how does it compare against the carlinkit 5.0 2air for the same price?

    • +3

I have both, the carlinkit is 3 time fast to connect my phone. I bought one on this deal and have only had it fail to connect to my phone twice after starting the car and have used it for a month so far with no dropped out.

Recommend carlinkit after using both. Also covers both android and apple

i bought xuda carplay as a suggestion came from another ozbargainer… and im very happy with that purchase… im using this in a mazda CX9

    • I was looking at these the other day.

How does it handle multiple people in the car? My wife and i both use the car i was going to put this in. What happens if we are both in it?

      • you can simply turn off the bluetooth of the other person's phone :)
when yours connected, ask to turn the bluetooth on again..

      • There's a button on it. If you press that, it will disconnect and tries to reconnect to another.
        Edit - I'm talking about MA1.

      • You have to turn off Bluetooth on the phone you don't want to connect if it wasn't the last phone connected (i.e. it will automatically connect to the last phone that was connected but will let you pair it with multiple phones). It's a bit annoying and am looking into a Carlinkit for my second car which often has both of us in the car at the same time.

    • Bought one and love it - been super reliable over the last few weeks. I'm fortunate that my car turns on the USB ports when the car is unlocked so I'm basically instantly connected. That said, dual person use is a pain as you have to turn off Bluetooth on one of the phones to switch. Apparently, Carlinkit has a screen that lets you pick so I'm going to pick up one for the other car.

      • oh yeah.. it's a pain.. but can't complain coz it's fast too.
im seeing a little lag with YouTube music as well.

btw do you have a youtube video link or something similar showcasing that carlinkit is prompting which phone to choose?

    • I got one of these Zudas also after reading an OzBargain comment but am having trouble connecting it.
Am I meant to "forget" my Bluetooth pairing with my car before initiating this ?

    • hey @kodi-j,

Any idea how to get this Xuda to work?
Not liking my S24+ with my Hilux and Kluger..

is your Hilux and Kluger supporting Android Auto/ Apple Carplay with wired mode?
Xuda is pretty much making wired connection to Wireless.

You have to plug the Xuda into the same USB port which you are connecting your Android Auto/ Apple Carplay.
Then, connect to Xuda using Wifi

        • All good mate cheers, got it working, had to get a Y cable off Amazon to give the Xuda extra juice

Have one, works great 99% of the time. Very (very) ocassionally need to unplug/replug.

  • The positive about this product is that you could pair two phones to it (not sure if more). So if you share your car with your partner, it's alright.
The negative is once in a while with no reason it goes crazy and you need a full reset and you may spend half an hour resetting it.

      This.

      See my comments here.

The $30 one I replaced it with is way more stable. But it cannot be paired with 2 phones. I still consider it an improvement though. The MA1 has been a nightmare.

      • Yeah my expectations are not high…
Initially I bought this and it was alright. But pairing with two phones was important to me and I returned it and bought the MA1.

      • I went with your suggestion and its been rock solid for $32 and works with AA and CP

  • Personally found the CarlinKit 5.0 2AIR on AliExpress has worked perfectly at closer to $50. Also has a USB-C out so I can charge through it if I want.
Haven't had any need to reset or any connection cut-outs.

I have a MA1, had it for years. Works great. One strange thing Ive noticed, is when I drive past a particular fire station it drops out for about 30 seconds. Every time without fail. But just this one fire station. weird.

    • Mine dropped out in the vicinity of any cell tower.

      • Mine drops out the same spot everyday without fail. Seems to be a parking available sign across the road from a shopping centre. Presume it's something to do with wireless signal interference.

        • This happened to me constantly with my AAWireless and my Pixel 6 Pro. Drove me mad as the dead spot was just outside our home coming out of our underground car park, so I couldn't start my navigation.

When I upgraded to my Pixel 7, the problem disappeared. Go figure!

  • Very good, super reliable, use it every day - paid over $120…

  • used this with my S23 Ultra. Worked like 90% of the time, i did notice it will disconnect when driving under toll points. and there were some random areas in woop woop areas where it will disconnect (at the same spot.

  • Recommend the OG of these kind of dongles. AAWireless.
Works very well and even better now that they support Apple CarPlay also.

  • Had this for a couple of years, takes a few seconds to start up, but other than that works very well (more reliably than our newer car which has built in wireless AA).

  • Got a $30 smart box with same functionality that works great in the MG5. Save your money

  • There's ones on Amazon that are cheaper and are basically a USB drive format which I prefer. I bought one, works fine, generic brand
