[Used] Lenovo ThinkCentre M920q Tiny PC Core i5 8500T 16G 256GB NVMe $239.20 ($233.22 eBay Plus) Delivered @ UN Tech eBay

Thought this was a good deal with NVMe SSD so I can have it upgraded with an unused SATA SSD lying around. Trying to replace my Lenovo laptop bought brand new 7+ years ago with this (it is just being used on the desk, switched on 24x7, so don't see any point to have another laptop to replace it).
20/06 received it today well packed with a 90W adaptor. Other than a few minor cosmetic scratches it seems to be in very good condition. Ah and 16GB was 2x8GB so it's not readily expandable if anyone was wondering.

@CoronavirusVaccine: The HP ELITEDESK 800 G4 is not just similar but better(w wifi n bt) than the Lenovo in this deal.

Also, if you are planning to use this as a router, Lenovo is a Chinese company non of us know what's in their BIOS.

            • @skillet: Glad you've found one that suit your needs better.

The Lenovo has two features that are special and are attractive for some specialised use cases. That's why it's more expensive. If you aren't using those features the HP is definitely better just from the lower price.

No comment about Lenovo being a risk for being Chinese. That's up to you.

              • @CoronavirusVaccine: What are Lenovo's two special features not found in the HP?

@Guybrush57: The pcie expansion and the NIC being Intel.
Intel NIC is a must for ESXi - some people will need this. It also enjoys better reputation in terms of reliability.

                  • @CoronavirusVaccine: PCIe expansion. Didn't even check for that. Glad I got the Lenovo. I will have to research what ESXi is before I can form an opinion on that.

@Guybrush57: ESXi support used to be important but since the free edition has been deprecated, it's no longer as important.
On some firewall software all the intel NICs will be supported while the Broadcom/Realtek support may be available later - not a big issue these days if running virtualised firewalls but it is a consideration for some ppl.

  • Hey all, Can this be used as normal PC? I have monitors but usually connect my laptop.

    • Depend how "normal" usage you do. These type of PCs are generally for office oriented - email, data entry, light web browsing etc.

      • Looking basically for emails, browsing and movie downloading thats all

      • Looking basically for emails, browsing and movie downloading thats all

        • Perfectly fine for that.

  • Can it run as a server for testnet?

  • Has anyone else's package been held up by Australia Post in Dandenong since Tuesday?

  • Can someone please suggest me wifi card that works with this ? Sorry there are many and not quite sure which one to buy.
