Been keeping an eye out for this and seems like a good price for the C855!
Incorrect title price updated (possibly copy & paste error): Was $1890, should be $1835. — Mod

Having upgraded from a FALD LCD (Hisense) to the 85" C845 and was blown away by the quality, "almost" look like an OLED! I can only imagine this is even better!!
Mind letting me know what model you went from? I have a Hisense Q8 at the moment, I keep thinking I have FALD so it's not worth upgrading unless I go to OLED but I'm fully aware there are better non-OLED screens out there.
funny you asked, I actually upgraded from a Q7, and also thought the same that I had FALD but when i went to the JB to check out the ozb fav last year C845 I was floored by the black level and contrast. The Q7 was decent for its time however it was crushing the blacks quite a bit so you cant see the shadow details at all. Whereas this doesnt happen with the C845.
Is this much better than the C835?
Better by about 20.
On paper the specs are significantly better than the C845 (2160 local dimming zones vs. 576 in the C845), so I would say yes.
FWIW, I have an 85" C845 and I'm very happy with it. Purchased for around $2,200 after cashback on Black Friday last year, so you'll likely get a much better price on this model if you're prepared to wait a few months.
I have a 75" c835 that i got for under $1600 aboht a year ago. I was just wondering why this is that much more expensive, its hard to see reviews or comparisons of these two models
Are you sure it isn't the C845?
The new midrange C755 is about on par with last year's 'premium' C845.
No, the C845 would've been over 2k when i bought mine
I wish they made the 50" version still for this model.
Do they supply the wall mount?
No - it's in the Terms and Conditions (had to check myself) - excludes wall mounts and cables
Yeah live chat said so too ok thanks
I asked via JB Live Chat and they won't price match the free delivery and installation.
They would match The Good Guys $1775.
found appliancesdeals has better deal. Anyone has experience with the appliancesdeals?
I've never heard of that site, and the fact that I can't find their ABN would make me worry a bit. Also the site doesn't really fill me with confidence.
Also see @100 comment where it looks like it's the same bank account as people who have been scammed: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/5502764/redir
thanks
Hoping the 85” version pops up cheap soon!
Picked one up for ~$1500 a month ago. Phenomenal TV.
Thanks. For comparing the deal, was this for the 65" C855?
Any issues or concerns, or is this an unreserved recommendation?
I use the TV as a bedroom TV, so I'm viewing it straight on.
It's fantastic. There's a bit of blooming if you look for it, and a spec sheet will tell you the blacks aren't OLED level, but to the layman's naked eye it's a bloody good TV for $1500.
I don't think I'd ever consider paying the extra for an OLED, put it that way.
I paid $1880 inc delivery from Appliancesonline about a month ago. Really happy with the TV
Awesome picture. Definitely a 55" next black friday purchase.
There is no 55".
What's the best price anyone has seen for the 98"
The best I can see so far is $5995, I don't want to pull the trigger if that's not a great price.
Was going to get the 98" Sony X90L, but like the idea of the mini LED.
I'm also keeping eye on price for 98" latest model, recently I read on Whirloop forum that someone was offered this one for $4638.. I'll be very keen if I can get it under $4K
Changed my mind on the TCL and couldn't pass up this deal for the Samsung 98" QN90D.
RRP 12,999 and bought for $4939.62 from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/853846
I know RRP is BS, but still being sold for 8-10k at the majors.
I looked into it but I don't have EDU account, any tricks on how to get it?
@Trek: Nothing tricky, we didn't have an EDU either but my son goes to a public high school so I tried his @education.nsw.gov.au and it worked fine. Just had to register.
@noddypiper: Sweet, I have daughter who has eq.edu.au account, hope it will work.. so this will be as if kids order under their name or you ordered it under your name using your son's edu email? When is your TV delivery?
Also, have you compared this TV with TCL latest 98" in shop to see picture quality?
@Trek: The only trick with my son was to change the date of birth. He is 17, and it wouldn't accept has real birthdate, I just took it back a further year.
I had it delivered yesterday, and I'm very happy with it. So it was my son's name with me as the billing and shipping address etc.
Hard to compare in shop as not many retailers have them on display, I'm in Sydney and went to look at one at Harvey's Liverpool.
They had a standard def free to air show playing, and it looked bad, crap in, crap out.
Most of the time, they have those manufacturer produced videos on a loop, with those everything looks amazing so it is hard to compare.
TCL is a great TV, but for 1k less the Samsung won me over.
Just had a look and the price has gone up from $4939.62 to $9,499.05 ($9,024 via app with 5% off 1st purchase) which is ridiculous.
Crazy how these prices jump around, this deal was posted late June, looks like it may have expired 31/7.
@noddypiper: Oh bugger, I missed it then.. Did you checked price on web or app (title for Samsung EDU deal says price is for 'First Time App Order Only')? After your 1st order via App price may be showing different for you.
Anyway, enjoy your big TV.. If deal is really expired then I'll keep hunting for TCL 98" C855 to get it under $4k..
@Trek: I did try the app as well, logged in as my son.
Worth a try if you sign up, looks like it is over, though.
@noddypiper: Signed up, don't know why but it shows price $9999 for me (not $9499 what u said) and its not in stock..
PS: I can see 9499 on web now, app shows 9999.. anyway, deal is definitely expired now..
Deal has expired now. The prices on these TVs keep going up and down…
