Kind of piggy backing off Impoze's post
Amazon are doing the reduced prices already.

Yes it is slightly cheaper to get it direct from bambu assuming you have a international transaction fee free card and do not need additional parts like nozzles.
Yes you saw the p1s cheaper earlier this year. Yes it was a price error.

I recommend getting it from amazon purely for the backup in case of dramas with the printer - Amazon is also bound by ACL law unlike (afaik) Bambu. In many cases the shipping will be quicker (eg A1 and A1 mini's showing next day delivery and p1s 2 day delivery). *

(As per comments below, Im now not actually sure how this would play out as technically the printer is supplied by Bambu, NOT sold by Amazon, just shipped by them)

For my 28 degrees price protection homies, I am not sure if they will honor the bambu website pricing. I've already got my claims approved by price protecting my amazon purchases against amazon pricing today.

The url in the OP which goes to Bambu's range in the shop for some reason omits the A1.
Here is the link for the A1 if required

Prices in title are WITHOUT AMS lite/ AMS. Yes I recommend AMS, especially for beginners.

remember to stock up on cheap jayo filament here Unfortunately stock is bare bone af right now.

it is sold by Bambu not Amazon, so I'd assume the warranty is still handled by Bambu

    • +1

hm thats a good point on the technicality. ive only ever had to claim warranty on low value items, and all of them were within 30 days.
      amazon just refunded me.

At the very least I think amazon still need to step in in event seller is not helping?

Better than being straight up ghosted by bambu support.
(I guess you could always pay by paypal via bambu maybe…)

      • +5

PS: there's 2 Bambu Lab stores at Amazon AU

        • hmm looks like the printer listings i just checked are the 1st one

wonder if i should hop on live chat and see if i can get a straight answer out of CS (highly unlikely…)

          • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: The "Technology' has more range of Bambu Products. The 'AU' store only as the P1P listed.

      • i added an extra line in my op to reflect

      • +4

Amazon is also bound by ACL law unlike (afaik) Bambu

Whoever sold the product in Australia to the consumer is responsible. In Amazon's case, this would be Bambu.

        https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/buying-products-and-servic…
As a consumer using these platforms you have consumer guarantees rights against the seller you buy from on the platform. For example, when you buy a product on eBay, the product comes from the seller, not from eBay. So, your consumer guarantees rights apply to the seller you buy from, not the platform itself.

The question now is are you buying from an overseas business, or a local distributor? If the sale was to a local business, then they are responsible for ACL / warranty

        https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/problem-with-a-product-or-…
Businesses must not tell consumers to take the problem to the manufacturer or importer.

        Applies to "grey imports" also:

        https://www.accc.gov.au/business/selling-products-and-servic…
When a consumer buys a parallel import, they have all their usual rights. The seller must offer a repair, replacement or refund if these rights are not met.

Even when you've purchased from an entirely overseas entity, you are still covered by ACL. The issue is getting the overseas entity to abide by it, since they are not based in Australia and thus cannot be forced to comply with Australian law/s.

        https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/buying-products-and-servic…
When an online business is based overseas and provides goods or services directly to consumers in Australia, the business must follow the Australian Consumer Law. This includes rules on the consumer guarantees.

If you have a valid claim, it would be fair to expect assistance from Amazon AU, although again this can be limited/difficult…

If you make a purchase through a platform and the online seller doesn’t resolve a problem, the platform may be able to help, depending on the situation. You should contact the platform to check their policies in these situations.

        • Nice detective work mate. Now idk what to think haha. At the very least had a painless price protect filed for both my printers . I guess people interested can make their own decisions now more facts are put out. (Eg many of us still have discounted Amazon cards over the years stocked up)

Though I guess at least there is at least some chance of getting help via Amazon in the first 30 days at least. (File an item not as described return or not up to expectations)

      • +1

Amazon have a 30 day change of mind policy on these printers, so if you have a warranty issue and want a refund instead of repair/replace within 30 days you could just do it via that. Bambu only have 14 day change of mind, so another benefit in going with Amazon.

    • +2

Technically yes, but Amazon will handle the return for you (and with free shipping). They will even do a straight refund usually for purchase price, within that first 12 months. And often afterwards if you throw around the words ACL etc. Truly as evil as they are, the returns are just so easy with Amazon and that's why i'm a return customer (and it's literally my preferred retailer for anything).

I'd -easily- pay a $50 premium to buy through Amazon. The difference between sold by Amazon and shipped by Amazon is that they're much more likely to simply 'write off' an item if it's sold by Amazon and not even care about the return. If it's sold by a seller, they typically do expect the return to be done.

      • +2

The difference isn’t even that bad once you factor in the freight (Bambu listed price on website does not include freight), before we even start to discuss possible international fees if don’t have a suitable no fee card.

You can request a refund under the A-to-z Guarantee if the following conditions apply:

      • You ordered from a Third-Party Seller
      • AND you have waited no longer than 90 days from the maximum estimated delivery date
      • AND at least one of the conditions listed below apply:

      Eligibility Conditions:

      1. You haven't received your package
Three days have passed since the maximum estimated delivery date OR the tracking shows a delivery confirmation, whichever is sooner.
AND you have already contacted the Third-Party Seller more than 48 hours ago but they did not respond or resolve the issue to your satisfaction.

      2. The item you received is damaged, defective, materially different, or you changed your mind and you have requested a return more than 48 hours ago and the seller hasn't authorised your return request.

      3. You returned an item in line with the applicable return policy, but you haven't received the expected refund.

    You shhhh your mouth Jimothy!

    • dont worry you dont need to decide today, i believe the sale goes for a month (cant remember where i saw this though)

      • +2

Bambu 2nd Anniversary sale goes until July 5 as listed on their site

    • ok

  • JW do you have the A1 or the A1mini? I worry the A1 mini plate is too small compared to the V3-KE for similar price point.

    • +3

      i have both my brother

yes it is small..but capable (as long as you dont mind slicing large models and assembling and finishing (sanding, plastic welding, etc ) - the latest updates to bambu slicer make it quite easy though - i did a decent sized medieval inspired batman helmet in 5 sections and it came out quite nice. I just need to find time to weld it altogether with glue and solder tip. To be fair unless you had like a 300 x 300 plate you would have had to slice it up anyway.

this is my first go at putting it together, i ended up splitting it back up with a stanley knife and will reseat it, weld, sand and paint it during the holiday season

      • I want to do Board Game inserts but they tend to be on the larger size.

        • humm maybe qidi-x-max-3?

the bed on that is still only 325 x 325… i am thinking you may need to post process.

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: just checked out the board game inserts, they look cool. Another to add to my list of things to print for our board games.

You can also use dovetails and other joining methods to split up components and reconnect them.

            • @impoze: i only found out the other day bambu can add in slots (Circular or square) etc and holes to suit so it kinda 'clicks' together when you glue or weld. pretty neat.

            • @impoze: Whats your overall experience with splitting bigger prints in Bambu/orca and then supergluing them together. Is it a pain or is it a relatively easy process with some square guiding dowels ect?

          • +1

            @Jimothy Wongingtons: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6181896

That is first game I want to print. pretty modular so maybe smaller is okay.

            • @Nalar: Yeah looks like it would just be a heap of prints. Looks heaps nice and probably a huge upgrade over the stock holders haha

              • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Nemesis isn't too bad, it's just flavor of the month, now Mansions of Madness…..my word it is trash.

                • @Nalar:

                  Mansions of Madness…

Played it once, longest 84 years of my life

                  • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: The custom scenarios help, which tend to have more stuff to do in them, but yeah, the vanilla games can stretch.

      • +1

        helmet looks sweet

        • +2

it looks way cooler in real life and when you put it on its like oh hell yeahhhhhhh (this was in jayo marble) but i think i wanna coat it in shiny chrome paint instead.

Bambu is having a 2nd anniversay sale in the next day or so. Hold off

    • +2

Already referenced in first paragraph of the deal post

      • +2

And to think I purposely put it in the first sentence too WITH a hyperlink 🤣

  • Here is a link to the deal
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/849258

    • It's the same sale. Just in different platforms

      • Depends on whether identical pricing, I'll find out at 8pm AEST.

  • Grabbed the Ender 3 V3 KE off of yesterday's deal. Any reason someone would consider the Bambu models mentioned over the KE?

    • Big if.

      First 3d printer?

    • Considerations:
      - Need multicolour (Get Bambu & AMS)
      - Price/Budget
      - First printer
      - Convenience
      - Technical skill

      • I have the first Creality Ender 3. I dont do a lot of printing because of a lot of problems with the set up and the prints "failing" half way through. Has put me off doing a lot of printing.

At this stage I am just looking to print some basic models, cases for electronics, and a few other fairly simple things. As I'm playing more with it - going for lower price point that will allow me to print enough cool stuff to see if it evolves into a hobby!

        Dont care about multi-colour rn.

        • +1

If budget allows I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the a1 mini.

        • +3

The current Ender-3 are miles apart from the originals.

I'm getting great prints from the SE

  • SB Amazon GCs come in $100 denominations and are 1.75%; are there better GC deals out there?

    • Redeemyourgiftcard

Gives you a 3.07% discount on Amazon giftcards (max $2000 per giftcard), BUT they have a flat $1 processing fee per giftcard and IF you pay with credit card then there is a 1% credit card processing fee on the discounted total.

      E.g.[Paying with Credit Card] $1000 gift card -> you pay $969.34 + $1 + $9.70 = $980.04

      E.g.[Paying with Direct Debit / PayID] $1000 gift card -> you pay $969.34 + $1 = $970.34

      • So if you're buying the P1S you can save up to ~$30 this way.

      • This sounds crazy, but how do I sign up for an account? I can't see any sign up link?

  • +2

    Nice thought.

From a waranty perspective you should be okay either with Amazon or Bambu directly. Although Bambu is not enforcably bound by ACL, they appear to honour the concept.

    From Bambu's waranty page

    Warranty in other regions:
For consumers, who are covered by consumer protection laws or regulations in their country of purchase or, if different from our stated warranty period, the benefits conferred by Bambu Lab's Limited Warranty are in addition to all rights and remedies conveyed by such consumer protection laws and regulations, including but not limited to the rights described above.

To make it clearer: If your country has a consumer law that says that customers need to benefit from a 24-month warranty period for a product, we will abide by the local rules and we will provide the extended warranty period.

That seems pretty fair, and on balance I'd probably prefer to order through Bambu rather than Amazon. Makes it easier to buy some extra spares.

(edit: moved to a new comment, rather than reply)

  • Really on the fence about this.
I only 3d print for personal reasons and friends, with the odd thing here and there sold. I've got a Prusa MK3s and an Ender 3 v2.
The reason I have two is the dialed in Ender 3 v2 just does beautiful prints, perfect lines, the only short side is the speed (currently at 75mm/s print, 800mm/s acceleration).
The Prusa is fast and very accurate, but just not pretty. I have visual artifacts all over the sides and without looking into new steppers / bearings or even the 3.5 upgrade (which is not much cheaper than the A1 Combo) it's just not worth it.

Perhaps the Bambu is best of both worlds? Using the slicer and comparing side to side speeds it's hardly a contest, the Bambu is usually double the speed of the Prusa.

    • If you’re just on the fence just leave it lol especially if you’ve got your Ender 3 dialed in and happy with prints. Many can’t even get close to that and up giving up (ask me how I know)

      • I think the forums don't help. Early days I had some elephants foot on the first 3 / 4 layers that made functional prints useless, which is why I purchased the Prusa.
People on reddit / other forums just kept saying Z layer height blah blah blah.
Turned out my x gantry was not level (not a single suggestion said that), and some binding was squishing the layers.
Since then, apart from better plates and a Spider Hotend (and some custom firmware to increase the usable bed size) the printer has been gold.

The AMS lite is what has me interested, I am tempted by Prusa MMU3, however the cost of that is equal to the whole A1, and I still have my visual artifact issues…. I really mostly do pretty multi colour prints on the Ender with layer filament change, and it's very time consuming.
Perhaps I will just end up with a 3rd printer for the AMS.

        • +1

Perhaps I will just end up with a 3rd printer for the AMS.

Well idk how many is too many 3d printers for a casual user but afaik it’s not 3 (speaking from personal experience)

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: Love the enabling.
Feel free to dm any fun multi-colour STL's. At the moment I am printing Catan.

            • @thedean: I am all about enabling in my non-shit post replies on ozbargain.

As for stl that can only be done with ams, not so much fun but I just did one of these last night on the a1 mini, used jayo marble and red. Turned out ACE.

              https://makerworld.com/models/197240

I also have this bart raven from the raven halloween mini story from Simpsons pre sliced and saved to sd card - the way I sliced it it’s a 24 hour print so kinda had it in the to-do pile. I also expect a crazy mountain of poop (filament waste) lol. Will look sick on my ikea billy arrangement in my study though. - I guess technically you could also print this in say, all white and paint. It looks fairly straight forward to keep lines clean.

              • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Why not do the bart raven in parts so you don't have the mountain of poop? It's split in coloured parts on the cults3d page so you can print each bit separately.

          • +1

            @Jimothy Wongingtons: I now have SIX :-P

            Resin
            Anycubic Photon Mono
Anycubic Photon Mono-X (to be sold soon)
Elegoo Saturn Ultra 4 (arrived a couple of days ago)

            and Filament
            Kingroon P1S
            Ender 3 Pro
Wanhao D9 (in pieces awaiting upgrades that'll never come)

I use the resin ones regularly, haven't done much filament printing of late

            • @bleugh: I’ll prob never get into resin tbh - too much chance of disaster - if not my own clumsiness, my two kids prob will get to it.

        • I've had my anycubic mega S for a few years and picked up the Ender V3 SE. Set them both up on klipper and realised how untuned my anycubic was.

One thing that can't be completely improved though is speed and AMS which is why I'm also in the same boat, considering to add the A1 AMS.

With a lot of prints, they still take hours and some are multipart so having multiple printers will just reduce the wait times.

          • @impoze: I was tempted to go down the Klipper route with the Ender 3v2. I've been compiling my own firmware and runninng the latest marlin (although there is an ABL bug in it I had to fix), but when it's working I really shouldn't mess with it, the quality is just so good. I have linear advance set up so I suppose I could test higher speeds.

Are you still seeing high quality with klipper? Or has the speed come at the cost of a little quality?

            • @thedean: I'm enjoying Klipper a lot.
              - easier tuning for test prints, pressure advance/flow, etc
              - more plugins & development of new features - Adaptive mesh & purge (KAMP), Spoolman, Crowsnest (Cameras), Obico (spaghetti detection)
              - wireless interface & integration with Orca (& other slicers)
              - multiple instances of Klipper to one box. (I'm running it on a SFF with linux)

You can always flash back your marlin software, but the Ender 3v2 has been out for a long time so many printer.cfg files available and issues ironed out.

              • @impoze: Thanks! If I end up getting the A1 I might go down the route of Klipper on the Ender so I can afford some downtime.
Any good links for information to learn about it?

                • +1

@thedean: plenty of guides, and it's quite simple really using KIAUH

You'll find many guides in the r/ender3v2 subreddit.

I followed this one. Most of it will be the same, just look up the settings to compile the firmware for your printer. There's already an example printer.cfg config file or you can look up the tweaked versions in the subreddit - https://github.com/Klipper3d/klipper/blob/master/config/prin…

Once you have klipper running, get orca slicer linked up and look at the other plugins you can use.

  • Current Delivery ETA Thursday, 13 June

    • Wow
Must have exhausted the stock in Amazon warehouse maybe. I ordered mine the day it was listed on Amazon a few weeks ago now, it was shipped from a 3pl to Amazon then Amazon to me lol

      • I ordered on the same day as you, in the morning. It shows to me the item should arrive by end of Friday. But it hasn’t been shipped yet. I started to regret purchasing in amazon, and paid extra $20 for this.

        • +1

You ordered 24 may? Contact customer service and chase it up. I got a $10 credit issued without any fuss for the delay.

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: My apologies, I thought you ordered when the sale started. No, I order this Wednesday, and expecting it delivers today. However, I am not seeing this happening.

            • @brooksong: What’s the expected delivery date on the order?

If it’s late contact , might get a $10 or so credit anyway

              Which kit did you get?

              • @Jimothy Wongingtons: The original estimation is this Friday. Now it is still showing “arriving today by 9pm”. I ordered a P1S combo.

                • @brooksong: Might still get there, ages to go till 9. Hoping for the best mate.

                  • @Jimothy Wongingtons: Thanks mate.

                    • @brooksong: Got it yet?

                      • @Jimothy Wongingtons: Nope, it was shipped later in the afternoon and the estimation changed to next Monday. I contact amazon, they gave 15 credit and said I can refuse the delivery without any shipping cost. Guess I will refuse it and stay on my preorder of creality k2 plus, which comes with 50% discount.

                        • @brooksong: I checked yesterdays 2nd sale attempt on the K2 and they went real quick.

I think I'm going to hold off on the A1 and just make the jump to CoreXY for my next printer.

                        • @brooksong: True. Let me know if you succeed in getting one at half price. I saw a post on reddit today claiming as soon as it hit the time, the website claimed all of todays allocations were gone (some speculation it’s all bs)

                          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: I’m pretty sure I got one in the 1st event. I got the card transaction, an order confirmation email, a congratulations email for the first 200 buyers and also an update that they are giving a roll of filament as the bonus. Actually I tried to contact the creality support to cancel the order (as I got an order for p1s), but they try to ask me to keep it. The order should be cancelled if my p1s delivered today, but it didn’t. So I think maybe give creality a try.

                            • @brooksong: K2 Plus ships in September, so hopefully a nice deal for Black Friday whether it's Bambu or Creality

                              • @impoze: Yeah, creality did say it “may” come slightly earlier. But this late shipment does give more space to keep watching the upcoming new releases and deals.

  • Very keen on the P1S with AMS. Getting a bit confused - it is better to order from Amazon or order from Bambu labs itself?

    • It's really up to you. It's 20 bucks more expensive in amazon, normally it means faster delivery and better after-sale support. However, my order didn't go well and the delivery was postponed. I think you can still count in the support sale.

      • Thanks bro. If we put the difference of $20 aside any cons ordering from bambu labs itself?

        • +1

I am not sure. I guess most people choose to buy from amazon is just trying to get an extra layer of "protection". So, if you want to feel safer, just in case there will be any hassle when the product goes wrong, and also don't mind paying extra $20. I would say order from Amazon.

        • +1

Con of ordering from amazon is not getting the accessories and spare parts.

But you could order those separately.

        • +1

Current Delivery date on Amazon is now Thursday, 13 June

Potentially still a shorter wait than direct.

          • @superdoedoe: Thats so short! I ordered mine on Wednesday (Amazon) and the expected delivery is on the 25th of June - I am in WA but that seems like a long time!

  • There is a report on the other Bambu direct post that the Amazon version may potentially be shipping with errors. Has anyone received their amazon printer and experienced similar?

  • +1

This one. Did a quick google and it seems to be a fairly common, sporadic issue. There's talk of an arduous process of dismantling bits to get to carbon rods, somewhat obscure and unhelpful Bambu troubleshooting process, youtube videos, heaps of adjustments and tinkering and errors going away only to come back on an different axis…

Doesn't instill me with confidence and not something I want to be dealing with when looking at paying a premium for a Bambu printer that is meant to work right out of the box. If these errors are only on the amazon printers then it may be a different hardware revision/batch and might be worth buying direct if those ones are more up to date with the latest components/adjustments.

    • +1

All I can say is I had no dramas with my a1 and a1 mini lmao both from Amazon.

The ease of service and access was another thing that appealed to me compared to p and x series

  • +2

So I finally decided to buy the P1S Combo from Amazon (instead of direct), and I just saw CR sending an email saying I've got a $67.08 cashback! If it goes through then this Amazon deal definitely trumps the direct deal. 😎

    • +1

Oh damn living the dream is it’s honored

    • Nice, what cashback category and % does it fall under?

      • Not sure tbh, although knowing my luck with CR, it will probably be declined in the weeks to come… 🥲
