Penrite HPR 5 Engine Oil 5W-40 7 Litre $67.99 (Club Price) + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Supercheap Auto

40

Stumbled cross this SCAdeal for club members for some Penrite Hpr5 7 litre full synthetic.
5w40 should cover a wide range of cars.
Seems to get pretty good reviews, and also good price for Penrite full synthetic.

Remember. If you buy 2 or spend over $100 in one transaction you get $5 credit to your account.

Too expensive, usually $42 for 5L

Usually is a bit of a stretch.

But yeah anything under $8/L for penrite is a solid buy.

Word of warning if you buy this for motorbikes like I used to:

The SCA product page image labelling and text still shows as meeting the JASO MA specification. But the Penrite product page no longer does.
Also a forum post on it reveals that this was a recent change to the product.

This discrepancy makes me nervous about current store stocks for use in motorbikes.

    • Dude, motorcycle oil is truly different to car engine oil. It is due to the fact that bike oil is running through the gearbox as well which is hard on the oil. From memory there are much higher levels of ?zinc? in bike oil.

Do what I do and avoid buying bike oil from a bike shop.

Go to an oil distributor and buy 20L of a fully Synth Shell/Mobile/etc oil for your bike (i do this for car oil as well) which will be less than $200.
