      That's every TV.

Hisense and TCL offer 3 Years…

        • +1

Hisense and TCL are Tier 2 manufacturers who make quality TVs, and need a point of difference to sell units over Tier 1 manufacturers who only offer 1.

Blaupunkt is a badge engineering label for generic Chinese electronics.

Why would they give the same warranty? Regardless, you'll get more via ACL if you push the issue with JB.

        • Also found out my Hitachi had 3 years about 2.5 years after purchase when it's backlight blew out during normal use.

Made my goddamn day when I found that out online, entirely by coincidence, while trying to diagnose the cause of the problem and ideally fix myself. Turns out they couldn't fix it and I got a full refund, so basically copped a 75 inch tele for 2.5 years for free.

Point being, more companies offer extended warranty than you'd assume.

    WebOS 🤮

      Probably this TV’s best feature..

      • +4

Probably not actually. The processor will be so utterly garbage using the built in OS is pointless. You'd go chromecast on this TV.

        • Actually you are probably correct!

I thought this was why they were happy, bc it's infinitely lighter than trying to run full fat android.

Can we just go back to normal (profanity) TVs that do nothing until you plug something into it, turn on instantly with no loading, and don't badger me with what it thinks I want to watch on netflix despite not using the service in a year? I'd love that.

        • Plenty of Linux OS's run on a Pi. From there, lots of options.

Lol 1yr warranty wat a joke. Can probably argue under ACL for 3 years of warranty at least

    • LG, Sony, etc all have 1 year warranty: https://www.lg.com/au/support/warranty

      • And it’s dead easy to get a 3 year statutory warranty repair on these name brands (LG, Sony etc) but might be a harder argument for such a cheap brand and price as the Blaupunkt.

1.3k TV parties agreed expected life is 8 years.

I think a $600 TV should reasonably be expected to last 3?

        • It doesnt matter what you think. It matters what ACL thinks and the manufacturer thinks. They are what determines if you get compensated or not. I had a $3000 Samsung tv that only lasted 4 years, I said thats not enough, Samsung said they dont care and ACL did nothing, so I got nothing. They know you're not going to make a court case out of it.

          • @skysurfer: Would be interesting what small claims court thinks of something like that.

          • @skysurfer: You should have.

The second my family did, they decided it was easier to replace it. Didnt even need to actually GO TO court, just once we had the ombudsman report, and a date, they 'settled' out of court.

            That was a Sony.

          • @skysurfer: You enact ACL rights through the retailer you bought the item from, not the manufacturer.

Unless you bought it from Samsung direct?

Based on my own experience with a Sony TV that was 3 years old, I got nowhere with them. They tried to repair it and it didn't fix it, then told me no more parts, nothing they can do other than 50% off a new TV of my choice (which was based off RRP so not much better price than stores who were running sales). I then went to Good Guys and presented my case and they fought Sony for me. Took a few more weeks but I got a brand new TV from a higher range, delivered from Good Guys, not Sony themselves.

      • ACL overrides the manufacturers express warranty.

    • What do you expect for $600?

    WebOS, bonus!

Don't waste your money on too cheap TV

  • Thoughts on this as a rumpus room TV for the kids?

  • Looks like a good deal. If I get one I'd just be using it as a screen in a shop with video fed in through HDMI, not using any of the features. Can anyone think of any reason why this would be no good for this purpose?

I purchased one 1.5 years ago and build quality and colour was horrible so returned it.

  • I have no intention of buying this TV as i already have a TV, but I would be very intersted in how the LG WebOS performs. If anyone has purchased one before please comment. I would be even more interested in a comparison between someone who has a basic LG TV and the Blaupunckt.
