Easy drinking as it is a soft and smooth coffee that is light it is on the palate. At its best as a drip coffee, it also makes for a delightful single-origin espresso with a pleasant chocolatey nuance and a great crema.

    So $54 / kg ?

It's a sample pack (packs), you can't honestly compare it to a 1KG bag, be fair?
The shipping alone is circa $10 for Aus Post My Business account (we have one so it's easy to estimate, depending on location).

        I bought this as a sampler. 1kg = $24

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/851550

        Shipping was $5 for 1kg.

        So $29/kg

        • -2

Australia Post My Business does not charge $5 for 1KG (not even close), the seller is absorbing most of the cost lol
Set up a My Business account and take a look at the rates!
That's like thinking "free shipping" is actually free to the seller, it couldn't be further from the truth, it's simply built into the sell price, and in some cases it's a loss to gain interest in your product.

@SimAus007: My comment was that for a sampler, the price seemed high, given other sample deals.
I never made any comment regarding the shipping cost not being worn by the seller. However feel free to downvote me all you like.

There have been previous deals such as the $49.95 for 3x 500g bags.
            Or the current one (https://coffeeconservatory.com.au/collections/coffee/blends/… ) which is 3 x 250g for $35 shipped.

@Tiggrrrrr: You do know coffee beans are like wine, right? That's like me saying, I can get a 1KG bag of beans at Coles for $12 (which you can), but another brand wants to charge me $50 a bag for the same size.
Usually (not always), there is no comparison.

@SimAus007: "You do know coffee beans are like coffee"
No. I thought they were like cheese. My mistake.

That aside, did I say anything about Coles? Or did I list examples from other "specialty" roasters?

                • @Tiggrrrrr: It's an example, I didn't say you said anything about Coles.
Penfolds charges 1 to 2k + for some bottles of wine, other "speciality" (upmarket labels) charge much less for a drop that many would still consider just as great.

@SimAus007: In fairness there are sub $40/kg (often <$35) coffee deals posted reasonably frequently which are very well received.

                • @Ham Dragon: Agreed, no argument there.
I like the Aldi Brazil or Colombia blend, but I also pay much more occasionally for more premium brands to try something different.
                  Each to their own.

AIRJO SUMATRA BLEND is only $32/kg with shipping. Wouldn't mind try this if they're more competitive in price.

      • Apparently I was under the mistaken impression that the point of a sampler was to entice new users.
        Apparently it isn't.

BTW you can get 3x 500g from ARJO and pay only for 2. So potential sample pack for ~$39/kg including shipping.

        • TBH, under this economy, unit price is what's out of pocket, and that's matter.
