  • M.2 is 2250 not 2280 form factor?

    • +2

From an user review / feedback photo, it looks like there are 2 m.2 slot, the one for SATA does appear to be 2250. There is another m.2 slot (for NVMe I am guessing) that's 2280.

how are they making money at these prices?? the BOM for this would be the same price?

    • +7

They are making money. There are more markups on standard components than we think.

Anyone using a N100 for Batocera ? Im eyeing off this or Pi4 8gb which ive got lying around somewhere.

    • Yes works well up to ps 1 and some ps2 and some Wii

      • I've been upscaling to 1080p mostly for PS2, Wii and Gamecube

  • Does anyone know how it compares to the one on Amazon last time?

Looking at hooking it up with my NAS

    • +1

N100 mini PCs are all pretty much the same.
What do you mean though by hooking it up with my NAS?
I bought an N100 mini PC back in August 2023 and have been using it night to web browse, watch 1440p youtube and download - it handles all of that simultaneously with no issues - but I did remove the 512GB SSD and put in a 1TB - so I had more download space. I queue stuff up, it downloads and then I move files over to my NAS when I want (usually weekends).

      • Thanks for your reply. My plan for the N100 is to offload the docker containers my NAS runs (Plex and arr's). By hook up I just meant mount the NAS as a volume.
Just thinking - what has stopped you from mounting your NAS as a volume so things download directly to the NAS?

        • being miserly :)
The N100 with a 1TB SSD in it uses way less power than the NAS with 6x HDDs spinning.
1TB local storage gives me enough space for a day or two of HEAVY downloads, so I just fire up the NAS - move the files and then queue up something else.
Heck.. even a mini PC downloading files to a local USB drive still uses way less power than most NAS at idle.
EDIT: that being said I have ordered an N series motherboard (N95) with 12x SATA ports to replace my HP N36l microserver

          • @gizmomelb: Haha respect! Earning your Ozb badge. Enjoy setting up your new server, sounds like a great project. 12x hard drives will at least help keep the house warm! :)
I ended up ordering an N100 which should hopefully arrive tomorrow… time to tinker. Fixing up my Portainer stacks now in prep for the migration.

  • Code not working due to not reaching minimum spend, anyone else getting that?

    • +2

The code provided in the original post only works for items over $150 AUD. The correct code for this item would be "24SS08".

  • How would this go as a minimal WFH unit if you're mostly remoting in to another machine? Local tasks would just be stuff like Word and web browsing

    • It's perfectly fine for thin client duties. Even just using it for day-to-day web browsing, the N100 is quite snappy.

Noob question, I want to use Stremio on my Hisense TV, can I simply collect this using HDMI to my TV and then I be able to watch anything from the Stremio?

  • At present, we only provide Eur-standard power cord plugs and US-standard power cord plugs.

Do I need to buy separate power cord?

    • +2

Looking at the photos it has the type of adapter where the plug can be attached. If you happened to have one of those AU plugs elsewhere floating around or could find one. Otherwise you'll have to get another or alternatively a Xiaomi power strip.

  • Looks like it's OOS.

    • the SOYO M2PLUS is in stock and is $173 AUD - same CPU (Intel N100), 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. Personally I think it is better than the M2PLUS2 as it has more USB 3.2 ports.

    can these do PS4 emulation?

    • +1

in that current PS4 emulators can do very little, yes it can run PS4 emulators.

    $459 ??

Goddamnit I missed another good N100 deal again!

    • Same here. I’m researching what is the cheapest. I want to feel like I got a bargain. Anybody could help us? I see a N200 mini pc but it’s $250 shipped (today only). For $100 less I’m happy with a N100 to be honest. I need it for home theatre tv with low power requirements. I could buy a $165 N100 with 8G 256GB (after tax) but it’s not a good deal :(

      • +1

Resolved. I went with a used marketplace Intel NUC8i5 with my own 16G and 512GB upgrades for under $120. It’s faster than N100/N200 but twice more power consumption.

  • +1

i got an awow mini pc with same specs last black Friday for $103usd + 15% tax so almost $120usd as i had amazon usa gift cards to spend i won from a youtrubers contest

its a great and fast box for streaming movies browsing the web ect great for playing indie games and minecraft roblox ect and older games
even some newer titles ran at playable fps running at 1360x768
fortnite ran fine in performance mode low at 1360x768 100% 3D scale

only thing bad i could say about this is it sucks the n100 cant support duel channel ram if it could gaming performance would be better

so its a good box for a kids first gaming pc or a good box to hookup to a tv for streaming

    • +1

greed.. I think Intel nerfed dual channel RAM usage as it would have been too good a performer at the budget end.

  • Received mine today, setting up Proxmox.

    • I’ve got problems with mine. Sometimes it doesn’t boot, screen is just blank. Other times it takes a long time to get to the bootloader. Anyone else with this issue? I tried various BIOS settings already.
