Reolink Argus 3 Pro w/ Solar US$61.32 (~A$91.94) Delivered / Argus 3 Ultra w/ 6w Solar US$77.53 (~A$116.23) @ Reolink AliExpress

140

Non solar panel versions are even cheaper. Argus 3 pro without solar panel is US $50.52 which is A$75.75 and the Argus 3 Ultra without solar panel is US $66.72 which is AU 100.04

Really good prices. I do recommend going with the solar option though.

To get the right prices. Make sure to set your Aliexpress to ship to Australia but make sure you set the currency to USD. Also try to exchange the currency via revolut or wise to get the closest to the google conversion rate as the normal conversion rate through aliexpress adds more money to it.
Also key tip make sure to use the aliexpress app so you can use the coins too.
Basically a few weeks ago on the previous sale the argus 3 pro with solar was $81 usd but with coupons and ali coins I managed to get it all the way down to $70.43 usd. Though I wish I waited till this sale..

Sorry about the title. Ozb wouldn't let me write the whole title out. But anyway I forgot to mention that the shipping is free.

  • Can someone tell how's the two-way audio and face detection on these?

My Eufy HB3+S330 haven't been mind blowing and audio is compressed to 100% unusable. Great night vision tho.

    • I bought a Reolink (Argus 2) to replace my Eufys. I bought it on the recommendation of OzB peeps in 2022. Quality was significantly worse. App wasn't anything special. Battery life was abominable, like a week (tbf solar made that fine in. summer). Needless to say, I still have the Eufys and the Reolink is in a box somewhere

      • I once saw Reolink app and remembered it looked clean and I thought it's neat.

Fair enough re picture quality. I wish that sound wasn't useless + app could be better too, eg. can't remove multiple recordings at once, need to do that one by one.

Does it ever need additional charging to the solar panel?

      Battery cameras are not great.
I had 5 Argus 2E solar cameras from about 2.5-3yrs ago. One died after about 18 months and another drains quickly that it only works plugged in now. It also has wifi connection issues despite being less than 5m from an access point. Battery cameras suffer from lag and also do not always activate on motion.

I also have two Reolink Lumus cameras. One of them had the LED spotlights die but they are/were pretty good quality.

I also have a Reolink Wifi doorbell which is great. Constant power from a wall plug and excellent quality as well as native Home Assistant integration. 24x7 recording is also excellent.

I have Swann wireless battery cameras and they are bad. Non responsive even when plugged into the wall.

I also have two Imou bullet cameras that I like. Wall powered and 24x7 recording.

        @10101010101

You seem to have a lot more camera experiace then me.
But I've had a argus 2e for a few years now and I just set up my argus 3 pro solar a few days ago and straight off the back I noticed quite a few diffrences.
I've had the argus 2e since mid 2022 and while the battery life is not the best I have not experienced quick drains. My argus 2e on live fluent quality it plays fine but yeah on clear it stutters quite a bit. But the recorded clips do not have these issues.
But on the past few days I have been using my new Argus 3 Pro it's quite a bit better than the 2e. First when I watch clear quality live video it's 99% of the time it's plays smoothly even on the high bitrate settings. And the video quality is much better and you can turn off animal detection. Also my argus 3 pro is quite far away from my router and it's streaming it live fine. And plus I got the solar panel version so it always keeps it charged. While I have only been using it for a few days now the charge is still arround 98-100% thanks to the solar panel.
Though I will admit though even on the 3 pro the motion detection is delayed a few secconds and I still need to configute it so it can detect people on the far away sides of the camera view. But overall though much better and smoother than the 2e. Also forgot to add that the mic on the 3 pro seems better than the 2e. On the 2e when I was speaking from my phone to the person near the camera, the sound would be muffled but on my 3 pro I can speak to people on the other end just fine.
Also the led spotlights are good.

        • Yep I have no doubt the Argus 3 is better but the lag before recording can be a make or break. I had 2 Argus 2E and a Lumus pointing towards a crime across the road and barely got usable footage from the Lumus which is wired but acts like a battery cameras. The battery cameras were useless

if your going for a purely wifi Reolink system.. i think the two options for data storage etc are…

reolink just recently released the Reolink Home Base.. its similar to the Eufy Homebase box..
    1. Reolink Home Hub
Wireless Security Center with Encrypted Local Storage and Multi-Device Management
    64GB microSD Card Included
    Exclusive Anti-Theft Algorithms
Expandable System Up to 8 Reolink Cams
    No Monthly Fees

    or there is…

    1. RLN12W
      12-Channel Wi-Fi 6 NVR Recorder for 24/7 Local Recordings
12 Channels with Max. 16MP Resolution
      5/2.4 GHz Wi-Fi with Wi-Fi 6 Supported
      Pre-installed 2TB HDD
      Without PoE Ports

(you can can find these on the official reolink australia website)

or you can just keep the recordings on a micro sd card in the camera

.. and maybe some other ways i havent thought of

hmm intresting. Thx for this info. I didn't realise reolink has released a hub that works with battery cameras.

I think you can also FTP the files to a NAS. Not quite as good as direct streaming via RTSP etc, but still an option to avoid cloud fees.
