If you fancy an ultrawide that's 40" not 34", IPS not VA, flat not curved, and don't care that it's a budget brand, then here's a deal for you. Down 43% from $1299 to $739 (same discount as last June according to camels). Sold out at the Prism+ AU site, but there's stock on Amazon AU.

Seems a rarely-mentioned monitor launched in 2022, but it's shown in a YouTube "review".

    40 inch ultrawide FLAT………

    LOL

  • It was never $1299.

    • It was $1299 when I added it to my Amazon wish list (along with many other ultrawides) last month. Price history on camels site shows this.

Fair enough. Most of their claimed RRPs are ridiculous but I guess $1299 wasn't their RRP.

It actually usually is, however it has regular massive sale prices - https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B0B2HMZKLC

But I don't know why anyone would buy a no-name brand when you can regularly get an MSI 40" for $750 - https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/monitors/34-inch-and-abo…

      • Nice one. Agree the MSI would be a better idea.

I've had my eye on this for a long time prior to buying a 40 inch

I can confirm that the Amazon price 'was' $1299, but it also for a long time had $400 discount, bringing it down to $899 which was the RRP on the PRISM+ website.

So you're correct, RRP of $1299 was/is a farce although technically it was listed at that price.

    • It's "$1299" again now if you want to witness the event @petal666 :)

After my curved 34" became faulty and I went to a flat 34" I realised that you 100% need it to be curved at 34" to see the sides of the screen correctly.

at 40" flat seems like a bad idea.

    • place the screen further back and increase text size

      • If you do that, why bother buying a bigger screen?

Seems like such a waste of money to do that for an inferior experience.

For a long time, the net price for this was $899 on Amazon - listed as $1299 with $400 discount.

The $899 matched the RRP for PRISM+ website. Occasionally, PRISM+ had deals which brought that RRP down, but the notion that the actual RRP is $1299 is a sales pitch.

In the end I found out (whether accurate or not) that QSM and PRISM+ use the same panels, with QSM being cheaper. As example, currently $735 on ebay from QSMs official store.
