Great deal as part of their Unboxing Day Sale, was $2,199. Unfortunately, they don't have an end date yet for this (inquired about this specifically with them).

This is part of Boxing Day Sales for 2024

  • Don't forget the $200 cashback from AMEX !!!

    • Can you share the link?

It will show up in your 'offers' section if you are eligible…

i got an offer of $200 off an $800 spend that I can use 2 times, valid until 31-Dec.

I seem to get these Microsoft offers with AMEX 2-3 times per year.

Technically $400 if you purchase $1,600+ Microsoft gift cards in two seperate transactions

      • Good luck trying to do this without Microsoft automatically blocking your card for suspected fraud

      • I have seen few people say it will give you the full $400 if you spend in one transaction over $1600. So no need to do the GC route.

Do these still give you a mild electric shock when plugged into that charger?

It seems to be a 'feature' according to Microsoft.

    • Haha i get this from my lenovo too. It feels really weird.

    • +1

yes it does haha, keeps you on your feet when working ;-)

      Macbook air user, same thing.

Apple extension adapter eliminates the issue

        • is that because it is earthed ?

      • My 2016 MBP and 2022 MBA both have a weird feeling when I run my finger across the chassis while charging

        • why do they not fix this with just using an earthed power supply?

          • @jv: Murica!

            • @jaymzrsa: Captain Murica ?

              • @jv: Only thing I can think of is that a 3 pin is clunkier and a laptop is made for travel so small wins. So if it passes safety standards that is enough.

                • @jaymzrsa:

What if you have a pacemaker?

                  • @jv: I'm no expert, but I am pretty certain although uncomfortable (I hate the feeling, but then I hate the feel of eating an ice cream off a wooden stick), it isn't a health risk, even to those with pace makers.

                    @jv:

What if you have a failing pacemaker?

it might just save your life!

    • yeah, you know it's charging..How many time have you thought you were charging & later found you haven't turned it on?

  • The prices on Surface Pro are much better than Black Friday. Time for claiming on the price promise.

Great job linking to an outdated article. Microsoft have addressed concerns and made it opt in.

      • -3

It was one of the first links I grabbed as source.

That was May, In June they announced it's opt-in

Spoiler Alert: Trump won the US presidential election too in case you haven't caught up with that either.

  • Is it worth spending $200 more for the X elite?

Also, I heard there are some issues running some applications on the Snapdragon chips.

Has anyone come across a list of the apps impacted ?

    • +1

There's a couple websites out like the following that track app compatibility.

      https://windowsonarm.org/

I'm a 'basic' user so I've not run into any problems on that front yet.

Some chatter about the Plus having better battery life than the Elite. I went with the Elite for my recent purchase of the 13.8. No reason in particular…

        Thanks Mr. Moneybags…

Actually I lied. I wanted the larger SSD and I had a JB voucher to use during BF sales.

  • One thing to note, previous versions of the Surface Laptops were compatible with the Surface Pens, but not this one as Microsoft has ditched the digitizer. So if you're looking to upgrade from an earlier Surface Laptops and looking to continue using your Surface Pens, you will need to look at getting the new Copilot Surface Pro instead.

  • What is a good value dock for these?

The microsoft one retails for $500 but can be picked up for around $350… Still too expensive…

    • +3

Dell has a good range of Docks. Use the WD22TB4 with my Laptop Studio 2, but that's a TB dock. USB-C ones are much cheaper

Got the 10 core 13.8 inch 1tb 16gb during BF sales.
great laptop - lightweight, super fast processor, handy AI(co-pilot) and build quality is far more superior than any other windows laptops.

    • Have you found compatibility issues with any apps?

      • Yes any app which requires AVX processor extensions will not run. However there is a beta insider windows 11 version which has now introduced this and seems to work but a bit unstable.

        • So MATLAB won't work on these ? 😲

Shows as $1,814.18 on the website?

    • Yeah same?

    • Incrased to $1814.18

When I open the web, it was $1598.00 and when I reach to the checkout, it became $1814.18

      So sad.

Then I used the webchat to do price match matching Harvey Norman.

Charged $1814.18 and will get the difference $216.18 AUD refunded later.

Not sure if this can activate the amex offer.
