    @Jimothy Wongingtons great deal!!

    • +4

      Perfect!!

Price protections will be lodged tomorrow!

      • I think you can already do that now

        • +2

Nah prices don’t look live yet, they will prob update on Amazon too tomorrow, I’ll price protect against Amazon

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: ah Amazon, I was reading some comments on Reddit that they already got the credit but that was direct through Bambu

            • @impoze: I also ordered an A1 Combo from Amazon last week for the full price :( - which price protection are you referring to? through your credit card?

              • @jar-unit: do a live chat with Amazon rep if you don't have it with credit card

                • +1

@impoze: they said that that was the best price they could do at the time and did not offer anything for the difference in price unfortunately

  • +8

No discount on standalone AMS systems is a bummer :(

    • Honestly so annoying yea

    • Same. I have a P1P I'd like to get an AMS and side panels for, but i'm not willing to pay full price.

    • exactly what i wanted too :( have a p1p

    • yep same here got a mini and now want the AMS but not at full price

    • +2

      looks like they are listening

      @sabretooth @rip_ghost @doggmatic

      • Nice. We'll see what price turns up! Hopefully they list the P1P upgrade kit too.

        • +3

          $535 down to $459. Approximately a 15% discount. Hmm.

      • gosh I hope so! still dont see anything on their site showing it but I guess there is still 4 hours to go.

    • +1

AMS is on sale now for $459 plus shipping

      • +1

AMS lite 329 (70 off). The combo is so cheap now though it means you can get a second A1 mini for $250 kind of thing

  • Nice.

I've been looking up recommendations for the P1S vs the X1C. Does anyone here have experience? It sounds like the difference comes down to better build quality, ethernet and the camera. I'm not sure if that's worth the extra $700

    • +1

I don't own either, but pretty sure the print results you'll get out of them is the same. Apart from what you mentioned, the X1C has a better interface on the printer itself, but if you are using the app or computer to start jobs probably not that big a deal. I believe there are 3rd party addon screens you can get/build for the P1S though.
One other difference I know of is the custom firmware is only for the X1C.
Again probably not things that would justify the extra $.

    • +4

Have owned both now only have P1S's.

      X1C vs P1S
Lidar for flow calibration and print failure detection
      Touch screen
      Hardened extruder gear
      Better camera
Aluminium vs plastic case on the P1S
Build plate 110 vs 100c max on the P1S
Toolhead cable is type c vs some micro connector on the P1S.

I prefer the P1S in my farm for the price point, reliability and simplicity. Lowest hour printer currently is a P1S with just shy of 1400 hours and the only
drama with it so far is a loose toolhead cable to the MCU and a extra screw found in the back of the case. Rest are rock solid besides my own self caused issues.
Print quality is exactly the same but i'm using orca slicer with tweaked profiles. Imo P1S is a no brainer.

      • Why did you choose Orca?

        • Kept getting suggested to try it by customers and compared to superslicer it has a few more nice to have features.
Also super easy to manage 9 networked printers and send jobs to them all.

      • What filament are you predominantly using for your products? I print ASA and not sure how the printers will hold up with hours with chamber temps of 50+ degrees.

        • Own brand of ASA-CF, ABS & Petg. My second youngest P1S has nearly 1600 hours and most of that is printing ASA without a drama.
Regulates chamber temperature fairly well with all the little gaps such as the door and cable routing hole at the top front.

    • The P1S and the X1C are effectively almost the same. The X1C gives you a nicer case, nicer camera, lidar, hardened extruder gear and a better screen.
You can add a hardened extruder gear and nozzle to the P1S and print the same materials. You can use your phone as the interface. You can tune the flow manually using the slicer wizard if you need to (I haven't).

Are the extra features on the X1C worth the $700? Personally I'd say no way.

  • FYI, looks like they will refund the price difference to store credit if you ordered after 20/5/2024. There is an online form for it, but not working for me directly so have lodged a ticket.

    • +1

      Last paragraph in the OP

    • +1

Also not working for me. Bought last week too, 29/05.

      • Perhaps it's because it's not actually delivered yet… Seems to be what the ticket response I got indicates.

  • I've wanted to dip my toe in this, my research suggests the A1 mini is one of the better starter printers. Is that correct? Should I buy anything else at the same time?

    • +1

      buy it at same time

Nozzle kit maybe for the 0.2 and hardened 0.4 - there is the .6 as well but I haven’t really needed it yet

Also depends what you print and if you are willing to learn to slice properly and possibly post process. Many maker world makes don’t have a1 mini profile so you need to slice it yourself. A1 mini I feel is more quiet, takes up less space and is super capable.

Or be like me and get both a models lol

      • Almost all popular models have got a1 mini profiles. I printed a phenomenal amount from the app before I got around to installing the slicer. So while it's a bit annoying sometimes when a profile for a1 mini doesn't exist, it's not something I would worry about or let influence which printer to get.

        • Not having the a1m profiles was 1 reason I got an a1 too lol but yeah just putting it out there.

          • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: I see the convenience of presliced, especially for beginners but at some point they shohld get familiar with slicing

    • +7

The a1 mini at $329 is amazing value as a first printer.

The only problem is if after dipping your feet you are having lots of fun and now you need to consider if you "need" to upgrade from a1 mini without combo to p1s combo (ie my situation).

I would buy the hardened nozzle at the same time, it's only $20 (probably less with sale) and then you don't have to pay for shipping when getting it later. You need it for certain materials like glow in the dark etc.

Other than that, I wouldn't worry about anything else. For filament, sunlu and jayo currently has 10 rolls pay for 6 + 25% discount on top of it (eBay). Fantastic value but stock is extremely low. If you buy a printer, try and grab those during the promotion though. They are basically the same, except Jayo is cheaper but sunlu has more stock. Get a variety of pla+ and silk (shiny) to start with.

    • Recently bought the A1 mini combo with my son and we love it. Wish we'd bought a couple extra nozzles at the same time now tho, like the 0.2mm, to save extra shipping costs. ($8 shipping for a $20 nozzle feels wrong!)

Given the small build plate you'll likely print smaller models and characters therefore a smaller nozzle will give better detail (but take longer to print).

Great first printer, easy to set up and with some models included on the SD card you can be printing straight away!

  • +3

Shipping is $42, don't simply omit from the post, it's not nothing

  • +3

If budget allows and you don’t need to print asa tpu, 749 a1 combo would be my recommended entry point if you’re looking for a beginner/ something to grow into - I have both a1 mini and a1. Happy to answer any questions

    • Should be able to do TPU on the A1?

      • +2

Meant to say abs and asa sorry

        • +1

Now I need to add A1 combo for multicolour.. just the poop…

          • +1

@impoze: u can kinda minimize it by the way you orient the model..but yeah..man some prints its very excessive lol
got to the point where i bought some arcylic paint sets and just do prints in white or marble and will try to learn to paint nicely

  • +2

    lol what..
*Prices listed do not include taxes.
    Nor does it include shipping.
Doesn’t that make it almost the same price as the regular Amazon price literally all the time?…

    • Not sure what that's about, but it should include taxes. You can also see that the "before" prices are the normal prices including tax.

  • How are people feeling about the ams lite in humid Queensland? Did you set up some sort of enclosure or do you pack the filament away after every print? Or do you just leave it all out without worrying about it?

Considering upgrading to either a1 combo or p1s combo. I don't need the extra capabilities of the p1s, but I like the convenience of the enclosed ams.

    • Seems fine for me so far, prob worse up north like cairns.

    • +1

No issues with my PLA+ sitting in my cupboard in Brisbane during peak humidity. They still print great.
Only my PETG is a bit moist but still prints pretty good, just a tiny bit "bubbly".

    • +1

      Depends what you print.
I don't have a bambu, but my PLA is kept out with no issues. PETG, TPU, ABS, etc will not do well left out for too long in Queensland.

      • So you leave the filament out completely uncovered (not in a bag or box) in Queensland? How much are you printing, ie is it fine simply because you power through the filament quickly or do you have rolls laying around for ages between prints?

        • PLA, yes. It just sits on my rack in my office. No major issues. Occasionally I'll have a print that's a bit extra stringy and I'll shove it in my dryer for a few hours, but very rare.
Wouldn't say I'm a power user of coloured PLA. I still have some of my Kingroon PLA that was literally the first batch of filament I ever bought from 14 months ago (probably been open about 5 months or so now months.
PETG I keep in containers with desiccant, as I've experienced some becoming unprintable with just 1 day of sitting out on a rainy day. But that was left in a garage next to an open back door. So not particularly well protected from humidity.

          • @NigelTufnel: Get a cheap food dehydrator for wet filament, but as @NigelTufnel said, it's mainly for PETG, TPU and other materials.

PLA is fine, just store in a tub with dessicant.

            • +1

@impoze: Storing in a tub with desiccant is great, but it means I'd have to unload the filament and pack it away after printing. If I were to get the ams lite, then I'd like to just leave it on the ams instead of unloading it. Which is when the humidity comes into play.

              • @fruxo: only 4 colours at at time though, so you're going to have to store the others

    • +2

The P1S and enclosed AMS is great, but it's also a $550 difference 🤔

    • In humid Queensland I have noticed issues with wet filament. Mostly TPU and PETG but even PLA has given me visible defects when it has absorbed moisture from the environment. Easy to fix though, just bake in an oven for a few hours. I'd wouldn't recommend leaving filament exposed on the AMS lite - I'd pack it away in a box with desiccant when I'm not using it.

If you want to leave the filament in place for a long period I'd look at the regular AMS together with the P1S

  • -2

Have these gone up recently?? Those prices seem awfully high for a sale. The P1S Combo was under $1100 on sale earlier this year.

    • +1

Was that the Amazon pricen error?

    • +1

You might be referring to the pricing error. Other than that, it's never been that price.

  • +1

Aurgh still no discount on AMS

  • +2

made over 10k with my a1 in the past 3 months. fking love this stuff

    • Nice. Through Etsy?

      • +2

That or they've found a way to 3D print cash.

        • sometimes feels that way haha

      • +4

started with ebay and etsy did most my sales on ebay, but realised i was sending all the traffic there anyway so started my own website and now only pay a 1.3% transaction fee. honestly only did about $600 in sales on etsy last month.

        • +1

@bob98 Great work. I've printed quite a few parts for a track car and motorbike and some people have shown interest. Just finding the time now to setup the store and get the transactions happening. The printer is brilliant and the repeatability is what makes it so worth the investment.

          • +2

@sobriety22: Brilliant to hear man, all i can say is dont delay it. i do all my stuff from social media but if your out at track days and people are taking interest get some business cards and a website made up asap. i use square space as it seemed the easiest for me but i also have to use ship station now to take care of my labels. ive been told shopify does it all in 1. but square you can have a payment processor in person to tap cards and do up invoices.

            • @bob98: You can do in-person payments and invoices with Shopify too.

            • @bob98: @bob98 - Please share your website! I'm a mechanical engineer and have been designing things in 3D for 20 years, and only just bought myself a simple FDM printer. I haven't yet tried making money from 3D printing yet, but perhaps the time is right!

    • +1

i wish i was successful like you :')

      • +1

        you'll get there :)

    • How do you efficiently handle shipping? If you don't mind me asking

      • shipstation. was hoping for a cheaper solution but its not looking promising and Shipstation is quite a powerful tool.

  • Damn @impoze, you got me thinking again! Haha.

    • Have both 😅
The V3 SE for $187 is still a super deal and printing takes time so sometimes you want to have more prints happening at the same time.

Might add an A1 combo for multicolour 🤔

      • Yeah I definitely want multi colour now that I’ve had a chance playing around with the V3 SE. Thinking if I should just pull the pin on the P1S Combo although the tech on the A1 is newer which is my dilemma. Buy once, cry once.

        • A1 Combo is very capable, just need P1S for harder filaments - ASA, ABS etc but that also brings more considerations like ventilation etc.

  • Rapid + TCT is happening on June 25-27 so we may see the neww flagship announced then.

The sale goes until July 5, so you can always wait until then before ordering if you're considering X1C

    https://www.rapid3devent.com/

    • +1

Oh shit, I thought it was like a 1 day sale, but it looks like the sale is for a full month? From what I can tell, that includes the printers but let me know if I'm reading it wrong. That kind of changes everything. No need to rush into a decision.

      • Yep, we have time.

I'm sure we'll also see the other brands kick up their sales a notch to counter this sale.

  • +3

Killing me! Ordered $240 worth of spares in Sunday night so I wouldn't forget my gift card from the A1 heatbed debacle! Now 35% off for 3 or more spare part items! Killing me!

    • +2

im holding onto mine for as long as possible in hope they bring out a bigger printer haha

      • +1

They've mentioned a few times that new flagship is definitely coming 2024.

Rapid+TCT on June 25-27 so we may see an announcement then.

      • It expires in 8 weeks! That's why I used it!

  • +1

Had my heart set on the P1S combo for a while now, but that A1 combo price is tempting…

    • 100% in the same boat

      • That makes the 3 of us

    • get the a1 its an amazing printer to start with. if you go to the amazon price error thread from earlier in the year youll see a lot of us were in the same boat for a few weeks figuring out what to do.

    • +3

      Does your budget allow?

If so just go p1s no regrets

I have a1 and no urge to upgrade

    • For anyone else that might find this useful: Just did a bit of research, and looks like you can’t go wrong either way, but ultimately (imo) the A1 combo is the go. Both are great printers (easy to use, great print quality, fast), with the main advantage of the P1S being that it would be better suited for ABS prints. Cameras on both kinda suck, with the P1S sucking slightly less. A1 has the LCD touch display, vs the button navigated dot matrix display of the P1S. Otherwise, it seems to come down to aesthetics, with the P1S arguably looking much neater, thanks to the enclosure and the AMS being able to sit on top. Considering the price difference, the A1 is the winner for me.

      • +4

Main pro for me is that the p1s takes a lot less space as the moving plate on a1 means that it used a significantly bigger area. For me in particular, it makes it hard to semi-enclose it so that the kids can watch it print without me having to worry. I built a big IKEA unit with a glass door for the a1 mini, but I don't think the a1 will fit.

The p1s on the other hand doesn't move so takes up less desk space, plus it's already enclosed.

Another big benefit is the enclosed ams.

The a1 is definitely the better value, but the p1s is still definitely an option if you are not too concerned about spending a bit extra.

        • was it a LACK enclosure?

    • Found this post by a reddit user when trawling through reddit reviews

“Depends on what you value in a printer. Personally, I returned my P1S+AMS and kept my A1+AMS. They are both great printers but ultimately, the I decided I did not need the enclosure of the P1S as I don't plan on printing ABS or other materials that require an enclosure. I fell in love with the A1 because of the faster nozzle swaps, easier maintenance, auto flow rate and touch screen. These features were far more important to me than what the P1 series offered.”

  • Wait, they're going to start selling Translucent PETG refills? If so, they'll cost less than half what a spool cost 3 months ago.

    • +1

siddaments petg translucents are awesome and cheap.

      • Oh I know, I have some - Bambu has softer, lighter colours though.

    • Looks like the refill is only for the colorless translucent. I know it was too good to be true.
