US Black Friday / Cyber Monday Sales Discussions

Sales List

We are trying to collect all the good Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals from US that also ship to Australia. If you know good Black Friday deals that ships here, please either (1) submit them as a deal or leave a comment with a link.

Moderators and Power Users will be able to edit this post to include those sales — either links to the deal discussions on OzBargain (preferable) or externally to merchants' website.

Is anyone planning on buying anything on the Black Friday sales?

Looks like a lot of places have certain specials each day leading up to it too.

Comments

  • On Friday they will be hugely discounted.

Many US deal sites are tracking the Black Friday / Cyber Monday sales:

Still need to find a good way to sort through the real good buys though.

    • And half the time international shipping is restricted, which is very frustrating.

      • Hopefully the OzBargainers out there will post a list of the US websites that post internationally.

      • Send it to my yearly Shipito box. :)

  • I might have a good look this year, last year we were away.

I looked into shipito.com, their shipping prices are cheap but not as cheap as say amazon! I recall they dont tack on extra shipping and this might be true since their volume rates would be no where near amazon etc.

I might just go on the assumption I dont save atleast $120 on a small item its not worth quoting up

  • I have a few things lined up at Amazon(nothing of interest to anyone) to get sent to the forwarder but I am waiting to see what pops up in the sales so I can ship it all at once.

  • Black Friday is awesome, I usually buy about $950 worth of stuff and have it consolidated with shipito

Whatever's cheap really, nothing in mind.

    • Hi, do you need to contact them before having multiple orders shipped to their address? How does that bit work?

      • You need to open a virtual mailbox account with them. Any packages they receive will be stored for 90 days. You can choose to consolidate the packages at any time, after which you have 3 days to have it sent to you.

  • +2

I wish Australia post would open one combined with them, New Zealand post has just opened their one for Black Friday so I might just get it sent there to family and then back, their postage costs are in NZ dollars which makes it a bit cheaper, but don't think they combine the postage, have 2 days to investigate :)

  • Hey guys, this website refreshes every year to list as many Black Friday ads as it can find from US stores/sites http://theblackfriday.com/
With the site rules, could I post this as a deal so more people can see it? Or will it just get removed?

  • Shall we turn this thread into a Black Friday discussion (in the same style as ClickFrenzy thread) where we list all the good deals that can be shipped to Australia, and then mods and power users can edit the main post to include those deals?

Also feel free to submit Black Friday deals using the main deal submission form, as long as the deal can be posted to Australia.

    • I think that'd be a great idea, considering it's only going to get busier in the next 2-3 days. Then the best deals can be (re)posted to the main deal page like we've had with ClickFrenzy deals

    • Yes, good plan.

    • Don't forget Cyber Monday.

      • We'll cover both in this thread for this weekend :)

  • dam it missed the kingston 256gb ssd on amazon for $140

  • Should be some good stuff from Lenovo. They don't ship to Australia, but last year they had some insane deals from the Outlet / Doorbusters (picked up a looaded gaming laptop for $450)

    • May be hard for the younger mob to appreciate but you could have one of these in Queensland about 20 years ago [no licences]. Shame, because I've yet to get a black friday deal.

  • Just looking at Amazon.co.uk

For the next hour, they have Mad Men, Seasons 1-5 for $63 AUD shipped. Thats way cheaper than their normal price but not sure if it's a deal. here

    • It was a Lightning Deal so snapped up pretty quickly. It appeared tonight for the second time this week. They also did one earlier this week for Dexter 1-5, among others.

  • Amazon.co.uk has had some good black friday deals, but the really good ones sell out in under a minute.

Nilfisk C120 3-6 PAD Big Accessory Pressure Washer with 1650W Motor, currently at £98.99 is to be on special in just over an hours time at time of posting. I have added a screenshot for same.

Currently sells for £82.49 after removing VAT + £65 shipping. I know shipping is a lot, but still the total comes to around AU$236. This model sells for ~$399 at Bunnings / Sydney Power Tools / Harvey Norman etc.

So still a massive saving, even after paying £65 shipping.

It has been on special previously: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/74917 for $153 delivered. Currently sitting at $236 delivered.

    https://dl.dropbox.com/u/20969720/amazon.png

    • They have also featured it twice in the black friday deals site for £89. But they had it at £92 regular price last week, so its swings and roundabouts.

Roku Box HD. $51 delivered from Amazon.

Amazon offers the Roku HD 720p Wireless Media Player, model no. 2500R, bundled with a $5 Amazon Instant Video Credit for $39.99 with free shipping. (The credit will be added to your Amazon account automatically.) Assuming you'll use the credit, that's $15 under our June mention and the lowest total price we could find for the current generation Roku HD by $5. This device streams 720p HD content from Netflix, Amazon Video On Demand, MLB.com, Pandora, Flickr, Revision3, and more. It features Ethernet connectivity, 802.11n wireless, one HDMI output, and more. -Dealnews

This would be quite good if you could setup your router with a US VPN/Proxy. You would also have to get a step down transformer.

    • You probably wouldn't need a step down. Quite a few discussions on various forums suggest the 5.2V power adapter is a 100V-240V one. Even if it was a 110V only adapter, a visit to DSE or Jaycar for a cheap 240V adpater with similar specs would do the trick.

      • +3

I have a Roku HD and can confirm it is 100-240

      • +1

I have a Roku HD setup just a week ago. We don't need stepup transformer. It works perfectly with our 230V.

        • +1

Stepup? Glad you're not trying to run it on three phase! ;)

    • Can someone tell me how Roku works? Does it need to be connected to TV using a cable?
And the built in wireless, is it for streaming all 600+ channels even if it's used in australia?

    • I'd rather pay the extra ~$20 and get the Roku 2 XD for USD $70.96 :-) been looking for it to come on sale!

  • +1

Based on previous years I found Amazon UK to be the best, however:

    1. It was in the week leading up to Cyber Monday, not Cyber Monday itself!

    2. It was via Lightning Deals. You had to be ready to click buy within a few seconds of the deal appearing (since they are time and quantity limited). Some timings overlap well with Australia, others not at all.

This year is no different. Some examples:

    • Harry Potter Complete Blu was down to GBP17.99 twice so far this week (normally 28)

    • Crucial M4 256GB was done to GBP99.99 twice so far this week (normally ~135)

    There were many other examples.

  • The sites are up… that's how you know the deals are going to be good.

However, its only worthwhile if you bundle a few games and it also works out cheaper to use the Amazon Global Priority Shipping instead of the standard shipping.

Lol it's so sad looking at the low, low prices (compared with Oz prices) of stuff that is impractical to ship to Oz.. e.g. 50" Pannie Viera plasma for $299!

Just bought the ~$38 64gb micro SD cards from amazon though =)

    • this is why i like my own statement :"it's not i dont want to support australian market, but the price is too high in australia. if i pay those expensive stuff in australia, then the one who makes profit is really the retailer and manufacturer, and we, as the end user get poor and poorer without any savings" this is also why the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer if they keep buying locally while, they can spend a lot less with the same item delievered to australia from overseas

  • I am keeping my fingers crossed for some good Camera deals on either a mirrorless or DSLR!

    • Olympus OMD EM5 looks good@

    • Scotty already posted about the DMC G3 here? http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/85512
Is that any good? I'm thinking about getting a mirrorless too.

      • I am personally holding out for the Sony NEX-5N, can get it grey for about $600 but fingers crossed it will drop slightly especially with the release of the NEX-5R.

        • I just bought one from ebay (HK), it was $477 for the single lens kit.

It looks like the seller just pushed up the price though, strange.

        • There are a couple of place around (such as eglobal) which have the dual lens kit for mid 500's, don't need it till next February so have a bit of time to hold out for any price drops.

        • I think eglobal is one of those companies that add $80 shipping. So it works out nearly to be $600 anyways.

    • Note this crashplan deal doesn't start until 11pm tonight Sydney time (it's confusing on their site).

    • Thanks - just grabbed 1yr free! Just happened to stumble across your post with 2 mins to go.

Lightning deal for Battlestar Galactica Complete Series Blu-Ray is coming up on Amazon UK in less than 38 mins - will be keen to see whether it beats the recent $73 shipped deal.

EDIT: Grr, just showed up at 50% off (29 pounds)… and was sold out within a minute to people on a 'wait list'.

    • I got a pretty good Amazon US Lightning Deal with 'The Big Bang Theory' seasons being discounted to $7.99 and the latest season out (Season 5) going for $8.99 - which is around $10 - $25 off the normal Amazon price.

Only downside is that the discs are Region 2, but got a region-free player so that solves that problem!

      • Region 1 is US. Region 2 is UK. So if you bought from US they are most likely Region 1.

      • Was reading Amazon's help page on Lightning Deals and in the case of BSG there must've been tons of people with their fingers cocked ready to add it to their cart within seconds of the deal going live. The 'wait list' as they describe it seems to be a second chance thing.

        http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=2…

Should've paid more attention to Gav's remark above about there only being a window of a few seconds.

        • It was a separate post (about Prometheus to Alien) but yeah, with the popular deals you have a window of up to about 5-10 seconds, otherwise your odds dim somewhat. EDIT: Oh yeah, and a previous comment on here. ;)

        • Well, I made up for the earlier disappointment! Just scored a 2TB WD My Passport for US$136 delivered. Clicked on add to cart button the second it appeared, but got a popup saying I was #18 in the waiting list. Then a minute later another box popped up making it available to me.

        • Congrats! You've worked out how to score Lightning Deals. :)

    • I managed to buy one, they were sold out in 30 seconds.
Another run will be happening at 1.30am in Brisbane (2.30am Sydney time)for those desperate for a bargain priced series. I clicked buy within 5 seconds and you have a few minutes to check out to get the discounted price.

A Main Hobbies have Gopro HD Hero2 surf or motorsports editions for $150 begining at 5am PST, unfortunately they only ship Gopro cameras to the US (free shipping) :( can also claim an extra $5 off with code CALPNOV125 still may be a good deal using a mail forwarder, however is too much trouble for me. Link to pre black friday specials is here http://www.amainhobbies.com/index.php/cPath/2797/n/Pre-Black…

    • Unfortunately the motorsport ones had disappeared and I added the surf edition to my cart and literally 30 seconds later when I went to proceed to checkout … it disappeared from the cart. :( Still +vote as it was a good find.

  • Just checking today's Lightning Deals on Amazon, Sandisk Extreme SSD deals coming up at midnight AEST.

  • with the lightning sales, is shipping still able to be combined? As from my understanding all the transactions would be separate? Are Amazon reasonable with their shipping or way over the top like most sites

    • It really depends on what you get. For 2 Sharpening steels and the headphones shipping was 19.47. I remember for a pc case i wanted that was 70 bucks, they wanted 70 shipping lol (obv cos it was so big) but i also said they wanted $50 for a <100g cable which is totally stupid.

  • Audio Technica M50 Headphones shipped for: AUD 114.34 http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATHM50-Professional-Mon…

I finally get to see what the hype is all about.
P.S wanted a m2f audio extension lead worth a buck twenty, they wanted $50 shipping. NO DEAL!

    • You sure? If it's 'Sold by Amazon' their postage is very good, doubt they'd charge $50 postage.

      • Ye was probly a vendor, didnt look that close

    • Arent they region locked? The games i mean.

      • The ones from the uk work here.

      • PS3 Games will work fine.
Downloadable Content is region locked. AU gets the same content as the European's when it comes to DLC on the PS3. So buying from Zavvi is fine.

  • So what about pc games? If you need to download patches etc. excluding DLC

    • Hey,

Not sure if you question was in response to Crusader's reply, but I'm going to assume it was. The vast majority of PC games are not locked to a region, there are a few exceptions (most relate to Russia versions which are cheap). The ones you'll get through Zavvi will be fine, I've bought a whole bunch from their in the past.

If you are specifically after PC games and download aren't a big issue for you check out the online digital downloads for games, they are usually much cheaper and it's faster so you can start playing sooner. Places to check out are green man gaming, gamersgate, steam and amazon (digital downloads).

  • I'm not too sure of the camera deals. Some are great but Kogan is offering them cheaper (even though I can get free shipping here via family in US). Eg. Nikon D5100 '$250' instant savings still makes it about $50 more expensive than what Kogan has to offer.

Are there benefits in buying US though as far as warranty goes? Seems to be the only one if there are but prices aren't as competitive as I was expecting.
Maybe Cyber Monday will bring more?

  • +3

Black Friday - Because only in America, people trample others on Black Friday for sales exactly one day after being thankful for what they already have on Thanksgiving day!

I agree Greenspoon, cameras don't appear to be cheaper. I was looking at Canon T3/1100D/Kiss X50 and found many cheaper in Aus, including one cheaper than Kogan.

In addition, many of the good prices (laptop/notebooks) required you to visit bricks and mortar - and they say Australian online shopping is behind.

    • +3

Technically Black Friday is INSTORE and Cyber Monday is ONLINE, so don't give up yet…. it's not over.

      • +1

Agreed, INSTORE is where I found all the bargains this weekend - the lines weren't as bad as normal either, and they still had stock of most "door busters" many hours after opening…

  • Another lightning deal on Battlestar Galactica Complete Series Blu-Ray will go live on Amazon.co.uk at 2:29 AM AEDT. If it's the same price as yesterday, it should work out to about AU$44 shipped.

    • The price for me was £32.58 which works out to around $50. Definitely a bargain

  • +2

If anyone uses Evernote then this might interest you: The Evernote Bible, Kindle Edition, is Free throughout Black Friday / Cyber Monday. Free international wireless delivery: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009ZIU9SQ/

    • Nice one thanks. Used Evernote a little bit but suppose it can't hurt to learn more about it.

  • Would blu rays on amazon.com for example be cheaper on cyber monday than black friday?

    • Given that many have been available for $4 and now sold out, I wouldn't count on it.

  • one thing for sure, you would want to be certain that they are cheaper then locally.

  • Have a huge order with Threadless but it doesnt seem to be dropping to $9.50 postage? The little banner at the top of the screen is still there but its not an active click banner or anything :(
