    • Saw limited stock in Adelaide.

I have been using these for few months now. Remember it can’t continuously record the video. Recording is only triggered when an event occurs. Sometimes it starts recording when person is already half way your driveway.

    • How did you find their app? I'm returning my Swann camera as in addition to quality issues with their cameras, their app would take ages to load and crash frequently.

      • App has been fantastic. There are options like selecting detection zones. So, you can select specific area to alert for pets, motion, person or vehicle. I was getting lot of false positives initially, but detection zones has fixed it for me. At times you miss continuous recording because in case of an event outside your detection zone it won’t do anything.
I bought solar panel for 20 dollars from eBay and battery is sitting at 100% ever since.
I have tapo door bell as well that works well from same application. When battery goes down for doorbell I just exchange it with camera battery. Takes 2 minutes and you don’t have to wait for hours for battery to charge.

        • I recently bought this from the recent JB deal for $369. Battery is draining fast in my case, triggering many events. Pls provide the links for solar panel.

            • @Timtamdoritos: Interesting, this might convince me to get the cameras, had a look at the official tapo solar panels for like 50+ each, didn't think that was worth the cost all together.

Do you know if these also work with Ring?

              • @Tbargain12: Sorry no clue about ring. It comes with microusb cable and microusb to type c converter.

                • @Timtamdoritos: So u connect the solar panel to the camera thru microusb or type c port?

          • @Utsav23: Can u do live view with mobile phone app or can u only view footage when there is a trigger event

        • How did u diy attach the $20 solar panel to the camera?

In the Tapo app, there is an option to set the cameras to continuously record
      https://ibb.co/vs4k9HV

      • The feature is called detection recording. If you don’t want camera to record even when event is detected you can schedule it here. So, no it can’t continuously record.

As per tplink website: Battery cameras/doorbells (like Tapo C410/C420/C425/D230) do not support RTSP streaming as it will keep the camera awake, which will cause the camera battery to be exhausted within a few days.

Edit: Just compared your screenshot with what I see in my app, mine doesn’t show continuous recording option. So we are talking about different models I think.

        • Hmm thats a shame. Would be useful if it captured and stored the initial 10-20s before the detection event, it wouldn't take up that much more memory and battery.

Could you play around with the motion detection sensitivity settings?

        • Oh cant record continously. Can it at least do live view from mobile phone?

Any other brands on sale that can do continuous recording

Also i think i read anothe thread a while ago that rstp was recording to the local harddrive/sd card rather than the cloud. Is that true?

      • Oh so u can do continous recording?

Also can i do live view from mobile phone app?

        • You can but it seems to be limited to wired cameras. I have C210's (indoor wired cameras) and can do live view from the TAPO app.

    • Is there at least live view you can watch on your mobile phone from time to time?

    • Did you do it online or in store?

  • Had a 2 pack of C425s that I returned because the detection was kinda subpar. Bought some Reolinks to replace them but haven't had the chance to set them up yet.

    • All battery cameras have subpar motion detection and recording/battery life.
      Reolink is no better.

I've had 2 or 3 Reolink Argus 2E cameras fail on me in less than 3yrs

      • Oh wow

Is there a wired camera u recommended then?

    • Wqs the reolinks a deal from ozbargain

  • Can you store locally on the hub and then selectively access via the web?

Looking to reduce upload bandwidth on a security set up but retain remote access.

    Thanks for any input y'all

  • I've got two of these and a hub at home. I cannot work out what the IP addresses of the cameras are as only the hub is handed an IP address. Does anyone know how to look them up? The instructions to find them in the app doesn't work.

  • Can you add solar panel to it?
    Does it have USB-C

Wondering if Officeworks has this and will price match?

    • They have changed their price

  • is this subscription free?

    • Yes, you have a little hub that saves locally to an SD card

      • Is it recommended to use endurance card like for dash cam?

        • Absolutely yes if you want it to last

  • Team, I purchased this yesterday. Since OW reduced the price, I negotiated in-store to save a few dollars. After some discussion, JB Hi-Fi agreed to reduce the price to $335. Thanks to the store representative for the help!"

    • Oh does jb have a price beat policy
