@AppliancesOnline.com.au can you explain how and why the review system has been manipulated to ensure all products have a >4.5 star rating?

Look into the reviews for any product and most say 'this review was collected as part of a promotion' and/or 'this review is for a different model'.

Bad reviews have clearly also been removed for every product to have such a high average rating.

This is so widespread that reviews are now completely worthless. Very disappointing and I don't understand how it's not illegal.

This washer has collected 9x1 * star reviews and 4x 2* reviews, but those are outnumbered by the 660x 5* reviews.

I can understand why it might seem like every F&P product has such a high average rating at first glance, especially their laundry appliances but I can see many F&P products rated under 4.5 here: (https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/brand/fisher-paykel/?sli…)

In the appliances industry almost all major appliances brands and retailers in Australia use a review platform called BazaarVoice in some capacity, so you'll see syndicated BazaarVoice reviews collected from a promotion run by the manufacturer or a review where the product comes from a similar range (e.g. review of a 9kg version of washer will appear in the reviews for a 8kg version if they are from the same range).

All BazaarVoice reviews go through an automated approval process that removes reviews that feature certain 'stop' words - profanity, mentions of competitors (e.g. HN, The Good Guys etc.) or if the customer is reviewing our Appliances Online customer support or service rather than reviewing the product itself. We don't go in and manually remove a review.

    • So what you're saying is, any manipulation is done by BazaarVoice. Who runs BazaarVoice? What regulation is there?

From a quick look, the products rated below 4.5 generally have very low numbers of reviews. This suggests that these are newer products and the ratings for them haven't yet been manipulated by flooding them with non-genuine/filtered/purchased/irrelevant 5 star reviews.

Do you have examples of products with over 50 or 100 reviews that don't have a rating over 4?

e.g. review of a 9kg version of washer will appear in the reviews for a 8kg version if they are from the same range

Why? If I'm looking at an 8kg washer I only want to see reviews for that model. Surely it's quite possible that an 8kg and 12kg washer from the same range perform differently?

    • @AppliancesOnline.com.au some good feedback here indicating that BazaarVoice are routinely finding reasons to reject genuine negative reviews. As a paid service, it makes sense that they ensure they provide what the manufacturers and retailers want.

I couldn't see anything on their website to suggest that there is any oversight of their processes to collect and assess reviews. I suggest any retailers interested in providing objective feedback to their customers should stop using BaazarVoice and find an alternative review source. I will continue to ignore all of their manipulated ratings.

Bought this model 2 years ago and still going great. Fast, quiet and good wash performance. Only issue is the end of cycle beep/chime is too soft and not long enough (first world problem).

Hi all. Is there any model that spins 1400rpm and not too expensive? My Bosch 10 years ago already spins 1400rpm but recently has issue with not spin fast enough/or not drain properly so the clothes are still a bit wet when finished.

  • Just beware that F&P will want around $400 if the main board goes on their washers. Happened to me. Not replacing a $20 component for $400. Bought a new washer for not much more.
Apart from insulting my sensibilities, this is INCREDIBLY environmentally irresponsible.
Pretty much encouraging people to throw otherwise perfectly good components into landfill because of their greed on spare parts.
Might or might not happen to you - just beware is all I'm saying.

    • Any any washing machine brands economically repairable?

  • @AppliancesOnline.com.au - general question not related to this deal, but when do you charge an order - is it once it's shipped? Reason I ask is, I would like to use a cashback offer but it expires in a week and the product im interested in won't ship until late July/early August.

Just a FYI from my experience. I purchased this washer yesterday, scheduled delivery is end of July. The amount was deducted/charged from my credit card instantly.

  • Deal on the 10KG model and im in

  • Put an order at around 18:30. It was delivered by 8:00 next morning! Fantastic!
The machine is much much quieter than my old 10-year old LG.

  • Anyone know how long an "everyday" wash will take and a "quick 30" wash will typically take?

    • Everyday took 1:15 despite indicating 1:05 at the start. Didn't run quick 30 yet.

      • Yeah I saw people on a review area talked about 55-1:05. I guess the one hour mark is a decent length for a longish wash. Might be that the 30 min one is sufficient for most uses. See how you like it

  • Sounds like a good price for the Samsung replacement which has issues with spin cycle, Samsung washer is poor quality
