  • Hmm a bit dear even with the 50% when you can get multiple bottles making up same volume for half the half price.

    • You could do that, but the good thing about Van Dieman's kits is the inks are guaranteed safe for you pens and that they'll actually mix. Fountain pen inks can be surprisingly complicated, for a good explanation I recommend this article as a place to begin.

  • Warning These inks clogged the hell out of all my fountain pens. medium and broad. I didn't even try fine or extra fine. YMMV

    beautiful inks though.

I highly recommend you just shake the bottle, dip and write with these.

    • That’s surprising. Which inks did you try? I’ve been using their ink for years in a variety of different pens, both cheap and expensive, and never seen a single clog. I’m also pedantic about flushing thoroughly between colour changes, though, so I haven’t inadvertently mixed inks of different properties.

      • Yea I don't think that is a fair warning. I've also used their inks for years too.
The latest shimmer ink I've used from Van Dieman's was their January special - gold shimmer. Put it into a Platinum Curidas on a Fine nib - 8 months on the pen still writes. With that shimmer ink.

        • lol, i said YMMV. i shared my personal experience, and it clogged all my pens. i bought all shimmering inks. I shook the bottle and pulled from middle of bottle. that glitter clogged all my pens: MB starwalker, pilot metro, kaweco sport, and a bunch of lamy (2000, studio, safari, and alstar). mostly medium and some broad.

it was a huge pain to clear it out as the glitter just gunked up the barrel. It took a long time to clear it that i almost threw my pen across the room in frustration. never again.

i still love the inks, but i will never put it in my pens again. i will only dip and write.

now you put the platinum curidas on my shopping list. i will get a medium and let you know how it goes. if fine works for you, then i definitely won't have any problems with medium. thanks mate.

          • @Hugh G Rection: Would you happen to be using an ultrasonic cleaner to clean your pens?

I have ran shimmer inks on Twsbi, Pilot Metro, kaweco sport, majohn a2 and they've all came out alright. Shimmer definitely isnt for all pens, I wouldnt run in an MB just to avoid any heartbreaks lol.

In terms of getting glitter out, I just run the feed through the ultrasonic most of the time with some dish soap or a drop of cloudy ammonia.

Curidas feed seems to be more flowy than a capless. So far so good.. plus its cheap!

            • @SonneryCean: no, i don't have an ultrasonic cleaner, but they are all cleared out now. I'm definitely not putting shimmering ink in my pens anymore, but i will try it in that platinum curidas as you found success in that.

I don't mind dipping and writing, makes me feel like i have a feather quill while im writing from olden times. lol
