Cheers buy2much for original ebay post Original Coupon Deal

How much filament is too much filament? Im not sure, but so far I think the answer is not 32 rolls.
Not as good as usual 20% - but I think still a decent deal.

Still chasing a good (and affordable) lead for dark green pla for inner side of a Charizard's wings so if anyone knows let me know.

    no dark green from Siddament?

    • i think silk green woulda been the closest but its out..
i guess i may settle on the dark army green ..or maybe paint it by hand.

  • shame it's not the usual 20/25% codes

  • Anyone done filament rack? have so many rolls from all the recent deals and need to figure out a better storage solution.

    • +2

I just been chucking them in ip67 50l storage creates from Bunnings.

      • I've been using the 18L ones cause they fit in the cupboard. Generally 5 rolls to a tub

        • i just stacked mine in a little tower in the corner of my office.
excel table i keep in dropbox to track what goes in what goes out in case i need to make a quick impulse buy when restocking lol

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: What are you guys primting that uses so much?

One of the reasons ive put off buying a printer is i dont know what to print

Also can you reccommend a cheap starter printer that doesnt need too many mods lol

            • @furythree: What's your printer budget.

have a browse at Makerworld or Printables

Everything from practical prints to toys

            • +1

              @furythree: I recommend checking out r/functionalprint

95% of what I print is replacement parts that I either can't buy or would be unreasonably expensive to buy. Or if I need something to fit in X spot that needs to be exactly X size or hold X weirdly shaped thing. For me it's a tool, I'm not really in it for the whole model printing thing.

You don't know what to print now, but once you have a 3D printer as a hammer, everything looks like a nail

              • +2

                @AngryAlfred:

                everything looks like a nail

me walking around the house pointing out to my misso all the things i could fix with my new 3d printers , that previously no one (especially me) gave a fork about .

              • @AngryAlfred: I was considering that. I have a few pc case parts and mods id love to print but not worth the cost of buying a whole ass printer sadly

Does ozbargain have a 3d printing service run by community for adhoc prints. Just charge time materials and shipping

                • @furythree: Check your local library. Mine has printers that are free to use.

            • @furythree: what @impoze said.

im prob gonna cop some negs, but bambu a1 mini is a great starting point. you missed the huge sale though.

              • +2

@Jimothy Wongingtons: sale price hasn't ended. Many think it's a permanent price reduction.

Recently, I've been doing a lot of electronics, so being able to custom build enclosures is really handy. (WLED, ESP32, ESPHome etc)

                • @impoze: oh damn lol i clicked the link and it must have defaulted to a1 mini w/ the ams lite.

yeah just checked amazon, the price is 367.20 after discount too. wild.
i'd definitely recommend it for that price!

                  • @Jimothy Wongingtons: Could you link the a1

                    Heard good things about bambu

For 370 I'm willing to give it a go

Also what's a good average price for filament outside of adhoc deals to keep an eye out for

                    • +1

                      @furythree: there is a1 mini and a1.

                      a1 mini (no ams lite) - https://au.store.bambulab.com/products/a1-mini , from $329 + shipping + card fees

                      a1 (no ams lite) - https://au.store.bambulab.com/products/a1? from $499 + shipping + card fees

                      average price filament

I think sub $20, but at sub $20 better be some fancy filament or include next day delivery (eg creality pla via amazon)

                      • @Jimothy Wongingtons: @furythree
Siddament is $17.99 for regular PLA with a wider range of colours, and main colours usually kept in stock.

Not free shipping but he is experimenting with some different offers that can knock down shipping costs.

                      • @Jimothy Wongingtons: what is the 367 deal?

                        • @furythree: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0CRYJBKQQ?

Click 20% code and go to cart to see 367 for a1 mini no ams

                          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: wow thats epic deal

any reason not to add the AMS? can you just print your own ams system?

any major disadvantage getting the mini over the regular?

                            • @furythree: Add ams lite if you got the money

I regret not getting second ams lite tbh

                              I have a1 mini and a1, and a cr6se that I don’t like talking about

A1 mini is much smaller but is quieter

                          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: looks like direct from bambu is about $20-25 cheaper

                            • @furythree: Yes assuming you have a card with no international fees

                              • @Jimothy Wongingtons: my hand is hovering over the buy button. this additional AMS decision is making it difficult lol

also if i got the mini, what would i be losing out by not getting the A1?
i know its smaller, but you could always do bigger prints in parts or lay them on the side right

the price for the A1 is starting to head into the prusa entry level range

                                • @furythree: Like 80% of the stuff I do I can, and do use my mini

If you will slice your own files it doesn’t matter

If you will be using maker world, I swear like 80% of the files doesn’t have an a1 mini profile

                                  • @Jimothy Wongingtons: wait you need specific profiles for your printer? that sux

is it difficult to slice your own files?

                                    • @furythree: every printer has different capabilities & settings

You will still want to pick up the ability to slice your own files and adjust settings at some point

It's just another level of convenience to click print with existing profiles that someone else has tested.

                                    • @furythree: No it’s relatively easy in most of the usual cases.

But sometimes why go and slice a file when there’s already a really refined , free and tested design that you can send to the printer via app ?

                                • @furythree: Breaking into parts takes more time and assembly

What Prusa is around A1 AMS price?

Even if you dont do too many multicolour prints, the convenience of automatically swapping filaments/colours is a huge QoL factor.

                    • @furythree: if you can stretch the budget, just go for the AMS combos

                      • @impoze: for the same price as AMS systems, any reason not to just get the p1s

then 3d print ur own ams lol

                        • @furythree: P1S is $899 and $1299 for the AMS combo.

You can't print an AMS. It is fully enclosed though which some may prefer over the A1, whether it's to print ASA, ABS etc or just want a smaller footprint system.

                      • @impoze: dayum its like $300 extra for the AMS

what do you do without one? manually switch the filament right

                        so $300 QOL accessory?

                        • @furythree: QoL yes, a lot of the times I want to print another colour but it means doing the whole process to heat up, unload and reload.

Today, I did a 2 colour name tag and manually had to pause and switch it out.

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Excel tables to track 3D printing supplies is exactly my kind of people haha

          • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: I'm using Spoolman to keep track of inventory.

It integrates with Klipper/Octoprint so monitor how much is being used etc

    • Anyone done filament rack?

I'm pretty sure I used this print to convert a kallax into storage - can fit 10 in each cube/shelf. Only hiccup is when you use the filament clips that come with the spools as they can sometimes come off when moving against the next spool.

      https://makerworld.com/en/models/233902?from=search#profileI…

      • interesting, I do have a cube shelf ready so may look at that.

        • I just picked up 13mm or 12.5mm wooden dowels from Bunnings from memory (printed one and took it along). There are a few models with 8mm wooden dowels which I tried but I felt they were bending in the middle from the weight and this version is more sturdy compared to them

    Thanks purchased PLA+ 10 rolls for $130

  • Anyone used this brand? Does it print alright?

    • +3

No issues so far, silk gold was a bit funny in my ams lite, but reddit chatter suggests same issue with even with Bambu silk gold. I put up with it though because it’s bloody gorgeous once printed.

here is a print sample I printed gold silk jayo

      • Oh nice, looks good to me. I'm just running an ender 3 so I don't think I'm going to have to worry about AMS issues haha. Thank you

    • +1

I have smashed through about 47/50kgs (just standard black), though I have had some weird jams every 4ish rolls or so in my X1C and Ender 3s out of nowhere.

      It's okay for prototyping.

      • Interesting, I think I can deal with that. I'm just running an ender 3 with sprite hot end and not really printing anything critical anyway. Just random crap basically lol.

    • Yep, no issues printing this. The silk white prints beautifully.

  • +2

Lesssgooo. Thanks Jim! I'm new to the 3d printing community btw. Nice to meet you all.

  • Anyone else getting $10 shipping for the Orange only?

    • I get it for any 1 of the items I've added - if I remove the one with $10 it shifts to another. Seems it's $10 shipping per order/per 10?

      • thats weird..whats your order like? i will replicate in my cart - my petg x 10 order atm shows no shipping.

        • 2 x white, blue and red, 3x orange, 1x black petg

Any mix gets me postage, maybe its just my postcode? Have ebay plus

          • @Stevo: Just noticed - add the coupon at checkout, end price $130 (for 10x black PETG as a test) so the coupon discount cancels the shipping cost (but still has $10 shipping).

Edit1: No, the deal was from $120 shippied… so I guess that doesn't answer it haha.

Edit2: Change to another delivery address and shipping became free.

          • @Stevo: did i read that right as

            2 x white
            1 blue 1 red
            3 orange
            1 black petg

            ?

            thats only 8 roll?

            • @Jimothy Wongingtons: Sorry typed it weird

              2x white, 2xblue,2xred, 3x orange, 1x black

              • @Stevo: weird i replicated this, all in pla, with 1 roll petg in the colours you said and am getting free postage,

                and AU $168.84 (before discount)

(could also be an ebay plus thing actually for the free delivery..)

  • My girlfriend is going to throttle me for seeing this 😅

    • +1

tobias! did you buy more discounted jayo ebay filament?!!

      tobias: IT WAS AN EMERGANCYYYY!!!!

  • Is PLA and PETG very similar if printing things that doesn't really require strength? Thanks Team!

    • +1

PETG is more heat & UV resistant

    • +1

pla i find kinda printed better for fine detail stuff like articulated prints.

  • Is this filament actually any good though? I've had terrible luck with cheap filament. Size is never consistent and always seems to somehow arrive in the packaging at 100% humidity.

    • i think its great. if it wasnt i (and others) wouldn't post about it.

      • I can't find much about it online would you be so kind as to direct me to these positive reviews?

Is Meta their version of pla+?

I'd be all over this if the colour selection was wider.

        • +1

you can either just search 'jayo' here and look up all the past deals and comments
or just hit up reddit: here is literally the 1st thread that popped up:

          https://www.reddit.com/r/ender3/comments/18gdhse/is_jayo_pla…

its a widely distributed product, and the cheaper sub brand to sunlu.

I'd be all over this if the colour selection was wider.

Check in with siddament if you want some more exotic choices.

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: Thanks for that. It's like there's an affordable PLA shortage ATM. Every where I look everything is sold out. People must've smashed these places for the EOFY.

  • Looking for honest reviews for this filament compared to others like 3Dfillies, CC3D, Siddament, creality etc

    • no issues with it, also have Siddament and similar quality

    • i've tried siddament and creality.

creality i only ever tried their pla white and black. but i would say the jayo is as good if not better.

siddament - it isnt THAT much more - and get some real exotic choices in colours. added bonus, you can hop on his discord channel and ask more questions / troubleshoot etc.

    • No issues. Prints as good as any I've tried.

    • Ive printed at least 800kgs of cheap filament and have over 20k hours between 4x bambus. Other than custom colours from specific brands, my advise is - STOP focusing on the brand of filament, find the cheapest and enjoy printing!

This is a decent price but there are other places online that you can score 10kgs of pla/petg for <$100

      • Link to these 10kg deals?

  • +1

I have tried 5 out of my 20 rolls and no complaints so far with this.

  • Does anyone who's followed filament longer have an idea roughly how often this sort of priced filament deals come about?
E.g. if I don't think I need more/this much filament yet, should I buy anyway or wait for another deal?

    • +1

      Last deal was 3rd June
      Source: I posted it

    • probably monthly, ties in with the eBay codes.

      Previous one was 20/25% though

  • My total is $123.86 with eBay plus code. How to get it to $118.02?

    • 118.02 is for 10 rolls of petg in black after ebay plus code sorry*

      • Gotcha. Cheers, I need colors in my life.😬

    • also depends on what rolls/material you got since the price varies.

  • +2

there stuff prints great. hardly have to dry it either.

  • $128 shipped for me for 10 black

    • pla? petg?

      • petg. is anyone else been charged $10 shipping?

        • you might have same problem as @Stevo above

my cart 10 rolls petg black had no shipping..unsure if its an ebay plus thing or just postcode related.
