Yep it's about time for a 5w-30. My 5w-40 is taking a little long to drop back to my desired pressure as these months get colder. (yay datalogging)

    Thanks OP!

    • whats your 5w40 oil temp at highway cruising speed (110kph)?

      • No 110 roads near me, only 100; but usually about 93-95c goes up about 7 degrees on non-competitive track days.

        • My FB25 sits on 100c at 100kph. Neato.

    • pls share UOA-criteria that you have replied-on: knowledge sharing?

Not to be confused with Castrol 5W-30 Long Life which is DPF compatible (and the Nulon is for petrol cars)

    • +1

This. The Castrol LL is a higher spec oil - Its VW 504 00 / 507 00 compatible. Which for $51 right now is probably the cheapest I've seen it. The similar product from Nylon is 5w30 Euro which is the same spec as the Castrol LL.

  • Just in time. And suitable for my E10 consuming car as well.

This or wait for Penrite HPR 5 50%? Got supercheap creds expiring in like 2 weeks and really want a 6L bottle to satisfy my alloytec in one go.

      Penrite 💩

This is API SP, noice for Direct Injection engines.

    • Is this newer specced oil better than the Castrol Edge with API SL?

      • +2

Yes, API SP is more superior and introduced from May 2020 https://penriteoil.com.au/knowledge-centre/Specifications/19…

SP - Introduced from May 2020, with added performance benefits required to meet the demands of modern engine technology – including, engine downsizing, gasoline direct injection (GDI), turbocharging and gasoline particulate filters (GPFs). Engine oils meeting the requirements of API SP deliver several performance advantages versus current API SN and API SN PLUS categories for spark-ignited internal combustion engines, including:

Low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) mitigation throughout the drain interval
        Engine and chain wear performance
        Corrosion protection
        Emissions system compatibility
        Oxidation stability
        Deposit control
        Sludge and varnish protection

        • Thanks. I just started reading up on these oil grades.

I wonder why a multinational brand like Castrol only uses SL whilst Australia only Nulon and Penrite can use the latest SP.

@Fuzor: I've been using Castrol on the same old MZR engine for ages, made in Malaysia. New package now stating hybrid spec, .etc. but lagging behind on API spec, on the other hand, CASTROL MAGNATEC 5W-30 is API SP but part synthetic, some MAGNATEC becomes full synthetic, I haven't been following…

I've used Edge 0W-40 a couple of time post 2020 and did notice they were API SP. For Direct Injection Turbo high performance engines, I'd stick to Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 (SP), the best of its kind.

  • Excellent price. Bunnings is 1c cheaper, so you can't get the 10% off price guarantee from this deal?

    • +2

Even if this is cheaper, it's still a members only offer. Not sure if Bunnings would honor it.

      • Supercheap Auto beat $1 for me

  • Thanks OP. I attempted to grab four, but only two per customer.

    • You can always create another account.

  • Got 2, been running this on both cars for a while. Now I just need a deal for the filters.

    Good for the corolla
