I was looking forward to first Rex experience but a meteor hit before that

  • TIL thanks to Ozbargain that Rex is dead.

  • Annoying. I just made the Sapphire tier of their frequent flyer program from my return trip last week and flew to Melb on Monday night. Farewell, was fun while it lasted getting cheap biz upgrades on their flights. I definitely saw that the staff were worried on Monday after all the media speculation, Tuesday sounds like it was worse with staff hotel and uber lockouts and now huge delays to get back pay and entitlements.

Last couple of flights to Melbourne and back were with fairly empty planes so I guess it was inevitable as there's only so long you can pay staff, gates, fuel, pilots while you're running practically empty 737s.

Anyway managed to get past the hold queue drama and book with VA for the flight back home to Sydney tomorrow.

  • Guys have to fill 2 forms for to and fro tickets . I have no idea why

  • Just flew back from Perth to Melb on replacement Virgin flight. Tried to book like for like dates and times however they said it was fully booked. Ended up extending the trip for one day so we wouldn't have to cut the trip short. Good of Virgin to give us options.
Anyway the flight was basically empty. Some suckers upgraded to business while I lay flat across three chairs.

There was another flight option which we offered and it had TWO stopovers. In retrospect we should have asked if we could have gotten off at the stop over for a few days.

  • I used the rebooking form last week - got a email today with my new flight details. Simple & easy, didn't have to call up.

My partner unfortunately booked via her work travel system, today she missed a call from virgin, saying she had to call back. Called back and the customer service, gave them the reference number, but the agent had no idea what to do apart from read a script saying if you're flight is greater than 48 hours away, you need a submit a rebooking form (even thought she had already submitted one last week). ???? customer service then continued to give us attitude saying she can't do anything for us.

    • That's horrible! I hate getting stuck with call centres where anything different from their script just completely throws them. If they just had the ability to think, so many problems would be solved.

  • Posted the below on the Qantas thread too.

I have multiple Rex flights to be rebooked in September and October. I submitted the Virgin forms on day 1, haven't heard back, have called up the centre and have gotten no where. However, I submitted the Qantas forms and received booked flights within 24-48 hours. QF not JQ too. Posting this in case people dealing with similar problem. Hope it helps!

  • I submitted my claim for a return flight from CBR to MEL for the 11/10/24-14/10/24 2 hours after the form opened on 31/7/24, on a flight that 2 of my friends are on, they did the same and have been rebooked. However, I have not. I called Virgin on Tuesday the 6/8/24 they said wait another 3 days (upcoming Friday). Still nothing concrete.

  • Had to go with Virgin as I've heard nothing since submitting forms with Qantas over a week ago. Virgin only took a few days.

  • Can't help but think that virgin and Qantas engineered this downfall

  • Submitted a ticket for my flight in October, still waiting for virgin to contact me. Anyone on the same page?
