      I wish, it's a great idea
      I am a customer I bought 25kg Beef 1/8 cow for a BBQ a few weeks ago

      • How was the quality?

        • +7

          Not baaaad.

        • +49

          silence jv

          • +63

@WowBargain: Lol. I didn’t even know that JV commented until I saw your reply to them.

I found out you can block particular users, and won’t see their comments anymore. You can do this in your account settings. So I’ve blocked JV and don’t waste my time reading their irritating comments. For a while, JV spoiled ozbargain for me until I found out I could block them. Hope this tip helps some people.

              • +27

@whyisave: their and them can be applied to anyone. it's not too complicated.

                • -3

@dv1den: except "their" is a possessive pronoun. It means something belonging to them.
They both can be applied to anyone, but not in the same circumstance.
Some folks can find it complcated.

            • +2

@heartychat: Hi, thank you for your tip however it's actually a forum rule that noone is allowed to block JV.
If you could please got ahead and unblock him and we will forget any of this happened.

            • +5

@heartychat: Good idea. I've done that too.

            • +6

@heartychat: Thanks, have now blocked lol

            • +7

@heartychat: This is great. There's a few commenters on here that spam a lot or post nonsense. Some of the anti-vax posts or similar are great for finding others to block.

            • +8

@heartychat: You gotta respect the guy. @jv full time job is trying to be funny ON OZB, 99% it’s just irritating. Hope he does better IRL.

              • +4

                @sauce2k: I thought it's been firmly established that @jv is a 52-year old housewife?

              • @sauce2k: Definitely wouldn't be a day ending in Y without the vast majority of jv's posts getting negged into obvilion would it? Still, like you said, gotta give credit where it's due, keeps coming back for more when everyone else would have taken the hint long ago, which I guess shows… something?

                • -4

@BoundedRationality: Not sure why you think it's ok to openly bully people and call them names. JV is just another anonymous poster on a bargain site and it's a bit strange that you are so affected by the way they conduct themselves when it shouldn't bother you whatsoever.

                  • +1

@WhatWouldBiggieDo: lol I think you need to re-read what I wrote friend. I didn't call anyone a name, nor would I consider that bullying given it's simply an observation of a generally accepted and quite obvious trend.

As for how jv behaves, if you do choose to re-read the post, you'll see I actually gave them credit. As for being affected by it? Not in the slightest, other than to have a bit of a laugh whenever I see the double digit negative numbers and see they just keep digging. I'm not the one faning the flames of blocking here; jv can continue to post their inane rubbish here as much as they like (at this point surely they are just trolling though, no one could not take the hint they are genuinely not as witty as they think by now given the consistency of the negative reaction to them from the community over a long period of time). To each their own :)

                • +1

@BoundedRationality: Yeah, it shows something and it's not good.

              • @sauce2k: Pretty sure jv is a bot.

            • +3

@heartychat: this is amazing - thank you

            • +4

              @heartychat: seriously?!??!?!

His comments are beyond useless, I haven't seen a meaningful contribution to any thread from him. I'm convinced that he just posts on every thread/comment to get his post count up and doesn't have anything better to do.

Blocking him now. Bye bye jv.

            • +3

@heartychat: Except it still shows up as "comment hidden", so you know it's probably JV who has made some wry or smartarse remark, crouching behind the hidden text, living rent free forever inside your head…

            • @heartychat: Another thanks for the tip.

I like that your comment is also +62 votes atm as well.

        • +3

What a bunch of soft cocks, so offended by comments they simply cannot bear to even read them. Worse that Reddit this lot.

          • +2

@Ham Dragon: Careful, you'll offend the 'two spirt goat selfs'

            • +2

@nizzkid: Not just any goat selfs, halal goat selfs. Please be mindful of the difference to avoid setting off they/their triggers.

  • +77

Even better deal if you cook it on a free council BBQ.

    • -1

      Those were the days!

      • +1

what have i missed, are councils getting rid of them?

        • +2

Loads of them still near us, haven’t used one since I was a student though

        • +9

@kiitos: Can't believe that was 6 years ago!

          • @kiitos: Can't believe that post is 6 years old???

I remember reading it, time flys.

ETA, just realised post above said the exact same thing

      • +1

Wasn't that post only a couple of months ago?

        • +1

          It is timeless.

    • +1

I have some near me but we wont have nice things for long if people can't look after themselves…

    • Free electric bbq. Hope you have all day.

Imagine if we valued a 75kg human at $900 delivered

    • +20

      That's Soylent Green.

      • +1

well i mean if you got prime kidney or liver or heart its probably over 9,000

        • +9

          Over 9000!

        • Even $90 worth of hen eggs would be better value than a human.

      • +4

About time somebody posted a deal, really.

    • +10

Who invited Hannibal lecter here to the chat..

      • +5

Don't look at me, I only brought the fava beans.

    • +2

Last time I read, the treasury valued each Australian at 4.2 million. Maybe cheaper in a developing country

      • +3

Health Economics values 1 quality adjusted life year at around $50,000, so 4.2 million would be the value of 84 years, roughly the lifespan of an Australian

      • +8

That's for a human as a working slave not as a food substitute.

    • +2

what about a 175kg human, would they be worth $2025?

      • +9

        More because better quality marbling.

    • A bit expensive, but I'd happily eat them

    • I had the same thought when I saw this post!

    • That would be wonderful. Normally you need to pay to get rid of them.

    • +1

Human is super gamey. Let's be reasonable, it would need to be at least as cheap as the goat meat.

    • +2

In my experience most humans aren't worth that much.

    • +2

I reckon I'd be worth more than that with my abundant marbling.

    • +2

If israelis and Palestinians valued each other at $900ea, they’d have a ceasefire by now.

      • +2

Do you deliver goat to WA?

    • I'd like to know this too.

    • +1

      Not yet but it's coming!

  • +8

also the 'free pickup' is Hill End

which is about 75km out from Bathurst!

there's some pics of what you get for $300 beef:

    https://halfacow.farm/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Ullamulla-E…

    is that ok???

    • +5

Honestly speaking those steaks don't look terribly tender with the lack of intramuscular fat

      • too lean??

its hard for me to say… i've have coleworth stuff that looked like that

i've also had $69 a kilo stuff that looked sort of like that

      • That's what prevents me from buying meat like this, it just looks like colesworth meat that is super lean and tough. Need some fat in the meat itself, not around it.

      • +1

This is probably not the most effective way to buy prime steak. You'd be buying this if you were looking to do a lot of roasting/slow cooking.

  • +3

Lamb is usually $199 on farmers to fridge.

    • Lamb prices have gone back up a bit now :)

  • +4

Tried this, it isn't that great.

    • +14

      Reason?

    • +2

Hi Talos, what was your experience? Please email [email protected] if you'd rather keep it private. We have over 100 farms on our platform so maybe we can find a solution.

  • +9

If you're selling bulk packs of meat wouldn't it be more realistic to call it "farmer to freezer"?

    • +3

Yes, we were called "Half A Cow" and I changed it to "Farmer to Fridge" I didn't think we could get away with another name change.

You can also order down to a 5kg pack now.

  • +6

    Whole Goat $150

    Surely you are Kidding… 😲

    • +1

I ordered it for a pick up. I’ll update on what I receive. Told me 4-6 weeks

      • +2

        Told me 4-6 weeks

        That's a bit too young.

        • That’s time for delivery! Not the age of a goat lol

  • 1/8 cow, holy cow…

    • +3

      Don’t have a cow man

    • +1

      holy cow…
