Bought $450 Uber eats and $400 timezone

    Thanks OP!

    • +34

Cost of living issues - not for you!

      • +5

He/she mush be one of those politician got paid raise recently

        • +3

yea….IMO i dunno who orders uber eats these days.. too lazy to move their bum to get something.. the marked up costs and potential hazardous materials (added ingredients) in the food forces me to just get it my self..

          • +1

@ruztynail: Yeah this discount for UberEats would still be about 10% more expensive than the total order cost from Menulog for a few restaurants I've checked near where I live. I don't really get why UE has such a big price jack, and a mate who's driven for both swears by Menulog getting him more consistent money than UberEats. So I dunno man, kinda feels like UE is just trying to increase its profits

            • +1

@aaronsd: I wait for the deals, eg. Spend $20, one free item combined with UberOne and the prices are pretty decent.

I wouldn't order at full price.

          • +1

@ruztynail: I never got it either, same with groceries delivering apps. I'm about 5 minutes away - as are most people - from a supermarket or varying mum & dad stores. Why wouldn't I just go up and get my stuff by myself? Especially not having guarantees that everything will be delivered perfectly.

            • +1

@FallaM: I agree. However there are exceptions.
I (and kid) got Covid that lingers for two weeks and I was so tired that I didn't think I could drive. I have kids to fed too.
The only way to survive is to order foods & grocery online.

            • +1

              @FallaM: .

My food is included in my rent; I'm a student on campus. And so I can save money by not having Uber eats. Sadly campus food is bad.

    • +1

imagine thinking paying for uber eats itself is a deal lol

      • There are (many) people who live off of food delivery and accept the associated fees.. it's hard to accept when you can feed yourself for less than half but I suppose not everyone is frugal

  • +4

Ultimate Variable load is included! Thanks OP, perfect timing :)

  • +1

Great deal but I assume you miss out on Uber One promos if you use a gift card to pay?

    • +11

nope, account credit just works like your payment method on your account, on top of whatever promos you have

    • +6

Negative. Assuming you signed up to Uber One using one of the Mastercard promos? As long as your MasterCard is set as the preferred payment method, you still get Uber One benefits when paying with Uber Cash (gift card credits).

      • +1

I was told by an Uber CS rep as my Uber one was through the mastercard deal I won't get any credit if paying by gift cards. And it seems that is the case as I didn't get any….

        • +1

Yep I experienced this the other day. Cost me $40 for a kebab because I didn't realise. Customer support don't give a damn that it's misleading having the discount present in the total, but then charging you delivery if you don't use the exact same card you used to sign up to the promo.

          • +1

@nebula9: When I last had an Uber One free trial I managed to get around the free delivery issue by paying for almost all of the bill with vouchers/credit, but paying a small amount with the Mastercard. Not sure if there was a minimum, but worked even if it was only a couple of dollars.

    • +2

confirmed you still get uber one benefit even paying with uber wallet giftcard credits (loaded via giftcard)
just did this for my dinner

      • Why wouldn’t you? Or are you referring to being on a free Uber one deal where you had to add a certain card

        • +1

refer to the Uber change happened in June 2024

Gift Cards may no longer be used to top up Uber Cash balance

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/15316143/redir

          • @littlesoldier: I don’t understand the difference between Uber cash and gift card balances they both work to buy food

            • +1

@Onemoredeal: its a bit of confusion
When Uber just announce this change
some other comments said Uber cash can be used on top of your selected payment method (eg. credit card)
while Giftcard is treated as a separated payment method

so there are people worrying that complimentary Uber One will no longer stack with Uber giftcard
as you need to choose the card as payment method to get the Uber One discount

But it looks like that there's no change in using Uber One discount even after the June 2024 changes

Spent the last 12 months using UberEats to buy food delivered to my door cheaper than driving to pick it up.

      Discounted gift cards
      Uber specials
      Uber One Specials
      Store offers

if 2 or 3 of these line up and stack, it's very good value..

      • -2

There’s no way you are making enough to cover the 30% markup & service charge, then to further save on top of that to be “cheaper than driving to pick it up”

        • +7

I think they explained it fairly well above, most of the orders I do work out cheaper than picking it up directly from the store.

I usually stack a 20% off promo with a restaurant specific offer and pay using discounted gift cards.

Past two orders have been $20 off $40 Coles, paid with discounted gift cards.

        • -1

Theres a Chicken shop in western Sydney where its cheaper on uber eats than the shop itself stack with uber one and discounts or shopback and its a bargain

        • Nah you can. Stacking promos is kind of absurd. Especially 2 for 1 deals.

        • +1

ya. i rather not.. fancy some "added ingredients" in the delivered food.. or "missing fries"

  • +17

Reminder that uber gift cards can be used to backpay recent orders! Go into order details and change payment method :)

    • sad that there's a max limit of giftcard balance of A$1000

      • +1

So annoying. Uber elsewhere allows 2000 USD to be loaded

    • Is it just for last one order? Good to know though

      • +2

        Orders in last 30 days

    • +1

I think they stopped this when it changed from Uber Cash to a gift card system

Either that or they removed it from my account

    • +1

How do you do this? I can't find the option to change payment in any of my ride/orders

    • Is this only for Uber eats?

      • Uber credit is interchangable

    • +2

My brain not braining, what do you mean backpay recent ubereats orders with gift cards, hasn't it already been paid for with your credit card?

      • +1

        Yeah… What?

        • They refund you the amount paid via CC and debit it from your Uber GC balance.
To do this, go to: Account > Orders > Select the order > "Get Help" > "Past Order" > "Change Payment Method" via the chatbot and fill in the form. Did it this morning and got a positive response within 10 mins.

          • @DrPotato: How long does the refund take to appear on your credit card?

            • +1

@sween64: Depends on your bank but it shouldn't take more than 3-4 business days.

            • +1

@sween64: Mine came almost immediately (updated on the banking app)

    • +1

Thanks! This is a great tip!

  • +1

Anyone know whether you can get the $15 promo credit twice if you buy two $100 netflix in two separate transactions?

  • How do you use the ultimate cards online? got one from before but it has 6 different strings of numbers on it with no instruction like wtf?

    • +1

Ultimate giftcard is a prepaid visa card
find the string with 16 digit number and use "credit card" payment type in the online store
you can also find the expiry month/year and CVV in the digital ultimate giftcard

      • The one I have is physical, it doesn't have a expiry date, just a blank date of issue which wasn't even filled

      • Can we use digital Ultimate Eats gift card to pay for stuff in store? Do we have to add to Apple Pay / Google Wallet first?

        • +1

yes, just add to apple pay / google wallet, then tap and pay

      • tried that on Kathmandu and could not get it to work. would love to know what we were doing wrong.

  • How does the payment show up in the bank statement? Does it show that it is for a giftcard or just an Amazon purchase? I was to use my credit card for spending the minimum amount to my QFF / Velocity points.

    • just show as Amazon.com.au in my bank transaction

    • +3

@saculim From a previous gift card purchase in June:

      • Business name
        Amazon
        AMAZON AU RETAIL SYDNEY

      • Category
        Shopping

      • Description
Shop online for Electronics Computers Clothing Shoes Toys Books DVDs Sporting Goods Beauty & more.

Can we use the Timezone gift cards bought from Amazon to top up our account when there are x2 credit promotions from Timezone, and are there any limit or restrictions?

    • You can but in-store only.

    • +3

You can online as well since these are timezone giftcards

      • When next DD is coming?

        • I wonder 🤔

  • -1

Does anyone have experience purchasing two $100 Netfix on separate transactions and receiving $15 credit for each purchase or is it only a one-time $15 credit?
Note: I only made 1 purchased of $100 and receive the $15 credit, haven't try to purchase another as I'm not sure if another $15 credit will be issued.
    Thanks

    • +2

The t&c says redeemed once per customer

      • thank you

      • I think it is correct that you will likely only get the credit once. However, it is poorly worded in the Ts & Cs - i.e. " The promotional credit can only be redeemed once per customer on eligible items.". You 'get' the credit when you purchase the gift card - you 'redeem' the credit when it is applied to the purchase of eligible items. Technically, this does not say you will only get the credit once.

    • Make another Amazon account with free trial(prime) for up to 30 days and see if it works for you

    • I just ordered twice and got benefit confirmation email twice too :)

      • From the same prime account? Interesting.

  • +9

Used the $15 promo from netflix gc to buy $50 ultimate gc

    • +1

No minumum spend on the $15 promo credit either it seems, and works for the other gift cards too.

Used my $15 promo credit to buy a $17.05 ubereats gift card

  • Trying to buy $100 Timezone GC but its not showing any promotion at checkout, showing full value i.e. $100.

  • Can I use multiple of the $500 at Officeworks? And is it possible to do it online? If anyone has experience please lmk

    • +2

In store, I have used $100 x 11 cards for one purchase with no issues. Not sure about online

    • I have used multiple gift cards in the past in store at Officeworks. However that was because online you can only use 1.

    • I'd also like to know this as well.

I wonder if you can place the order over the phone instead?

    • Instore yes, but subjective to cashier. Online no.

    • I've tried paying online with a few gift cards but it only accepted the first and the balance needed a credit card. Opted to go in-store to get the item instead and paid it with the gift cards.

  • +1

Timezone gone? I am not seeing 15% discount in the cart

    • works for me, in cart is says $150 card is $127.50

    • I am not seeing the discount either.

  • How long does it take to receive Netflix gift cards/? Ordered one and waiting

    • Mine took about 10 minutes, they also for some reason when into spam so maybe keep an eye out for that.

      • Checked spam as well. More than 30 min.

        • +1

My uber eats one is now more than 30 min, but I can view the order in Amazon and it says "Processing" / "not yet sent". It calms me to know it hasn't been sent, vs not received.

          • @vorsprung: Likely all stuck on payment verification/credit card fraud hold with Amazon agents. Has happened once or twice before to me IIRC

    • Mine is saying processing in Amazon orders from 3am!
      Still haven’t received it

      • Yes, I've had the same experience. Gift card issue time is stated as 5 minutes with maximum 1-2 hours on product listing and confirmation email. Customer service advised it will take up to 1-2 days. The product description is misleading and should be corrected.

    • Mine came within a minute or two

      • +1

        That's what she said.

    • Mine took about a day last time. But usually other gift cards are pretty quick on Amazon!

  • Is there any service charge on ultimate gift cards? Like upfront 8% off but any charge on utilization?

  • -2

Can you swap Netflix or Timezone gift card with other

  • Does anyone know if the Ultimate gift cards can be used at Officeworks to purchase Coles group gift cards or prepaid visa cards?

    • +6

I am fairly sure that does not work anymore.

      • The Officeworks gift card policy states that you cannot use any type of gift cards at Officeworks (including Ultimate gift cards) to purchase any gift cards.

      • Officeworks also progressively updated their in-store checkouts in June 2023 to automatically reject an Ultimate gift card as a payment (even one stored on a mobile wallet) if you are purchasing a gift card. An Invalid Product Mix error should flash up on the EFTPOS terminal, plus the staff member should get a message on their checkout screen saying a gift card type payment method cannot be used in that transaction. (Yes, this has happened to me.)

      • If you try to make a purchase online or over-the-phone, the Officeworks website should also refuse to process payment from the Ultimate gift card.

      • +1

        Good times my friend

  • -1

How much time it takes for gift card to be received in mail? I havent gotten it yet and its been 30 mins already.
