Received ours. Very pleased with it. Accidentally bought yellow, but if turned out to be a pleasant cream that our daughter liked.

Does it have eSim built in?

      • +42

No, but SD card slot for expandable memory. Had to flash the firmware, as it only supported Chinese rain.

      • +2

We need bluetooth! Everything is better with bluetooth!

    • Accidentally bought red, no idea how it happened lol

      • +1

        That's a red flag lol

  • Got one last time, and agreed with above, pretty decent for the price.
Second one incoming for the other half

    • So good for the price? Sturdy enough?

      • +2

Zero complaints from my few test open /closes
        Yet to use in anger.

Unfortunately, experience was flawed for me. Received parcel 3 days back, pressed open button, the umbrella flew out like a dangerous projectile with the handle still gripped in my hand. The canopy portion detached completely. Couldn't put it back together. There's a fairly strong spring mechanism which I couldn't load back. Fortunately for me AliExpress decided to offer me free returns and refund on return arrival to their drop shipper UCL in NSW.

IT was quite easy to return. No fooling around by them. It's on it's way to Sydney. Let's see if the amount is refunded properly.

Not many bad reviews, maybe a quality control issue with mine. I got the red one.

I haven't had much experience with AliExpress.
May I ask, what's the difference between OP's item and this one https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006966460170.html? When I went to that one, they offered me $8.22 for the first one, a "welcome deal". I purchased a few times from AliExpress before, so not a new AliExpress member.
    Thanks

    • +3

You'll get the welcome deal if you haven't ordered in quite a long time. The normal price of that is higher than this so I'd say go for it since you have the welcome deal.

      • How long is a long time?

  • I just received mine not long ago from the last deal. It seems decent and solid build.

  • Just received mine from the last deal. Feels cheap to me and is really hard to push back down once closed. Question.. once I press the open button on the umbrella, is it suppose to open all the way up and out so that I don't have to push the umbrella up further to lock it in place?

    • +2

      Yep, should open completely
Sounds like you may have a dud

    • Mine was defective too. Flew out and detached completely. See my comment above. Returning mine

Is this a genuine xiaomi product? Or identical but without a logo?
Edit — found this "Xiaomi 12 Bone Solid color Automatic umbrella Light Collapsible Large size sunshade Uv protection Note: This is Xiaomi Ecological chain products, so there is no xiaomi logo, thanks."
    Whatever that means

    • +2

i think it's pretty safe to buy with 10,000+ sold.

    • Too me, it's not a genuine product made by Xiaomi…

    • +1

I doubt it, this is AliExpress, most likely to be a batch of products that was rejected by Xiaomi, due to sub standard quality.

    • It means that it has come from Xiaomi's crowdfunding site Youpin. Some projects there are funded by Xiaomi and get sold in their stores while others do not.

      • +9

So it's under the umbrella of xiaomi? (Sorry I had to 🤣)

    • +6

This store is called "Xiaomi Tool Store Store" and only has 6 followers. It's definitely counterfeit.

The real store is called "Xiaomi Mi Store" and has 1.6 million followers.

      • +2

The real store is called "Xiaomi Mi Store" and has 1.6 million followers.

Source? According to their business license it's run by Shenzhen Hangduo Technology Development Co., Ltd and not Xiaomi.

    • Hmm anyway to cancel my recent order, I'm a bit suss…?

    • +7

Xiaomi ecological chain products (impressively vague) are not actually by xiaomi. They're more like xiaomi affiliate products - made my another company which xiaomi approves of and in return they get to call themselves xiaomi. It's why there are so many xiaomi products. I don't know if there's an actual umbrella made by xiaomi?

  • +3

Just received mine few days ago from the last deal. It works okay but honestly I don't feel it's made by Xiaomi. As someone above mentioned, it's super hard to pull down the umbrella once it's closed. Material wise is also a cost down version in comparison with the genuine one (Or should I say "the first generation"?) Btw, mine came without an official Xiaomi's box. So… be prepared to "You get what you paid" if you decide go ahead with the purchase. :D

    • Agreed. This didn't feel like a fit and finish that I associate with xiaomi.

      • If this is xiaomi, quality has definitely dropped. These are nowhere as good as the automatics from xiaomi from a few years back for similar prices.

        • It's not made by Xiaomi, 100% clear to me based on blank packaging, poor product quality, not being sold by Xiaomi itself via their sales channel and Xiaomi itself does not currently make any type of umbrella.
          Counterfeit goods.

          • -1

@SimAus007: Counterfeit is quite the stretch. I've clarified further in the deal with this detailed explanation linked as well.

The tl;dr is that this is a Xiaomi ecological chain product and fits under the Xiaomi ecosystem umbrella. Other more well known brands include Roborock, Dreame, Viomi, Aqara and Yealink.

If you want to dive even further down the Xiaomi rabbit hole you'll discover that Xiaomi themselves don't even manufacture their own Xiaomi/Mi/Mijia branded phones, fitness bands or anything really. Zepp manufacture the Xiaomi Mi Bands and sell their other fitness products under their Amazfit brand.

            • -1

@Clear: Apple doesn't manufacture their own products either (made by Foxconn in China & India), but that doesn't make them non-genuine (counterfeit). I think you've missed the point.

              • -1

@SimAus007: Foxconn don't release products under the "Foxconn Brand Ecosystem" made by different manufacturers and brands. Xiaomi does and they always have.

A proper Xiaomi product that's not an ecosystem partner has the Mi (old) or Mijia (new) branding. I.e. Xiaomi Mijia Automatic Umbrella.

The seller has covered themselves by saying this anyway.

    • Sounds like my old og xiaomi umbrella from a few years back. Was always hard to close, especially that last push back into lock

    • I agree, mine also came without xiaomi box and doesn't look & feel like xaiomi quality that I know.
Hard to press and close too but hopefully works fine and withstand the strong wind yet to be tested.

Im okay as I paid $9ish for that.

    • Also agree with this comment. For $10 delivered (using welcome deal), it's OK. The one I got pops out ok and is not that hard to push back in, but it's definitely cheap feeling to me. It has 12 ribs though, so maybe it will last?

  • +1

no need to do the USD bit AUD was cheaper (by like 20-40c) than the rates above anyway

  • Bought this and another item from this seller during the last deal. Waited a week and had both items refunded with no explanation.

  • Anyone else getting charged for shipping? I thought it was free if the item is over $15

  • +8

I used this umbrella today Its flimsy compared to the OG xiaomi. The handle is considerably smaller making it harder to grip.

The OG one lasted me 6 years before i lost it. I dont see this one lasting a year.

    Save your $$ tbh

  • +2

Terrible quality. Hard to close and feels almost like the cheap ones you would buy walking past a 7/11 in the rain. I think it would last maybe 2 or 3 rainy days before it’s broken. Save your $$ and spend a bit more and get a proper Xiaomi

  • Costco (Boolaroo NSW) has the Shedrain auto umbrellas at $20 currently, $43 (on 'sale') on Amazon

  • Thanks guys for taking one for the team, don't think I'll order based on the reviews above

  • +1

This is not by Xiaomi. The only Xiaomi umbrella I'm aware of is the Xiaomi Mijia one that I own, and it's a beast in terms of build quality.

    • Is yours this one? Sounds like you rate it pretty well.

Unfortunately, no. There's a lot of counterfeit Xiaomi products on Aliexpress and I would guess this is one of them. The original Xiaomi Mijia Umbrella is no longer in production. It's a shame as it really was incredible.

It only came in black and had a squircle shaped handle and silver release button

I did hear the Xiaomi 90fun umbrella wasn't bad. It folds in reverse which is kind of cool, and has an LED light.

  • I've never had good experiences using AliExpress or similar online stores. I find that 90% of all the products are such poor quality. To me it feels like all their products are the "rejected" products that wholesale purchasers/people who source wouldn't buy. Lengthy shipping, fluctuating pricing, hurdles with refunds/customer service. I'd rather not have the hassle of using these platforms.

    • If you hate lengthy shipping buy Choice banner products which is nearly everything now. Shipping is typically 7 business days.

      • Thanks for the info!

  • Very good quality….

  • Quick delivery and good quality!

  • I think the quality is good. Only issue as others have mentioned is that its difficult to close. Better than any random umbrella, but wouldnt buy again
