    Do I need it? No..
Can I afford it? No but in BOLD.

    • +5

      So what ya gonna print?

      • Touche.

        HA! Nah, Maybe next month.

    • +5

      Step 1: Buy it
Step 2: Print cash using 3d printer
      Step 3: ????
      Step 4: Profit!!

      • +1

        Hmm good thinking.
Print my own lego, Sell it as leggos, Profit?

  • @MBix have you used yours yet, or still waiting until September 😅

    • +2

Taunting me from inside the box still well hidden. It's my lil dudes birthday present in September. The willpower to not open it to "test" it has been something else let me tell you. Big ups to the eBay seller though, got here to Perth within 5 days of them accepting the offer.

I showed my son a floppy disk and he thought I 3d printed the Save icon!

  • nice find. heard good things about the K1C.

  • Is it possible to print a blu ray/dvd case?

  • Been interested in getting a 3D Printer to learn and print some cool stuff - how does this unit fair in terms of a "starter" printer for the money spent?

Was looking at the V3 for $208 from the previous deal but never made the commitment…

    • The V3 SE & KE sale pricing has ended, so I'd say get a Bambu A1 Mini or A1 as your first printer.
Either from Amazon deal or Direct as their sale pricing is continuing.

      Pair with some JAYO filament

      • So the K1C might be overkill? The appeal of having it enclosed is quite enticing - and seemingly smaller physical footprint of the unit

        • +1

it's not overkill. I was going to say that the appeal of these is the fully enclosed and smaller foot print.

Going with Bambu will just give you the option to use existing profiles without having to go through the slicer, but knowing how to slice your own files is something every person should learn.

It's more the price points and what you think you will want to print.

          A1 Mini $329
          A1 $499
          A1 Mini AMS $579
          K1C $650
          A1 AMS $750
          P1S $899
          P1S Combo $1,299

add shipping for Bambu unless buying from Amazon shipping in the cost.

The previous KE deals would be an option if it comes under $300 again.

    • One of the hardest parts in 3D printing is the adhesion of the first layer of the printing materials on the bed.

An enclosed version of printer like this will lower the fluctuation of the bed temperature so it would be easier to stick.

CoreXY setup should make bed levelling easier and to maintain.

N.B. 3D printing for a couple of years and then stopped for 5 years this far.

      • +1

Better bed adhesion and leveling are not due to enclosed printer. PEI bed, which most modern printers use has been a game changer. I used a glass bed before and PEI is so much better.

Modern printers like K1C have automatic leveling, so the user does not have to do anything.

Coming from an Ender 3 v2, my Sovol SV06 Plus has been such an improvement, I wonder how much life will be easier with a Bambu or a K1. Just don't have a budget to upgrade currently.

        • used to play with Ender 3 and anycubic kossel. with the advancement of technology think I should start looking into the new models that you mentioned.

          • +1

@siuol: totally different now, most of them are assembled and printing within 10-15 minutes.

        • +1

yeah PEI bed is super easy to take prints off.

          Auto-level & Z-offset makes printing a breeze for beginners.

The benefit of being enclosed for adhesion would be for ABS and other filaments that may warp due to temperature variance.

      • +2

One of the hardest parts in 3D printing is the adhesion of the first layer of the printing materials on the bed

Uh… maybe five years ago on budget printers, but not these days. Auto bed tramming and PEI makes first layer problems largely a thing of the past. Even the venerable Prusa bedslinger has no problems reliably putting down the first layer.

Temperature fluctuations are a concern more with ABS/PC type filaments warping when the object gets to height, not with first layer adhesion.

Edit: Just realised that @impoze said exactly the same thing first.

I bought for this seller recently. I'm on day 6 on their "free 4 day shipping" it's not marked as shipped and seller won't respond to me.

    Dispute ahoy at midnight.

    • might be worth a neg

    • How did you go with this? Did your order arrive?

      • Day 10 today on their 4 day shipping.

Seller did the usual thing dropshippers like to do when stalling, generate a shipping label. They eventually shipped something that will probably arrive this afternoon. Will refuse delivery if I'm home at all.

Why? Because before they actually shipped it, I told the seller not to, and asked for a refund. And seller alternated between lying and ignoring previous polite attempts to ask what was going on.

        • What happened in the end? I ordered on the 8th… last tracking event from Team Global Express was on the 10th… and their ETA has remained the 17th since then. Which is today… I'm fairly sure it isn't going to arrive.

          • @Lodion: I opened a eBay dispute. Refused delivery when it did finally arrive and refund confirmed today actually. Seller wasted two weeks of my time.

Meanwhile I bought a Bambu a1 combo and am doing the initial setup while typing this.

Check the actual tracking with the courier/ auspost as opposed to eBay. More info generally.

            • @Sharttown: Yeah, the courier they've used is Team Global Express. Just Toll rebaged, ie crap.

              • @Lodion: Shocker… tracking updated at ~4:50pm today "Held up in transit. Linehaul breakdown - held in depot". Timestamp on the update said 12:00am… I'd been refreshing all day, so know that was a lie.

                • @Lodion: Unsurprising update. You have 4 day shipping on your listing also?

                  • @Sharttown: I didn't note any 4 day shipping on the eBay listing.

This morning I've received an "out for delivery" update. Assuming that happens, I'm happy enough… so long as it hasn't been damaged in transit.

                    • @Lodion: K1C arrived safely. All set up and running happily, its awesome.

                    • @Lodion: I think in the end they did me a favour. I'm beyond happy with my bambu the ams alone is a crazy good upgrade vs my old ender 3v2.

  • I think Bambu is preparing for next gen x1 and p1 this year. Hopefully a multi head would be awesome.

    • +1

They have already said that they will be releasing a new flagship this year.

Frankly built video also mentioned the 300x300 sized Bambu coming out in Q3.

  • +2

Looks like this has been price jacked by the seller - showing as $919 now before discount :(

    • boo!

      • +1

Seller accepted my offer for the same price pre-jack…I should have tried a lower offer!

Guess I might as well grab this one - I don't mind tinkering so it could be a great learning experience.

        Thanks for the insight OP!

        • +1

          nice!

There's not too much to tinker with these, perhaps a few printed mods like lid riser.

          I would suggest looking at:

          • K1C Root to get full access
          • Mainsail/Fluidd interface
          • KAMP (Adaptive Mesh & Purge)
          • Spoolman (I saw it's added into KIAUH
          • Obico - remote access/camera spaghetti detection
          • Crowsnest - Cameras
    • Does this one end up being about the same deal, but they force you to buy the fillement as well?
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/235606003345

      • I managed to submit an offer for the price before it got jacked ($780) and it was accepted. Not sure if the extra 15% for 4kg of filament is worth it when there's another deal already linked in OP's previous comment for 10kg of filament in different colours

      • Thanks, I've ordered that one with the 15% off code. Counting the filament as $100 worth, makes the printer price ~$680.

  • I feel like ill be rocking my prusa 3s forever.
