Deals Direct Click Frenzy BestWay Lay-Z Spa $399 w/Possible Free Shipping (Normally $499+Ship)

20

I've been thinking about one of these for a while just as bit of Summer (& Winter) fun.

DealsDirect were selling them for $499 which was already hundreds & hundreds off the RRP (not that anyone pays RRP these days) and I was very tempted but they have now marked them down to $399 during ClickFrenzy. There's the possibility that you may also get Free Shipping too however you'll need to enter your details to find out because it's location based. I was eligible for Free Shipping from DealsDirect however as this item is very heavy (50kgs) and as I'm in a rural location I had to pay $55.75 but city dwellers may not.

I've only just purchased mine so I can't say much about it however this Spa has lots & lots of rave reviews on the DealsDirect site but I've read other reviews elsewhere and they've been mixed. Most complaints are about the premature death of the heater and/or pump or just the fact that it takes several hours to heat the water but at $399 I'm willing to take the risk as I have other (cheaper) methods in mind for heating the water and should be able to fix up a replacement pump solution if I had to. As long as the inflatable tub part is decent then all good :)

So yeah, jump in before ClickFrenzy ends tonight or before they sell out!

yeah, ozbners can only read numbers. their literacy is restricted to the words "free (including any and all words following free)"

Just to add. For anybody who is eligible for free shipping there will be a $20 surcharge because the item weighs over 20kg's. So shipping is really 20 bucks.

Tempted to buy this, but not sure.

    • Ah, I was wondering what amount the surcharge was on its own so thanks for clarifying that Millzy.

  • Personally, all of these are rubbish. Inlaws buy this sort of junk for niece/nephews.

Gets used for 2 days and then no ones interested. Too much to maintain, add chlorine (even small amounts) and the plastic doesnt agree. It starts to break down and finially breaks/leaks and if your lucky that it doesnt, it collects dust.

The other thing to keep in mind, you cant polish a turd

If it was $30, I would take a chance, worst case try and get some jelly wrestling happening over the summer break. But for $400, or even $200 I would want something with 90% + reviews. To put it another way, would you spend $400+ on a mobile phone or tv with mixed reviews?

    • Reviews on DealsDirect give it 4.6 out of 5 = 92%

mythbusters proved that you can and a shiny one at that. ;)

but why would you need chlorine? since it's intended to be used for a short period of time, i would imagine it would get emptied when 'done'.

Plastics deteriorate under UV, it's not new news.

yeah, the price is not fantastic…. though jelly wrestling would fry the motors anyway. Problem is, I need to convince 20 year old pretty girls to get in there dressed in bikinis first…

      • SlowMo, unfortunately these DO need chlorine and even come with a chemical floater however I'm on tank water and have bucket/tankloads to use so I plan to use this more as a bath without chemicals and just empty it out via an irrigation system after each use (after the water has cooled down of course).

Those who expect to use the same water more than once will definitely need to use chemicals as bodies of water such as this will go septic within days after grotty humans (even Bikini clad pretty 20 year old girls) have been in it. On the plus side the water should last at least a few weeks if cared for properly and tested regularly when using chemicals and even longer if gradually drained & topped up over time too.

        • oooh.. I learn something new everyday!

I've always use the normal tap water to fill these, and empty out at the end of the day (or at the most the mid of next day).. usually I fill it with a bit of salt (I don't run the motors).
I find that it helps a bit with my itchy skin during some times of the seasons. (the salt i mean)

Granted, I don't do this a lot… (the water bills will kill me before the itching does.)

  • Don't know if these have gotten better over the last 2 years, but I went through 3 pumps before I returned it a couple of years ago. They ALL leaked after a period of time, be it a couple of days or a couple of months. Nothing wrong with the plastic and using chlorine - held up fine. I wouldn't want to be emptying 900 litres of water every couple of days without chlorine.

I definitely wouldn't recommend buying one online. Too hard/expensive to return when it fails.

  • At this price it should double as a time machine!
