8GB? Why do they make these still?

    • Surprisingly it was much faster than 16GB in Dell Vosto.

Still good for MS Paint and OzBargaining on OzBargain.

OzBargaining on 8GB RAM? Not on Google Chrome

The i5-12450H in this laptop has a base TDP of 45w and Max TDP of 95w. Your not going get anywhere near 7.6hrs usage considering it only has a 46Wh battery. Also the processor only has 4P cores, and 4e cores.

The screen is also a low quality TN panel and not IPS.

According to PSREF (the bible for Lenovo system specs), this has a TN screen.

If it's anything like the TN screen in my Ideapad 3 (albeit from 2022 and with a Ryzen CPU), it is the worst screen I have had misfortune to lay eyes on. Unless you're looking dead on at it, the colours start to go weird - and even if you are looking at it Just Right, the colours are somewhat washed out.

(I bought it as a refurb of Grays online - apart from the screen and the garbage tier UMIS SSD they put in it; it's been a perfectly acceptable system.)

    • Thank you, i was not aware of that. Interestingly it not mentioned on Lenovo or OW website either.

  • Can anyone recommend something decent in this price range (or a little bit more) for BYOD school work with at least 6 hours battery life please.

Check out the refurb i7 posted today

Might need a new battery though

Has USBC charging according to comments so can use a big battery pack

Edit: this may be a better option though, check posirives and negatives, I'm currently looking for essentially the same as you

This has less ram, better CPU but more power hungry, more warranty

Hopefully others can add to this list of positives and negatives

I think (not 100% confirm) the memory can be upgraded quite easily.

Memory soldered to systemboard, no slots, single-channel (8GB models)

      • Thanks for this, on YouTube, I saw many videos posted about upgrades, but it is hard to know exactly what model.

        • I linked above to the Lenovo PSREF website](https://psref.lenovo.com) - if you have the full model number (for Lenovo products, it's 10 characters and usually ends with AU), you can plug it in there and see the specs for that specific model in a good level of detail.

Alternately, you can plug in the model name (or ideally, the first four characters of the model number) and get a general overview of the model - here's the page for this laptop.
