Too bad they stop selling Find X series anymore in Au, after Find X5 Pro onwards..

    • +4

I was so keen on the X7 Pro Ultra but I've gone back to Samsung after using Oppo for about 6 years.

      • +1

Yea me too battery life was abysmal on find x series

        • My X5 pro battery was shocking after about a year of use and it also started overheating/slowing down for no reason. Reset it a couple of times but no change.

    • +7

I think the new find X will have a global release and I think there was a patent issue which recently got resolved.

I'm really liking my find x3 pro except for the curved screen and enjoyed the reno 10x.

  • +3

Why are they using MediaTek processors and not Snapdragon? It's a no from me.

    • +11

have a bit research, snapdragon has dropped the balls recently while mediatek picked up quite a bit. it's no more no brainer snapdragon ages.

      • +5

I agree with you @HD9990. These days, Snapdragon processors are overhyped, and their quality has noticeably declined. Despite releasing numerous high-end smartphone chipsets, Snapdragon's budget and mid-range offerings remain questionable. In reality, there isn't a single impressive budget chipset from Snapdragon that delivers strong performance in mid-range. On the other hand, Mediatek chipsets have seen significant improvements over time and are now present in smartphones across all segments. Therefore, it’s fair to say that Mediatek has surpassed Snapdragon in terms of quality and performance.

    • +3

I am fine with MTK, but not 7300, that's like downclocked 8100 from year 2020.

  • -7

Mediatek dimensity for $700+ phone?? No thanks.

    • +4

That's like saying "Snapdragon for $700+ No thanks". For example not all Snapdragon phones are the same some are low end Snapdragon for cheap and some are high end Snapdragon which is more expensive. Same goes for Mediatek Dimensity chipset phones there is a bunch of different low end and high end Mediatek Dimensity chipset phones. The OPPO Reno 12 5G comes with the Mediatek Demensity 7300 Energy chipset which is a better 4nm chipset. Which is the reason why this phone costs this much.

      • +3

The 7300 is not even as fast as SD 8 Gen 1. This is not a bargain, there is no discount here. At this $799 bundled price point, the phone and the pad are exactly where the combined RRP should be based on the specs on offer.

        • +4

Where can you get a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 phone for around $800 at an Australian retailer?.

          • +2

@hollykryten: With a free tablet or watch?

          • @hollykryten: Exactly!

              • @mrvaluepack: Nice find… But given the choice of these two devices which would you choose? Personally I'd go the Oppo for the lack of crease in the screen, gorilla glass on the main screen, more battery + RAM, and serious camera bump. But I could see others going for the flipper.

                • -2

@nitens: Did you read my post? The bundle IS the RRP. Because the phone is at most worth only $500 and the tablet is at most $300. So you are paying full price for both products.

                  • @mrvaluepack:

the tablet is at most $300

I will buy it from you for $301.

                  • @mrvaluepack: Cool your boots man… I read your post, and the only Snap 8 Gen1 performance you offered close to this price was the Razr 40, without a tablet. If you can find a Snap 8 gen 1 performing phone for $500 from a local retailer can you please make a listing!

The Razr 50 is going to use this exact chipset (with the X for the additional screen support) and I bet it won't be starting at anything near this price.

I'm not saying that this is an outstanding deal, but if you wanted a midrange phone and could use a tablet this really aint that bad. I really hate saying $800 is the midrange pricepoint, but that's about where we are.

PS - I'll repeat the simple question posted above, which would you spend 799 on, the moto Razr 40 Ultra or the Oppo Reno 12?

          • @hollykryten: Are you that lazy that you can't be bothered googling? Here you go:

            https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/motorola-razr-40-ultra-5g…

          • @hollykryten: Motorola Edge 30 Pro was around $450 on sale, last year

    • Pixel 8 Pro is just over $1k at the google store atm if you need a new premium phone

  • OPPO Reno 12 5G vs Motorola Edge 50 Fusion (which is much cheaper)?

    • Oppo Pad Neo is worth about $400.

      • -2

Pad Neo is a tablet not a smartphone.

        • You will get it for free if you buy a OPPO Reno 12 5G smart phone.

          • +1

@jimojr: I will argue with that wording. I will get a tablet that I do not need for $250 (that is the difference between the Oppo and Motorola phones currently).

  • +1

mid range android for $1000 isn’t great. I’d go pixel 8 pro, currently similar priced, over this

    • +1

Worth for the non pro with bonus tablet (bigger size!). So $799 with the tablet bonus is okay in my opinion. Not the pro version with bonus smartwatch (not worth it and maybe less accurate). For smartwatch accuracy comparison, watch Youtube: the quantified scientist channel

    • Where is the 8 Pro that is the same price as this?

  • +6

can purchase from JB HiFi for the same deal

    • +1

Remember $10 welcome coupon by joining JB Hi-fi Perks. Can use different email and different phone number. This is another reason where free sim card (through cashback) is useful.

  • Just beware, Oppo don't honour their "Free bonus" items, I purchased a x5 pro last time with free tablet, never arrived, and when queried, fell on deaf ears.

    • +3

I had no issues with mine, bought my Find X5 Pro from JB, and claimed it straight away, arrived within a week.

    • +4

Sucks that was your experience. The tablet was OOS when I got my x5pro and they offered me credit.

I declined and said I'd wait til it came back in. 1 month later they rang and confirmed some details and sent the tablet out.

    • +1

I received $500 credit, used it on another offer they had. And sold the phone gotten with the credit for $600. It was a crazy deal.

  • +1

Back in the days when it first started, Chinese mobile phones for $100

  • Office works is $2 cheaper

    • Beat with $10 welcome coupon by joining JB Hi-fi Perks :P

I won't buy this phone as my current phone is still good enough for me.

    • Yeah and i guess you could price match that at JB too.

  • Will this work with the $50 discount coupon for a 3g device trade in at jbhifi?

    • Well it's a sale isn't it so it should be ok.

I found the T&C for the bonus free Pad Neo or Watch X just states purchases from a participating retailer. JB should be on the list. But you could ask JB just to make sure that they're one of the participating retailers.

  • Is the Watch X LTE version?

    • No.

  • Why no OPPO fold in Australia?

  • +2

Poco X6 pro with superior Mediatek dimensity 8300 can be had for $420 delivered from AliExpress. They want double the price for the inferior product in Australia? What do they take us for? If I wanted to buy Chinese phone I will directly order it from China with much lesser price. No, thank you.

    • You won't get Australian warranty with that though. And what about compatibility with Australian mobile carriers. Will VoLTE work with all mobile carriers?.

      • Poco X6 pro was one of the alternatives that I thought, my point was, there are too many options for almost half the price, I would be surprised if this phone sold even 1000 pieces. It's hard to convince Australians to use android let alone chinese brand on top of that with that ridiculous pricing. Poco X6 pro is directly sold here as wellcl for around $540. I don't think Australian retailers would have sold it if there was chance of getting blocked.

        • I don't think any Australian retailer sell Xiaomi smartphones. And those small online store sellers which do sell it i wouldn't call a retailer. Retailers are the likes of JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks etc.

And just because a small online store sells the phone sourced as a grey import direct from China doesn't mean that it's officially supported on all Australian mobile carriers. Carriers generally don't test smartphones on their network that haven't been sourced into Australia through official distribution chains. The same smartphones which you generally find sold at major Australian retailers. And Xiaomi currently isn't a brand of smartphones which is one of them. So you do run a risk of having a smartphone which is unsupported by carriers.

  • Thanks OP. Tempted to go through with the base model + ipad. How would this fare against a refurbished Samsung S22/S23 Ultra?

    • S23 ultra has Snapdragon 8 gen 2, there is no comparison. To put into perspective Oppo Reno 12 is INR 32k in India whereas S23 Ultra is INR 100k.

  • Logan, Amazon, my deal are selling it. Aren't they considered Australian retailers.

    • Is this about Poco X6 Pro. Through the Amazon Australia store well seller Amazon AU (which is actuallly Amazon Australia itself) is not selling it. It's only sold and shipped from overseas Amazon warehouses. It's not currently sold at Australian retailers at all. It would be nice if it was sold through the Australian distribution chain at Australian retailers. But there would always be a local market retail markup.

  • Any idea if the oppo Reno 12 variants comes with e-sim / nano SIM?

What about the Oppo Pad Neo e-sim or nano SIM compatible?

Can't find the Sim information on their website

    • +1

The specs listed here for the standard Reno 12 states that it doesn't support e-sim. As it doesn't list e-sim means no support for it. However it does support physical dual nano SIM.

      https://www.gsmarena.com/oppo_reno12-13133.php

I can't find any evidence that the Reno 12 Pro model supports e-sim either. No e-sim support with that model either.

Oppo Pad Neo only supports physical nano SIM according to specs. No e-sim support.

      https://www.gsmarena.com/oppo_pad_neo-12796.php

      • i have just asked Oppo Live Chat.

the Oppo Pad Neo is a Wifi model.

urgh. that changes how i value this package.

  • Does anyone know if I can get the watch if I buy the phone from ebay store like Mobileciti? There $100 off at the moment on this phone.

    • You should be able to via redemption https://oppopromotions.com.au/

Might be worth checking with Oppo via chat if you can redeem from Mobileciti eBay store specifically.

How can you get $100 off btw?

      • Add $2 item and use the ebay code to get $100 off $1000 with HGTECH

  • bought from oppo directly, phone and pad neo came together :)

    • Any feedback on phone and pad? I'm considering this deal but hesitant to pull the trigger over a pixel (probably 7/7pro)

      • +1

Bought it for my dad who was in need in an upgrade. He seems happy with it though i'm sure he'd be happy with anything considering his old phone was 4 years old. The pad is great, mainly use it to watch vids/read so no gripes from me.

not much of a review sorry ahah

  • I purchased Reno12 from JB a couple of days ago. At claiming on Oppo web, it gave me an error, This IMEI No is not exist or not eligible. Anyone faced the same issue?

    • I purchased from JB too and it worked for me (received my pad today).
In my case, I only entered the first IMEI number on claiming website and it works.
