ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR X670E GENE Motherboard $779 + Delivery ($0 to Metro/ C&C) + Surcharge @ Scorptec

50

The best overclocking motherboard for AM5. AMD Ryzen 9000 series are going to be released soon, and Zen5 will have more potential on overclocking. It is a good price only if you have a fever on CPU and DRAM overclocking. Based on the information known for now, 800 series motherboards are not likely going to be better than this. This motherboard can be renamed to be X870E without any other change. Also, I can find it in stock only at Scorptec and with an ATL price.

More suited to pc enthusiast than a typical ozbargainer. That overclocking better give me ~$550 worth difference in performance compared to decent motherboard priced @~$200.

Very hard to justify in spending that much on motherboard when you can use the price difference on other pc parts that will net you more gain in performance. Eg. upgrading Cpu, gpu etc…

Yep, I might post this to a wrong place :(

    • But what if all the other parts are already top of the line?

      • Then they are not typical ozbargainers. By the way, the margin we can get by overclocking is not even recognizable. They are only astonishing numbers. But it is still attractive For Those Who Dare.

Then keep your money in your pockets. You can probably buy 2 or 3 decent motherboards down the line with the money you saved than buying this one. Hardware unboxed done a recent video on roundup of B650 motherboards that wont throttle any current am5 cpu. That is more than sufficient for a typical ozbargainer.

This motherboard has its place for pc enthusiasts only imo.

I disagree, a bargain is a bargain, I bought all my parts through deals on oz bargain even my 4090. Oz bargain is not just for $50 amazon deals.

I am of same opinion. This website is about finding bargains, not what a typical OzBargainer would consider a bargain.

If you're passionate about overclocking or value premium hardware, you'll want to obtain the best deal on it.

Our interests are unique, so imagine how dull this website would be if everything was generic, normal, or typical.

If you don’t treat this niche as a hobby, you'll find more affordable alternatives. But we are all here for bargains of our own personal wants, needs and interests 😊

makes sense, I was thinking like this

    • I mean you can't even really OC with the zen cpus much anyway, not unless you got a pot of LN2 on hand

You might as well just get the B650 master from gigabyte saves 200 bucks, has all teh same features

      • I'm using the same one, Gigabyte B650E Aorus Master, the best designed AM5 board for now. AMD's PBO and PBO2 can already release the most ability of CPU, indeed there isn't much more potential to dig. Actually, this X670E Gene did not fully use the expansion ability of X670E chipset, limited by the mATX board size, also might because ASUS did not want more on that. It should use B650E chipset, but B boards would not be like a flagship.
Gene has 2 DIMM rather than 4 DIMM RAM slots, so it is more able to overclock RAM, similar to Z790 Apex Encore.

  • Last one! 5 or 6 more sold since I post this. Before I post this, Scorptec had been advertising this on the main page of their website for a while. I should be paid for marketing.
