It's good for a basic entry-level soundbar. Definitely not a conversation starter
I’ve been sparked to have a conversation about it
Pretty cheap spark
@abs898: Make sure it’s plugged in properly
This one time at audiophile camp…
@PainToad: Yeah ?
@life is suffering: I had a really treble time.

Worse than the Yamaha YAS 108?
I've been meaning to 'upgrade' but doesn't seem like sound bars have gotten considerably better at the budget price point.
I want to know the above too
Soundbars generally aren't.
Doesn't have HDMI connectivity if that matters to you.
So that means no ARC?
Correct
Reviews aren't too great: https://www.rtings.com/soundbar/reviews/bose/solo-soundbar-s…
Probably better off spending another $50 (maybe less if it's cheaper somewhere other than JBHIFI and getting something like this instead): https://www.rtings.com/soundbar/reviews/hisense/hs2100
I've added my review in another comment. I've never had a Soundbar to compare but I'm happy with the purchase
Id grab this instantly if it had atmos and apple play support.
doesnt even have hdmi
Not at this price.
What would ATMOS achieve on a 2 speaker soundbar?
One more sale
Same as TV speakers that have it. A logo on the box.
Shame that Dolby has sold out their brand. It used to mean something when tech was labeled ‘Dolby Surround’ or ‘Dolby Digital’.
I’ve seen Atmos logos on cheapo tablets these days.
Hmmm, might work for PC speaker
Wouldnt those edified bookshelf ones be better?
Indeed split speakers are better audio experience although in my personal circumstances, I have next to no real estate either side of my monitor so a small speaker that can go under my monitor will work nicely. Less cluster on my desk.
coincidentally In the same position. I don't even have the real estate for the soundbar. I've resorted to my shokz and bose 45s. my old logitechs are just sitting in the corner….
Yeah I'm sure it's not the best but the Amazon reviews are good and I have a limited-height space for which I'm looking for a sound bar with front facing drivers only. Cheers OP
Can I connect to an amp for centre speaker?
It's an active speaker.
Negative, unless for some weird reason you have an amp with centre pre-outs and you want to rig this up that way
I have the original version that's used for the bedroom TV and it's plenty clear sounding and loud and offers way more bass than the tv speakers - so for my use case it's excellent.
Any opinions on using this to replace computer speakers?
See page 38 of the manual where they suggest how to connect the speaker to a tv headphone socket. Would work the same. https://assets.bose.com/content/dam/Bose_DAM/Web/consumer_el…
Thanks mate
My computer speakers are Bose CineMate GS Series II with subwoofer. You can find these pre-owned; there's one on Gumtree (Burwood) listed at $220
I bought it for use on my computer and connected via optical (supplied in the box) and it sounds great. Clear sound but lacking punch which is to be expected from this size soundbar and no sub!
Bose making cheap stuff now.
Everything else is so expensive now that this seems cheap.
No ARC, does that mean I cannot control the volume via the TV remote?
Correct, unless your TV allows you to control the optical/audio out RCA volume (which is incredibly unlikely) or you want to use an analogue headphone/3.5mm to RCA cable
Thanks, what about the bluetooth connection? does it allow you to control the volume via tv?
For the same spend you can get a refurb Yamaha SR-B20A with HDMI ARC. The SR-C20A is $143 but doesn't include a subwoofer out.
Unsure - but I'd imagine depends on the TV again
This or the Edifier MR4 deal for PC speakers? I have an optical port
Without HDMI ARC - can I still control this soundbar with a universal remote like a Logitech Harmony?
Yeah, you'd have to change the device though, or run an activity
Thanks. So in an existing activity like “watch tv”, I can just add the soundbar which will then control the volume by the universal remote? I just want to avoid having to use the small Bose remote all together.
The Bose lacks HDMI, subwoofer-out and reviews suggest it sounds underwhelming.
, I can just add the soundbar which will then control the volume by the universal remote?
Yep, it’s part of the Harmony setup to say which device controls the volume.
I bought this deal with the $35 EZYMount VSB-100 Universal Soundbar Bracket to attach it to the bottom of my TV which is on a swivel wall mount.
Tested it yesterday and it is much better than the built in bauhn TV speakers.
I have a pc connected to the TV via hdmi and the Bose connected to the TV via the optical connection.
I use an air mouse for mouse and keyboard and use it's volume control for the pc which adjusts the volume for the Bose Soundbar. (I actually turned the volume on the Soundbar down because it was too loud.
The TV volume via it's remote is set to 0.
I didn't shop around so I'm not sure if there's comparable Soundbars to this but so far I'm very happy.
I got one yesterday for my PC and frankly I think the soundlink mini sounds even better than this. The lack of bass is very obvious.
Doesn't seem to be at this price anymore?
Any good?
