    • Works for me.

      • 8kg or 9 kg I can't find any Essato 9kg Dryer online and even on Essato website

        • Ah, maybe the OP made a mistake in the title. It's 8kg.

        • Correct. The link is definitely to a different item.

    • I get a Bunnings 404

  • My bunnings never has any of the big items I want, so annoying.

    • +1

WA never sell this can of staff

      • +16

Selling a can of staff would be illegal on so many levels.

        • Wonder what the going rate is…

          • +7

@Bdawg: Need to more specific, fully assembled or unassembled staff?
I’m from SA, and cans/barrels of people is our speciality.

        • Pretty sure there are Japanese vending machines that do

      • I believe there's one store that does down Armadale way. It's something to do with WA's retail laws meaning that if they carried white good they'd have restricted hours on Sundays.

  • +7

Don't forget you can borrow a free trailer from Bunnings for up to 2 hours to take this home!

    • do they also lend you the tow ball?

    • Isn't that just for the wood?

  • +1

Is it not an 8kg model????

    • +4

      Don't fat shame

  • +12

Funny timing as I just had a technician out yesterday looking at ours… Even with proper maintenance, the drying performance just kept getting worse. He said he deals with these models a ton, and said to apply for our money back and put towards a better model. He recommended LG and Fisher Pykel as the 2 best.

    • How long till this happened?

      • +2

We've had it for about a year now. We actually got it as a replacement for our Stirling (Aldi) heat pump dryer that we also had for about a year. The Stirling one seemed a bit better performance-wise but some plastic snapped at the bottom which caused it to leak, so they replaced it with the Esatto. From the first few cycles we could tell the Esatto was slightly worse and over the last year it's just getting worse. The clothes are just more and more damp still when it finishes so we need to run it through another cycle.

        • +6

Just fyi if you dont know this dryer has two seperate air filters. Might be worth checking that both filters are clear

          • +2

@gruffjaguar: Agreed. There’s one behind the plastic panel and the bottom. Need to clear in pretty regularly, and it’s a bit awkward. Old toothbrush does the trick

          • @gruffjaguar: Yup I found that out with the original Stirling one when it started leaking. They asked me first to check the filter below and it was pretty dirty. Kept it maintained since on the Esatto.

        • Interesting….have had this model for 2 years…fingers crossed still keeps going

        • +1

Did you try taking the bottom filter out and cleaning the radiator fins? I do that once every 6 months or so and mines been going for 2 years now.

          • @Cheaplikethebird: Yup that's the one in referring to above

            • @bozzabear: Yeah okay, hmmm. Have you got it draining into the reservoir or somewhere else? Also wondering do you do lots of heavy loads or usually light loads? Just trying to work out if there's something different about your use or if you just got unlucky.

I'm draining mine out the window and I'm usually only doing fairly light light to medium loads with about 10 total loads a week.

              • +3

@Cheaplikethebird: Hey yeah so we use the reservoir and do roughly one load a day, I'd say medium.

Possibly unlucky but the appliance repairer that visited did say he repairs a lot of em and to avoid them for my next purchase. He doesn't sell em so no reason for him to be dishonest.

End of the day I think you're just rolling the dice more when going for the cheap brands. I roll that dice sometimes (thanks ozbargain haha), other times I play it safer and spend more in hope for better quality.

                • @bozzabear:

The fine line we dance 😂

          • @Cheaplikethebird: On the essato the bottom filter is not removable. At least I have not been able to pull mine out to clean the fins properly.

            • @yoho: Yeah it is, there's just two white clips need to turn. At least there is on the EHPD7.

              • @Cheaplikethebird: Yes, that is the mesh filter, easy to remove. Behind this is the metal fins. I thought this section could be removed and cleaned.

    • +3

Bit a lottery with white goods these days regardless. Just look at reviews online across brands and models. I've had an Essato heat pump dryer 2 years or so now, seems to still work OK. Always just used "auto". Funnily enough the start button broke early on and its permanently kinda pushed in, but it still works by gently pressing it. Probably should of got someone out to fix it but never did. We usually only use it during winter so maybe thats why its still working…

      • True. Which makes a decent warranty so important.

        • They mostly come with similar warranty periods. A decent retailer i'd argue is more important then to invoke ACL.

  • Pretty sure appliances online does price matching.

    • They said they don't price match bunnings

Gave me their best price of 699 delivered.

20 bucks extra to remove waste and install if
you include delivery fee from bunnings

      • +2

Yeah, tried price matching too and they said they can't and gave me a list of retailers they can price match. Which are:

        Betta Electrical
        Big W
        Bing Lee
        David Jones
        E&S
        The Good Guys
        Harvey Norman
        JB HiFi
        Joyce Mayne
        Myer
        Retravision
        Target
        Appliance Central

  • Could this be stacked above/below a washer?

    • +3

I got the aldi one 2 years ago and stacked it on top of my washer. I put in a rubber mat in between to help absorb the micro-movements. Been doing alright.

    • +3

I got this dryer about a week ago and stacked it on top of my LG WV5-1208 washer (which is not very deep).
I bought a rubber stacking mat from Good Guys for ~$50 and a 5m cam-buckle strap to go around the whole lot - might be overkill but better to be safe than sorry.
No issues at all so far. Just make sure your washer is level before you start and level the dryer once stacked

    • +3

I did that, but it was getting too much vibration from my washing machine. It likely damaged the dryer, but it got replaced under warranty. Technician told me not to stack them if you can avoid it, but if you do stack them you have to make sure the washer is level and stable AF

  • +3

I bought one of these about a year ago. My power bill dropped and along with the SA government energy rebate it paid for itself in about 6 months.

I got one from the Appliances Online deal delivered for about $590. Early days but works well and the real kicker for me is being able to put everything in it including synthetics which I can do with my conventional dryer.

  • +1

Anybody have this dryer that can comment on use and/or quality

    • I've had mine for about a month, works fine for towels/sheets.

    • +1

I have this dryer since late 2021. It work as intended, a little loud while running. We use it alot this year winter( a few times per week). I have found that on standard cycle, thick clothing like jacket is still not as dried. The liner catcher need to be emptied after every single cycle.

    • I have the 8KG and its great but I used to have the 7KG and it failed after 4 years to what is a known issue by Essato.

I did complain and they did send the part for free but to replace the part you had to disassemble 90% of the dryer which basically requires a professional.

I ended up just buying a new one and hoping they have fixed the known issue (They claimed they did but I doubt the customer service person knows)

    • +1

Got the 7kg around the same price in 2020 (via ozbargain) and it’s still going strong! After a year or so it started taking ages dry towels, and since then I’ve started cleaning both filters before every use. Runs like new when doing that, fast and power efficient.

I clean the metal bit behind the 2nd filter every 4-6 months with a cloth + toothbrush.

      Would buy again.

    • Bought this unit a bit over two years ago now. Cannot fault it. If this thing explodes, we will buy another.

We clean AirBnbs and this dryer has been doing 4-5 loads a day, nearly every day for more than two years.

Make sure you clean the condenser and the lint filter though!. We clean the condenser every week and the lint filter every time a new load goes in.

    • I've had this since 2020. It's still working and dries my clothes well. I clean both filters after every use and the metal fins every 4 months

  • +6

    8kg isn’t heavy. I can bench 9kg.

    • +4

Wow - you should be at Paris 2024. Surprised you didn’t make the team

  • No Stock in SA

  • call me sabrina carpenter because thats that me essato

  • Thanks, bought it at $559.55 with PowerPass.

    • No warranty

      • Do appliances not have warranty with the trade discount?

        • I just assumed since that applies to other expensive things.
To be honest, one of my strategies to find out things is to propose the worst outcome for me as a comment and wait for someone to correct me with researched information. Saves me a couple of minutes and I get free labour.

  • Had it running very smoothly for exactly 2 years 5 days and the drum stopped rotating. Contacted Essato and they were kind enough to organize refund through Bunnings. So its a hit and miss from my perspective

    • +2

Sounds like you got two years of free drying to me!

  • Are they stackable over a samsung washing machine? And wil we require a stacking kit?

  • +2

SA residents can get up to $188 rebate through https://yess.net.au/

  • I think a hybrid-heat pump Dryer is the way to go. Best of both worlds for quick drying.

Unfortunately Bosch don’t make them for Australia… yet

    • Energy efficient yes. Quick drying no.

      • That’s why it’s best to get a Hybrid Heat Pump Dryer. I only know than Samsung and Beko sell them in Australia…. Happy to be corrected

        • +1

We use outdoor clotheslines, with a Essato HP clothes dryer as a backup for when there's over 1m of rain.
I guess that's hybrid solution… and it doesn't cost me much to run the clothesline.

  • 7kg esatto since March 2021 ($495 then) and had been flawless. Does take quite long and big blankets and thick items may need a second round but otherwise can't fault it

  • Hey guys,
Been wanting a heat pump for a while, but no room unless it's stacked somehow.
Just read your comments that you can indeed stack a heat pump dryer on a washing machine, had read elsewhere that they were too heavy!
Looked at those stacking furniture, expensive, then thought of some type of heavy duty shelves?
Won't wreck the washing machine below right?
    Thanks.

    • +1

No idea where you got the too heavy idea from, Googled it and the only reason I saw for not doing it is so they can sell you a stacking kit. My Beko has been on top of my old Samsung washer for a while now, I've just got rubber matting between the two, it's perfectly stable.

Heya, you can definitely stack heat pump dryers on top of washing machines, what you cant do is wall mount them.

You can get brackets of various different types, some friction fit, others get screwed into the metal of the washer. I know some people who've just used a stacking mat and that's been fine.

      • Thanks for that. I think I'll go for it!

  • Op if it was $679 with free delivery would that make you feel better

    • Nah, it’s not a great deal with the delivery charge. I physically cannot lift that much, rather wait for the Appliancesonline deal.

Wanted to share the deal with others as it’s similar to the Aldi Sterling Heat Pump dryer deal in July with no delivery, but that sold out so quickly.

I have this unit stacking ontop of a 10kg bosch washing machine, no problem at all, however i have not use both at the same time.
This is what i use to put under the dryer legs :

  • are most dryers now heat pump? I got a old simpson one that the old owner left behind that doesnt work properly (wall mounted) and i wanted to replace it, is heat pump the best to get?

    • +1

There is a really good Aussie Firebug episode that discusses it. I think it was the interview with the founder of MEEH (My Energy Efficient Home).

    • The heat pump dryers are more energy efficient I think and it does not cause damage to your cloths.

      • damage is caused by higher heat. If you don't want to cause as much damage, you can put your dryer on low mode.
