Time to open a Westpac savings account :-)

    • Their savings account it's not that bad at 5% p.a (considering it's a bank with branches)

      • +1

Interesting - lose 0.5% compared to ING, but no need to make 5 pesky spends per month, and no minimum deposit into the account.

        • Balance needs to increase every month. That could be by $1. So that's pretty easy. Also I personally prefer to have a branch option.

      • hmm…

how does the criteria bonus thing work if one month ur less and the next one ur backup ?

I've had a westpac acc for a good while but recently beem put most saving in ubank..

but ubank seems to be changing things to the base interest rate beimg 0% unless u deposit $500 a mth n it goes to 5p.a or 5.5p.a

    • +2

The only issue is that it will make you open a Westpac choice account which charges five dollars a month unless if you fall under any of these.

      This fee is waived for:
Customers that deposit at least $2,000 each month

Customer under the age of 30 or full-time tertiary students

Individuals who hold a Concession or Health Care card, or receive an eligible Australian Government benefit payment

New to Australia or expatriate customers (for the first 12 months).

Customers that open a new Westpac Choice account online between 01/02/24 and 30/09/24 (for the first 12 months).

      • +2

Technically you can avoid the fee by moving $2K from Savings account to Westpac Choice account, and then again back to Savings account.

        • +1

Worked for me when I was too lazy to close my main bank account for over a year lol

        • +1

Does this really work? I’ve been moving between my combank and Westpac account and it is very troublesome

        • this is exactly how i avoid the $5 fee

      • +2

I've automated money in & out between my Westpac and HSBC account to avoid the fee.

  • Targeted

    • +3

What kind of account do you have? If it's a loan account, it won't apply to it.

      • +1

        Westpac Choice, eSaver, and Life

        • +2

Thanks for that. Definitely targeted then. I have reported to mods, to fix.

          • +5

@Scrooge McDeal: I've found the offer by clicking the "Display more" option

            • @YLUO: Cool, that means it's not targeted. Just not available for loan accounts.

              • @Scrooge McDeal: Not available in my app, def seems to be targeted.
Edit nvm, I was not looking hard enough

        • +1

I got the same Westpac Choice account and got this JB offer on the app

        • I only have westpac choice and I have access to JB Hi-Fi Solutions

      • I only have Westpac CC and I have access to the deal

    • +4

I've had a westpac account for several years, this jb access has been around for years in the app.

  • +1

Anyone knows if GC or discount codes can be used in JB Solutions?

    • +2

Just had a look for you. No GC or discount codes. Card or PayPal only. You also have to pay for delivery whereas The Good Guys Commercial has a C&C option.

  • My app says the offer is valid from 15 Feb 2024 until 30 Sep 2024

    • They just keep extending it. Same as the booktopia 10% off offer. They must just negotiate with the vendor for 6 months at a time.

  • +4

It's also free for Origin Energy customers.

    • +2

Yep, as well as The Good Guys Commercial.

    • +1

Came here to say this but I'll just give you an upvote instead 😅

  • +7

I just checked and prices for phones etc are the same as jb’s regular prices.

Is this typical? I haven’t looked at this before.

    • +1

Yep, always cross-check other retailers first.

  • +2

This offer has been there for the last two years when I started banking with Westpac. Also has Samsung Partner store offer as well.

    • Also has Samsung Partner store offer as well.

Yeah it ended 31 May. Was off for a few days, not sure when they re-enabled it. But yeah 30 September this time around. Currently matching the edu 30% off S24 range with 150 bonus trade in.

  • +6

You can also access it via Bank of Melbourne. You can buy an S23 on JB Solutions for $1299 - that's $100 more than Samsung are currently selling the S24!

  • Netgear Orbi® BE27000 Quad-band Mesh WiFi 7 System [3 Pack] is $4299

    JB Business is $3699.

Do I need it, no. Do I want it, yes…

Why does the app say ends 30th Sep 2024. Is this date unique to me? I never enrol it.

    • +4

WTF? Surely that has to be the most expensive mesh router to date.

      • +1

I have the RBR50 wifi 5 since 2017. Solid device and I recall it was the best at the time.

Tempted to get the new faster version but yes, I agree it is very expensive and some service/feature is subscription.

        • +1

I've had the RBR50/RBS50 mesh system for quite a few years, and its been great. It removed all the WiFi black spots around the house. It's never crashed or malfunctioned, haven't had any issues with it yet.

I don't know what features a newer mesh system could provide, besides WiFi 6 speeds?

          • +1

@kraigg: That latest model is wifi 7. $4299 in JB and $3699 in JB Solution.

The older model RBR50 I have is slow LAN transfer. Would love to get faster but even at $3699 is a tough buy.

            • @beefmaster: Thank you for the explanation. Faster transfer speeds are always a good thing, but I also think $3000-$4000 would be hard to justify. The RBR50/RBS50 mesh pack (router and 2 satellites) cost me only about $700 back then.

  • +4

FYI - Always check other retailers because this is by no means the cheapest prices around.

  • +7

It's definitely not the full JB hifi range, more a sub section and the prices vary. Not worth changing banks

    • +2

Yep, same deal with The Good Guys Commercial.

  • Anyone else having trouble accessing "Rewards & Offers" on the Westpac Android App, when I click on it I just get a message saying "No internet connection"…. I've been getting this for a few months now

    • Had the same. Need to turn off ad blocker

      • Thanks for that! I had the problem too whenever I was using wifi but not mobile data (even if AdGuard was enabled).

      • Cheers for that, didn't even think of that

  • +1

I just have a Westpac Choice account. I do not have any offers available, let alone an offer for JB Hi-Fi Commerical.

    • I have the same account and no obvious link, but you can search for 'Rewards' in the search bar and it'll show up.

  • After 3 times of trying to open an account, i was finally successful. First 2 tonight failed

  • +1

    Same price

  • Can't find rewards and offers on profile.

  • +1

signed up to westpac weeks ago rewards tab never worked for me

I've never actually seen a good deal on jb solutions

  • Don’t see any benefit as the prices of the items I’d looked at are identical to street price and JB walk in price

  • Not on my Classic account.

  • Anyone else seeing a technical error when accessing the rewards page?

    • "We are currently experiencing technical errors with the Westpac Rewards and Offers hub and are actively looking to resolve this. Please try again later. • Force stop the app & clear cache if on Android.

  • Not sure how good the discounts are.

    First page.
    Logitech c922 webcam $166

    Umart price $118

  • Works on the Westpac desktop website for me too.

  • +1

man JB's business solution deals are the worst.

  • Can someone help with the price for ASKO T408 heat pump dryer on jb site?
    Thanks.

  • These are good for heavy shoppers and niche items jb can't move. The really popular products like an MX 3s mouse is only a couple dollars difference from my search.
