  • Still available and in stock, Amazon just moved to the buying options for whatever reason.

    • +2

Link is now Kogan lol. US listing USD $629 deal is over mate that's $956 here

  • 1 left!

    • +2

Flash sale is back. That quantity is misleading….
      80% claimed

Deliberately makes you think not much stock left to impulse buys

      • I'm pretty sure the quantity just goes back up when someone cancels, but there's often a bit of a delay on the stock count afterwards so sometimes more than 1 order goes through when there's supposed to be 1 remaining.

I was on the fence the other day about getting this and cancelled, and stock came back with 1 remaining about 15 mins later…and I proceeded to re-order.

        • Yeah and you know the older post had this for $860 ish I cancelled that and reordered on this

The authorised funds from the old purchase despite cancelled still withheld on bank account.

Took exactly 7 days to release

  • For those that put through an order, have you gotten charged for it already?

I put an order through along with a screen protector, and that was the only thing that has been charged on the order… Fingers crossed the order went through on the rog ally or else im stuck with a screen protector for it and nothing to use it on.

    • Amazon seem to charge your card when they ship the item, mine hasn't been charged and also hasn't been shipped yet either.

      • Processed this morning still not shipped yet

        • Just checked, mine's processed and shipped yesterday

    • Got the pending charge today. They likely post soon

  • Mine shipped yesterday

    • Hi mate, have you received yours yet? Can you confirm it was the extreme version?

      • ETA is the 30th.

I have no clue why everyone is getting so irritated by what that clown is writing here. It’s obvious he’s making it all up. :)

        • My main concerns are that someone on this deal (same Amazon page) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/859080 had the same issue. Also the model number etc.

          Time will tell I guess

          • @secondsolution: Yeah, the same dude who’s stirring everyone up here as well. If everyone had received the Z1 that deal would be flooded with those posts. It’s not.

            • +2

@Wallace666: I think it's probably because most people haven't received theirs yet given how slow they have been to ship out.

              I cancelled my order because,
usually when an item is sold and shipped from Amazon US, you can find the identical product listing on the US store. In this case, the US listing is https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C8H1FHFH which is the Z1 model (take a look at the reviews at the bottom, they are shared across the US and AU listing and the US site has a button to take you to the Amazon.com.au that takes you to the listing we bought from). Ultimately it looks like an Amazon bug where the listings are linked incorrectly across regions.

  • +1

I got one of these when the deal came back up on the 15th. They still haven't sent it, hoping it will go soon

    • I ordered 10th August and not yet shipped.

      • Damn, they are taking their time!

On a side note, do you have a recommendation for a US to AU power converter?

        • You would expect it comes with a charger that can handle the voltage…

  • +1

A bit annoyed that it hasn't shipped from Amazon yet, ordered on 10th August.

    • +1

Ordered the 9th, still not shipped either.

      • Would order the Steamdeck OLED from Kogan if I knew this was going to be cancelled …

    • +1

I ordered on the same day 10th August, its shipped on the 19th August. won't get here til 30th August

Which is slower than Aliexpress or Temu. That's 20 days

Its via DPD, not sure if its the carrier's fault or Amazon's. I thought US items usually pretty quick from Amazon US…..

My gut feeling my SSD NVME m.2 2230 from this deal will arrive before my unit LOL https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/862507

    • +1

I ordered on the 15th so not as long but definitely concerned it will be cancelled considering I just spend $150 on an SSD

      • +1

Just an update for my order. I contacted Amazon and requested an estimated shipping date. They said 27/08/2024. Not ideal but I feel more hopeful now

  • Guys I received today and model is RC71L-ALLY.Z1_512 its not RC71L-ALLY.Z1X_512

Its the standard model not extreme…..

Without the "X" its standard. Be warned.

They packed the wrong item selling standard as extreme to scam you, not sure if its deliberate

You will have to return the item to get them, they also refuse to send the a replacement

    • Oh really? Thanks for the heads up. I think I'll cancel. Already have an SSD on the way though :(

      • Yup the listing specs has RC71L-ALLY.Z1_512 as model but the title is Extreme and the package is RC71L-ALLY.Z1_512

        So something is wrong guys

      • Well you can buy an enclosure from aliexpress and use as external drive I suppose

    • -2

I doubt you have received anything given that a few posts up you mentioned it only shipped on the 19th. Takes more than four days from the US to here including customs clearance…
Mine shipped on the 14th and only got to Australia today.

      • Well I kid you not, the tracking number matches. Mine one arrived after posting 18th August.

        International delivery destination Australia

If you receive it then tell me the label. If it says CPU: AMD Z1 not AMD Z1 extreme it's the wrong model.

        Confirmed on reddit

        https://www.reddit.com/r/ROGAlly/s/bn90sw8DtN

        RC71L-ALLY.Z1_512 is standard

        RC71L-ALLY.Z1X_512 is Extreme

Let the show begins who receives Standard on this thread

  • Can anyone who have received it confirm whether it was the standard Z1 or the Z1 Extreme ?

    • Box says AMD Z1. You tell me if it's the right product or not

  • +1

Mine hasn't shipped, but because of the comments above, I looked for the Amazon US listing that links to the Amazon AU listing and it shows the Z1 and not the Z1 Extreme model.

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C8H1FHFH

Make of that what you will. I have cancelled my order.

    • +1

      Good on you.
      https://amzn.asia/d/dP0VQub

I can tell you I found the issue the title says

      ASUS ROG Ally 7" 120Hz FHD 1080p Gaming Handheld - AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme Processor - 512GB - White Model:RC71L-ALLY.Z1X_512

But in the specs bottom of page, if you expand everything shows

      Item Model Number: RC71L-ALLY.Z1_512

And like I said above this is the normal standard Z1. It has to have the "X" in it. Someone on the old thread said got wrong model as well from this link. So this is the truth https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/859080 I can confirm it's Z1

Therefore this entire deal is invalid it's for standard Z1 not extreme. Even at $741 its not worth it

Amazon Au does not send replacement if the item is from Amazon US…. You can get a refund if you want too much hassle

This is no longer a deal and for those who receives it check it yourself if you don't believe me

      • Cancelled. Have a $180 SSD on the way. Super bummed out. Thanks for the heads up.

        • Yeah I'm sorely disappointed. Also Amazon rep would only refund me on Giftcard. They cannot repost and even if they did, the listing is incorrect they will likely post me the wrong item again.

I now lost $741.28 hold on up Giftcard. So essentially I lost cash. Out of pocket. I dunno what to do with this GC atm.

      • So are you saying they won't send the extreme version?

        • That was my impression.

        • That's right they won't send another unit even if you return the Z1 standard version. I spent an hour on the phone. Even talking to supervisor. She said because Amazon au has no inventory and the system does not allow sending replacements from Amazon US because the item is via Amazon US despite its linked to AU store….

The original listing also shows the wrong model in the specs….i have no idea if it's the Lister being dodgy or a geniune mistake

Potentially the seller used the lightning sale tactic and clear Z1 inventory selling them as Z1 extreme

          • +1

@neonlight: Thanks mate. Really appreciate the heads up. I contacted Amazon who said it will definitely be the extreme version but if there are issues they'll sort them out (basically they have no idea).

I've bought a dock, case and SSD that is basically useless now until I can find a good price

            • +2

@secondsolution: Well let us know once you receive it. I believe everyone who bought from this link will get the Z1 Standard. That's the model number on the specs sheet. The title is meaningless

FYI I did the same. I called Amazon staff prior it got shipped. They also told me its the extreme edition but then I received the standard.

They have no option for me except returning it without repost.

Standard model is not good enough. Essentially you are charged on extreme model for a standard….

          • @neonlight: My order just shipped few hours before, cannot cancel any more. There are reviews in AU site mentioned wrong model as well, so I think the wrong title is intended. See how it goes, but won't give any hope.

      • This is disappointing, mine has already been shipped.

    • My tax invoice (from Amazon order details page) clearly lists the Z1 Extreme model number in the item description. Surely this is grounds for a return and cash refund if Z1 Standard is delivered.

      • Meanwhile the printed docket for the package shows non extreme anyway

        • -2

Stop talking rubbish, you've never received it from this deal

          • @Wallace666: Lol ok do as you wish. I love trolls complaining when people trying to be helpful. Come on keep going. I'm enjoying this

You seriously think I will get worked up mate on your comment. Grow up.

Oh you only joined since 2014 is it? Have some respect if you are a professional and Only 70 comments!?

      • +2

Yeah I'm going to roll the dice. I've always had great experiences with Amazon and returning items so I have no doubt I'll get my money back.

I'm in too deep with the accessories I've bought haha and I want to have one before October for a work trip so will sort it out if it's wrong

        • +1

ETA Aug 30th delivery, moment of truth haha

        • Good luck and do report back. Worse case wait for next Z1 Extreme deal. Ally X is already out so maybe wait for that heh

          • @neonlight: Was the Z1, not the extreme. Started the return process today.

            • @tchan28: Yeah like I said to the entire lot here who bought this will get the standard. The SKU is non extreme

  • I ordered this "deal" on the 10th/8 and cancelled on 23rd/8 morning out of frustration - kinda glad that I did the way things are going. Out of spite, I went and picked up an ally X from jb hifi yesterday - early fathers' day present for myself as wife allowed it… lol

However, I have already received a grey protective case for the original ally from aliexpress (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006048938302.html?spm=a2…) and also the 90 degrees 2230 to 2280 SSD Expansion Board from amazon AU (https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0CTTKNC3Y?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_f…)

Anyone want them? Free to a good home to anyone here if you guys decide to keep the ally Z1 - I live in Sydney North(North shore/Northern beaches) - self pickup please! PM me - first come first serve. No holds(well, its free afterall).

At least the screen protectors I got is compatible for both ally and ally X….

    • What does that 90 degrees 2230 to 2280 SSD Expansion Board from amazon AU do? You mean the standard SSD size is 2280 this converts the 2230 module board to 2280 so you can use higher capacity or what?

      • Yes, see this video from ETA Prime, for example. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2zG3i0aTTg

The 2280 SSDs are often cheaper than the 2230 ones. My new Ally X uses 2280 so I have no need for this anymore, and I cant be bothered to return it…

        • -1

Hey mate you still have the convertion board?
How come you ordered via Amazon not Aliexpress for that component

          • @neonlight: Yes, still have it somewhere in my pile! Sorry about the late reply, I only get on ozbargains for the free PC games alerts. Lol.

I ordered the conversion board/screen protector from amazon au as they would arrive within 2 days, and I thought I would get the ally within 7-10 days via amazon us, so I was eager to get everything "essential" ready before the device arrived. I ordered a 4TB ssd from a local supplier (Mxxxx.com) at the same time as well, and was told that it would ship within 3 days…. and of course it didnt - just got it last tuesday. Now its happily running in my ally x.

Meanwhile, the case could wait so I bought it from aliexpress, as I considered it "non-essential".

            • @yenchang: Ah you got the Ally X instead. I know it's a good device but a bit expensive at the moment I assume you paid over 1.5k for it?

              • @neonlight: Yes, I paid the RRP unfortunately… very un-ozbargains like, I know…

It's a good upgrade from my almost-2-years-old LCD Steam deck - 2 usb c ports, better battery(cf to OG Ally), ability to run other launchers without the pain of dual boot + run newer AAA games, local warranty - so I am quite pleased with it now.

Having said that, ASUS will probably slash $200 off RRP when black friday rolls around…

                • +1

@yenchang: I'm gonna wait then. I believe this time next year Ally X should go for cheap when Z2 Chipset Ally console comes out

  • +1

I cancelled before shipping and bought a Steam Deck OLED.

    • From the other deal is it? How much?

      • I just overpaid $1,099 through Big W, for reasons

  • +3

Just received mine. It's the Z1, not Z1 Extreme… starting the return process. Such a let down after waiting 2 weeks.

    • Thanks mate. I'm going to cancel.

So incredibly disappointing, but on the bright side there are rumours flying around that we will see a lot more gaming handhelds soon (https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/s/1LVpROxlPD)

Hoping we see a decent deal on the Rog Ally X in response

      • +2

Probably. However the price will be high at least for 12-18 months for Ally X

Z1 isn't bad if you play old titles and use it for emulation. Of course Extreme model is better but the unit is too pricy locally at any retailer. Only import is worth it

I jumped on this thinking I would get extreme as well which if so would last til Ally X becomes cheap

This post should be kept so others are kept in loop in the future same listing comes up and not fixed still stating extreme model when it's the base model

I wonder if any other Ozbargainers check this thread because essentially everyone got ripped off if they blindly kept this base model thinking it's extreme…

I'm sure some people don't know and just trust Amazon delivery. Which 99% of the time is correct. I never had this happened since I joined prime 6 years ago

        • +1

Thanks mate. Really good point in this being a good warning for that item and that some people may have just accepted it without realising. I'm surprised Amazon is still selling it given it is misleading and negligently deceptive.

I'm thinking I might get a UK one for $900, looks to be legit :)

          ASUS ROG Ally Portable Game Console (AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme Processor | 7" Full HD 120Hz 500-nit IPS Touchscreen | 16GB RAM | 512GB PCIe SSD|AMD Radeon Graphics|Windows 11|3 https://amzn.asia/d/hnihE7X

          • @secondsolution: Yeah no worries the one you linked has model RC71L#B0CKJ7WZ6Y Not really sure. $900 is a big steep. If this post was valid its about the right price but nope some con artists post a sale via lightning sale and pretend the unit to be extreme….

Any extreme has to have an X in it.

Its true I don't understand why Amazon has not taken down the global store listing which is wrong. It's plain deceptive

    • Hi @sirTLIB - Have you contacted Amazon - Will they provide a refund?

      • +2

I just went through the automated return process and selected refund instead of Amazon credit. Generated return post labels (to Amazon warehouse in VIC, not back to the US) without issue.

    • +3

Hey mate thanks for confirmation. As I mentioned before. I did gave everyone heads up here. No lies. The listing is incorrect.

Therefore this isn't a deal in the first place. Although Z1 at $741 its more because it's not worth it

Although it came from Asus official store.

  • +4

Posting to confirm that I also received the non-extreme model. RC71L-ALLY.Z1_512
I used the Amazon automated return process to process the return and refund.

  • https://amzn.asia/d/ffJ4PWG - you guys think this is actually the Extreme Z1 version or just the regular?

RC71L-NH001W is the only model number I see..

    • That model not sure. You better ask the seller its one without an X but the X only applies to US model. Australian model does not use the same as US model which is confusing as af.

I would not pay over 1k for Z1 Extreme

It has to be around the same price as original post to be a bargain. Otherwise it defeats the purpose of importing

Paying $300 more is not worth it. Stupid Aussie tax

      • +1

Yeh it's very confusing when it doesn't really need to be. Had a search on reddit and people saying it's the Extreme but yeh hard to tell. Thanks mate.

  • +3

Confirming I received a non-extreme version too. Bummed af. Initiated a return via chat.

  • +1

    Received the NON extreme version.
Initiated a refund. But will Amazon refund? I have had past issues because they claimed the Amazon US never received it.

  • +3

Also received the non-extreme version but got some good news.

I went through their live chat and they agreed to honour the Australian version ROG Ally (from Amazon AU) at the sale price. I had to order at full price and when delivered they refunded me the difference (amazon credit only).

    AU Listing: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0CRCY87WC?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_f…

    • Wow that is good outcome.

    • Amazon chat said to pay full price for it, then they will refund the price difference.
Not sure if I can trust them…

      • I waited a few days before posting my comment just to make sure they followed through.

Refunded is credited to my account. When delivered follow up for the refund on live chat.

    • Wow ok that's a pretty good outcome. Did you suggest that? Anyhow I didn't. It's a shame couldn't get the extreme model but Ally X has released. So I will wait for that to be discounted without the sdcard issue

      • What frame rate percentage improvement is the Ally X from Z1 Extreme?

        • No idea but battery power it's double capacity, more RAM

But it's too expensive at 1.5k retail. If it's half the price then maybe

They fixed the Sdcard slot issue

And…. replaced the ROG XG mobile port with a USB 4 instead. Which means you can use external GPU when docked not restricted to their own!?

      • I did asked through live chat. They might honour if you ask.
