Whoa.. Telstra visits the site now?

These headphones are expensive. I don't suppose anyone wants to buy a pair for $99…

    • Many major retailers are on this site.

The headphones also suck. I got them bundled with my Sensation XE. Bass is so heavy that it's distorted, so hip-hop/RnB style music is alright but anything with a kick drum sounds bad. Treble is lacking also. Midrange is fine, but they're $15 headphones with Beats tax, certainly not $100.

      • Why the hell does everybody rave over them? Are they the Apple of headphones?

        • It's mostly the branding - Beats Audio paid a lot of money to tell people that they are good headphones, and they do look cool.

Also, when you listen to them with R+B or hip hop, the bass 'feels' really punchy on the over-ear versions (not these specific ones). It's easy to associate that with good sound, but when you listen to other genres the weaknesses become very clear, and you begin to notice the distortion, even in genres where the music is supposed to sound good.

I'm no audiophile by any means, but it's easy to pick that these aren't good headphones.

          cos Dre says so, boyee!

    • Whoa.. Telstra visits the site now?

You'd be surprised how well known & popular OzB has become in the last few years. You could say due to word of mouth, exposure on ACA & TT or it just maybe the fact the hoard has gained a reputation for trampling over many an establishment for a bargain!

Do u have any of the DICKSMITH "TELSTRA 4G (MF91) + BONUS $180 Recharge Voucher" for $169 deals??

  • Must be locked to Telstra, right?

    • It says "Network unlocking fee applies."
I think that limits the usefulness to many people.

      • telstra should be upfront about this in the post.

I'd buy the headphones, not the phone…

    • +1

I wouldn't buy either of them

Very average compared to the Motorola Atrix deal from JB Hi-Fi posted here recently:

    • +1

"Average" now warrants a neg? Besides the JB Hi-Fi deal has expired — a week ago.

Now here's a better deal — HTC Desire C for Next G $158 from Unique Mobile posted yesterday.

      • Not that I'm a Beats fan, but this deal does come with them FWIW. ;)

      • +4

Personally, I think it's justified. This is is after all called ozbargain, not ozaverage lol.
I check the site looking to find really good deals, not scroll through posts from every retailer and his dog posting 5% or 10% off.
        Just my 2c :)

        • i got a lecture from the poster when I questioned his post along these lines..
          http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/86106
they have since changed their original comment to my one…

I too feel the responsibility lies of the poster to make sure they are posting a good deal..

(though in this case raisinberry is negging based on a comparison to an expired deal - so I am not so sure I agree with the neg)

      • Not sure the Unique Mobile deal is any better.

For one, the headphones cost you $31 and surely you could get at least $50 for them on EBAY. Bear in mind a lot of the Beats listed there are not genuine…

Yes the phone is locked, so that is a drawback - you can get around that cheaply though.

But the most important thing for me is that if something goes wrong with your phone, Telstra are likely to be far easier to deal with getting a refund than Unique Mobile. Telstra have physical stores in a lot of major metro centres as well as a 24x7 call centre.

I bought one of the Motorola Defy+ handsets a few weeks ago - it was a complete POS which couldn't be used to make even a basic phonecall without rebooting. Even though it was three weeks old and I didn't still have the box the Telstra team happily refunded my purchase price when I returned it to them at their cost.

        • Yeah I obviously did not count the value of the headphone — not really useful to me. I've also never had a mobile fault within the warranty period so having easy access on warranty claim might not be that useful to me as well.

      • Beats Earphones are worth $21 to some people. Plus I know that all HTC phones are software locked, so it'd be pretty easy to unlock them. That's why Vodafone just gave up and all HTC Explorers they sold could be unlocked for free.

  • Hi Telstra rep, could you help me sort out one refund related to your last deal (motorola defy+) please? My online order got canceled, but never received the refund. I have visited a store for ID check and also rang your 1300 number, but after got transferred a lot of times, i still don't have my money back. It is really giving me a lot of headache.

    • +1

tell them you have been transferred many times and you want to speak to a supervisor or dept manager

    • Hello Saturday,

Very sorry to hear about the order situation and that you've been bounced around within Telstra several times!

I did some digging to find the best place to direct your query, and I'm sorry to give you another 1300 number but this is the team dedicated to handling orders and refunds when they were placed online. As long as you've got your Order number, or at least the email address you used to place the order then they will be able to look up the status of your refund.

Please give 1300 131 113 a call (they will be able to help you with your online order refund status).

Let me know how you go,

      BW

  • Hi Telstra Rep,
Can you sort out online verification thing. I tried numerous times ordering defy+, all got cancelled even after visiting store for ID check.

    • Hello infekted,

Also sorry to hear about your difficulties in placing the order online for the Defy + due to what sounds like a verifying of ID issue.

Have you tried completing the process with one of our Live Chat representatives?

My suggestion is to visit the Prepaid Online Shop and start a Live Chat session with one of our reps, they should be able to walk you through the order process or help determine why your orders aren't being placed.

      Here's our Prepaid Shop: onlineshop.telstra.com.au/prepaid-mobile/
Live Chat is the link on the very top of the webpage next to the 24x7 Support.

Hope you are able to determine why your orders have been cancelled,

      BW

  • the page is broken in Chrome.

    • You might find that it's Chrome that's actually broken… :p

  • I think it speaks volumes that Telstra deals just turn into people trying to get problems fixed while anyone from Telstra is paying attention.

    • +2

Pretty commonplace, really. A lot of people do this, not just for Telstra, simply because it's easier than going through contact form after contact form. Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course.
