Whats the main user case for these?
Htpc?
Retro gaming, HTPC, general desktop.
Whatever floats your boat as long as it doesn't require big graphics cards.
For me I set one up with Ubuntu that will be a header for Sonarr/Radarr/Plex/etc and taking the strain off my Synology setup.
It has a 9th gen i7 desktop processor. Quite capable of doing anything (except gaming, maybe).
65W CPU in a Micro PC case?
We've got a fair few Dell Optiplex 5080s at work that I bought as they were just shy of $1000 new from Umart years ago. The small fan in the micro case does get loud under a bit of load (not benchmarking, just using for office work/Chrome tabs :-|) so I disabled turbo boost with a regkey change and customising power settings in Windows, they're still quick. Also contain i7 CPUs, specifically the i7-10700T at 2.00GHz, they're 35W though I think.
Shame to lose a bit of performance I guess, but no one really notices in the office.
imo laptop fans are louder. And due to the size of these it's easier to place further away from where your seated to reduce any potential noise
Can you put in an m.2?
Yes
Bought a couple of these last time round, received well and packaged well via delivery. Would recommend if anyone wants to dive into these little things.
