one for and left with me. What an absolute Rip Off.

And it works a treat… I make all our baking sugars from a cheap bag of Raw..

Is this hand or electric? How much does it weigh? Is it small?

    • +2

Its electric, don't know, define small.

  • Do you know if you get AU plugs?

  • +2

This or the kmart coffee grinder?

    • +1

      What are you grinding ?

      • +4

        only the good stuff mate

Ok so seems like the next step upgrade over a breville smart grinder pro.

What is the next step upgrade over the Breville dual boiler for an espresso machine?

    • Aside from moding your BDB ive read a true upgrade would be the Linea Micra. Except the price tag is hard to justify for most.

    • +6

You should keep the dual boiler, it is a great machine 🙂

      • I'm sure eventually it's going to die. And I'm going to struggle buying the exact same model machine 10 years later for more than I paid the first time.

        • Fair enough, if mine breaks I may also be looking at something else. But would be spending a lot more to get the same amount of features..

ITT (and every decent coffee grinder thread): people who drink instant and believe Moccona to be the pinnacle of coffee being astonished at a more than reasonable price for a real coffee grinder 😂

  • This doesn't even have a screen on it.

  • After watching reviews I'll still get the DF 54 at $449.00 and no shipping were I live and also save money. It's smaller size and weight will suit my needs as well.

    • +1

      Currently $399 on Amazon AU

  • Any comparison to the Baratza Encore ESP?

    • this is a real espresso grinder that is not

  • The code is also working for DF64V … just ordered one for $721

  • Where do you ask for AU plugs?

  • +1

I only drink milk based coffees. Is it worth investing in this rather than the BSG Pro?

    • Would like to know too

      • +1

I would say yes, flat burrs vs small conical, stepless vs stepped. zero retention vs a few grams left in the burrs. the list can go on and on.

Even the cheaper DF54 would make day and night difference.

        • Upgrading the BSG Pro with the DF64 or 54 would make a difference, certainly, but it can't necessarily be assumed the result would be BETTER coffee. I'm getting superb coffees at home using the BSG, but that's down to doing a lot of work watching YT tutes to develop my barista skills, using a Weiss distribution tool, good filtered water, and using fresh locally roasted beans. I drink flat whites and prefer darker roasted beans, and those are both factors, also. The benefits of upgrading a BSG are far more discernible with straight espresso and light beans than with milk coffees using darker beans. The OP should bear that in mind.

  • recommend burr set for milk based drinks?

  • +1

Code doesnt seem to work anymore?

  • I got one from the Amazon deal and it's better than the built in grinder on my Barista Express. Definitely worth it at $500 if you're upgrading from anything cheaper and from reviews, best bang for bucks for a flat burr grinder.

  • Code no worky?

  • -2

Huh? I just grind beans with the food processor I already have. Works fine.

  • Let me know when your grinder is delivered.

    • My grinder was delivered yesterday. Very fast shipping via DHL. I’m pleased with it so far.

      • That's amazing. When I reached out to that df64coffee.com to get the same discount on DF83 because the code wasn't working for it but all other grinders, she told me that this code leaked and she had to cancel 100+ orders and reply an email apology.

        What a f'ing (profanity)!

        • Wow. Perhaps I’m one of the lucky ones!

          • @franks: Exactly, you're lucky you did not get her email. Plus, no one says anything, I assume maybe they got her email 😂

      • Did you get the metal collar accessory ?

        • Yes I did

  • Anyone know if there will be any new deals coming soon?

  • Did anyone not get the metal collar in their order ? Or is that to purchase additionally?

    • @RichieVn - I ordered mine a few weeks ago and received a black collar and a nice black and silver measuring cup too that matches the 2 tone black and silver colour design of the grinder:

      https://ibb.co/zRnFSfQ

However it seems I received stock from an older batch, because others that ordered their DF64 grinder around the same time as I did didn’t receive the collar but instead an angled attachment piece to position the cup up higher. The change is apparently due to them receiving complaints about the collar scratching the tops of people cups from connecting the collar to it.

      • Ahh do you have a picture of the measuring cup you’re referring to?
        I don’t think that’s usually included?

        • @RichieVn - The bean measuring cup I am referring to is in the photo I posted just above in my previous post, it’s sitting in the arm on the front of the grinder that holds either the measuring cup or portafilter… The collar is attached to the top of the cup in my photo. A bean measuring cup has always been included with the DF64 gen 2 grinder however the one provided with original batches of the grinder were completely silver, they have now changed the colour of the measuring cup from silver to either black and silver or all black, and it essentially seems to be the luck of the draw which colour you receive.

          • @[Deactivated]: Ahh damm looks like I’m missing the metal collar on top of the measuring cup in your photo. I’ll have to email them :(
