Can't even figure out what 140k points converts to on their website, anyone know?

      70k Velocity

    • $670 in GC, minus AF, not bad at the moment..
      However:

Anyone applying for this should be aware that this is product is issued by Nab (which also issues Coles, Citi, BoQ and Virgin Money).

If you already have cards from any of those, it’ll likely weigh heavily against your application (thanks ACCC!).

    • wow. Suncorp is a bank in it's own right. I wonder why they piggyback off NAB?

      • They sold the portfolio to Citibank in 2008
        https://www.suncorpgroup.com.au/news/news/suncorp-and-citiba…

Will be interesting - Suncorp (soon to be owned by ANZ) cards issued by NAB (after their acquisition of Citi’s consumer banking business)

        • Suncorp Bank aka Suncorp-Metway, not Suncorp itself.

          • +1

@Savealopoulos: Correct, the bank portion will be part of ANZ. The insurance part is hoping to be more competitive with IAG and QBE without the bank business weighing down their multiples in the ASX.

    • Have you tried to apply two for NAB backed cards? I have one and thinkingnto apply this

      • I’ve got 3. Prestige, Citi Rewards Velocity and Virgin Money.

      • +1

I just applied for a Citibank and Suncorp (both NAB) the same day. Received a phone call that evening from NAB confirming if I want to indeed proceed with both, or just one. I confirmed both. 2 days later they were both approved. I currently also have 2 other Coles credit cards, also backed by NAB.

  • This is a great card for rewards, I've had a lot of coles gift cards from this card and I'll convert the remaining to flybuys points before I close the card before the year is over

Watch out because it seems they charge a fee for international transactions.

  • Is the idea here, sign up, get the points, spend the points, close the card?

    • That’s the idea.

      • Is the annual fee charged in the first bank statement?

    • The return rate is still inferior to the Coles Rewards Mastercard which offers 1% cashback in flybuys points for the first $3k/month. After that, it's identical to it at 0.5% cashback in points but the Coles Rewards Mastercard has a lower annual fee so it's the better card unless you want travel insurance in which you'll have to go with Suncorp as the Coles Rewards Mastercard doesn't offer it. So in summary, yes, this card is only beneficial to you if you're going to spend more than $25.8k/year after the first year.

      • I dont think ozbargain churners plan to keep CC for more than 1-3months. So, appx $476 from Suncorp is way better than $151 from Coles…

  • Closed mine a few months ago but the T&Cs don't appear to mention anything about time as previous customer in order to be eligible.

    • I'm curious, did you try and go for a refund on the annual fee?

      • no..just absorbed it. Didn't know it was even possible to ask for that fee refund?

    • I called them apparently you're not eligible if you have held this credit card before even after 12 months

      • oh.Thanks for clarifying but I think there are laws that they must deidentify customer data if no longer a customer. But not sure how long the law allows them to keep ex-customer's data.

    • The Ts&Cs at https://www.suncorpbank.com.au/bank-and-save/credit-cards.ht… certainly do not mention any 12 month backoff from having held card before. I suggest whatever is written in the Ts&Cs should be taken as accurate. I can confirm in the past I have closed this card, and then reapplied in less than 12 months, and still got the bonus.

      • This was before Suncorpbank got taken over. They’ve got a new owner now from what I’ve heard

        • New owner hasn't updated the T&Cs to reflect the 12 months exclusion period.

      • I can confirm in the past I have closed this card, and then reapplied in less than 12 months, and still got the bonus.

Have you tried it with both their qantas and rewards-only cards within the same 12 months?

        • Rewards only cards for me, I have not used Qantas FF cards.

  • Where does it mention about 1st year free?

    • Nowhere!

    • It says 1st Year FEE, not free.

  • Assuming Suncorp don’t have a PayAll option like Citi? Just regular $4,500 spending?

  • 110K gross income, 4K credit card with Amex, 355K shared home loan. No dependent.
Suncorp said I am not eligible for their product with my 'poor' credit score, again. I may have to stop churning NAB products for a while.

    • What’s your approx score?

    • Register for Illion or ClearScore so you can check your credit score before applying for credit card.

    • Weird I'm around similar financial status and got rejected as well with the usual spiel of vague reasons, with credit score at number 6. Though also suspect it has to do with all these NAB and CITI issued cards being connected now.

  • Anyone have any real world evidence on how long until the bonus points are credited? I’m aware t&cs say 6-8 weeks.

  • I got my first statement today and was charged the annual Fee. Met the minimum spend multiple times over inside the first statement period.

If you guys login to Suncorp rewards, do you see any points accrued yet? (Just the standard from spend, not actually bonus)
Wondering how long they take to show there and also bonus points in reality..

    • I also received my first statement today.
Spent about $2500 this statement and the rewards page showing I have 0 points.

      Is yours also showing 0?

      • Yup, 0 points earned, no mention of points on the statement either, odd.
Typically the earned points (not bonus) are pretty quick after the statement, with the bonus suffering the 1-2 month lag. Let's see!!

        • +1

It might be worth calling Suncorp to ask about the 0 points
Looking at past deals, people received their base points and bonus points immediately with their statements

        • I called Suncorp and apparently there's a known issue with newly opened cards where the points are not credited to the accounts correctly.
They will credit my points in the next 3 business days.
You will have to call them to get them to credit the card base points and bonus points.
Let me know how it goes

          • @gembel: My Suncorp account is saying I don't even have a valid rewards card, and to sign up for a platinum card (despite the card being a platinum card). Is that the same for you?

            • @SirPumpkinator: On which page do you see this?
Are you able to see the Rewards page at all?

              • @gembel: Looking at suncorp.cardservicesdirect.com.au, Rewards -> Benefits. I get told "To access Suncorp Bank Rewards, you need to be a Platinum Credit Card customer." Under Rewards -> Points Earned, I have "Reward Points: 0".

I'm on the phone to them right now. CS was saying "Hmm, I'm confused why you have no points too. Let me look into this".

          • @gembel: CS has acknowledged the same issue as what you've mentioned - however is determining if my card is affected by the same incident report.

Interestingly, the Citibank card that I also opened on the same day also shows 0 points. I'll have to ask about that one next too - I wonder if they'll let me do it on the same phone call and make me call back (assuming it's the exact same call queue, both being with NAB)!

  • +2

For anyone not seeing their points showing up - Customer Support have just confirmed that any cards issued after 22nd July have not been automatically enrolled in the rewards program. Apparently my card had to be manually enrolled, and then a request put in to recalculate any purchases on my card and their respective rewards points (will take up to 3 business days). She said she made a note regarding the 140,000 introductory points offer, but thinks it would sort itself out once my other points were recalculated.

    • Has yours updated yet? Mine is still showing 0 reward points

      • Nope. Same here.

        • I'm seeing around 100 points on my account now, dated 28th. I'm not sure if this is from recent transactions or from the transactions at the beginning of last statement.

          • @gembel: Probably recent, as I still have 0, and haven't used my card in the past week and a bit.

            • @SirPumpkinator: can see my points now from the previous statement spending

have you received your base points and bonus points?

              • @gembel: I've got my 6,781 points for statement, ready to go. No bonus points. You?

                • @SirPumpkinator: Got my first statement points. No bonus points yet either

                  • @gembel: Just received a call back from CS. They let me know all my points from previous statement period have been calculated. I asked her to check into the bonus points. She said she can see that I've satisfied all requirements, so it will be 6-8 weeks from the date I reached the $4,500 spending.

                    • @SirPumpkinator: hopefully we will receive it not too long after. need to churn this card

    • Wow after the qantas points debacle last year where something similar happened, you'd think they'd have sorted out these IT issues.

  • I'm now seeing points after calling, however no 140k bonus points yet.

    • did you spend the min requirement on your first statement?
might want to try calling again for the bonus points

    Looks like back on .
Can anyone explain to me the Overseas Travel and Medical Insurance

  • I received an email with a message "This is a friendly reminder about your introductory bonus reward points offer" even though I've already met the minimum spending criteria!

    • Just got my email too. CS had already confirmed I'd satisfied requirements last week though.

      • my base points from the previous statement seem to have doubled! they must have re-calculated it twice

        • Hahaha, mine too! Free $30 extra for me. Better than a slap in the face with a wet fish.

  • Still waiting for the bonus points…

  • Has anyone received the bonus points yet?

  • Got my second statement today, and 140k bonus points came with the statement.

    • Woo! Good to hear. My statement is due in 4 days.

    • Yep, mine came through on statement.

  • Why didn't I see this offer before applying for the st. george card.. I guess i'll get some bonus from shopback purchases

  • I was churning this one, and after reading this thread, called to confirm I was a previous Suncorp customer, with a credit card just over 12 months ago, and the person who answered the call confirmed I would be eligible for the 140k bonus points

    • Have they approved you though?

      • Waiting on this…

        • Let me know how you go! Curious if they'd approve me again, despite only signing up in August, and cancelling in September. ha

  • So there's no 12 month waiting period for this card to receive the sign up bonus?

  • Met the $4500 spend in the first month, 6-8 weeks to wait for the 140k points to land. Bit long isn't it? Does it take that long for those who've got to this point? Used the card to pay for council rates and home insurance as part of the spent so worried that doesn't count towards the $4.5k. TIA.

    • I got my points on the second statement, which was roughly 6 weeks from getting the card and 5 weeks from meeting spend requirement.

  • Conflicting messages. No mention of 12-month waiting period in their T&Cs, someone mentioned once you've had this card once you're no longer eligible forever. I just called and was told it has a 12-month waiting period.

    • +1

Eh someone else in that same convo thread said they got it despite being not waiting 12 months. I took a punt as got no other cards in the meantime to apply for haha. Wasn't originally gonna try Suncorp again after the delay issues last year with Qantas, which from the August comments here appear to have happened again lol.

      • Yep, was gonna apply too but only had this cancelled back in Feb. Fingers crossed you get the points!

        • Reporting back as I just received my first statement and the bonus points were on there. Now I'm curious if there's actually zero downtime or the typical citibank 3 months etc lol.

          • @vawiyoci: Great news? Did you wait for 3 months before reapplying?
Also, any idea when is the actual "closing date" in their system? For instance, lets say I closed the card on Aug 1, but I had balance remaining I had to pay off, the balance cleared on same date, but a final statement came on Sep1 with the balance cleared. So, does that mean the last statement generation date is my "closing date"?

            • @uptowndjango: I think I was just a couple of months short of a year from my previous closure. Other comments were making an educated guess based on Citi's own cards which also didn't have exclusion periods in their t&cs, though sometimes they automatically reject you if you try to apply within 3 months.

With regards to the account closure date I would assume it's simply the one on the letter they send you? Regardless of any outstanding balance etc.

  • Anyone know how long it takes them to send the gift card?

    • Do you mean to get the sign-up bonus points? Took till my second statement.
I used the points to get digital gift cards, which were instantaneous.

    • Redeemed on 20th Oct. Still nothing in inbox.

      • Same, I had to go to redemption history and get it resent

  • Are people getting the points as mentioned above? Not many people confirming
