These days even mineral oils can be longer/long service interval rated. Plus your engine seals are less likely to leak. Pretty much common knowledge in Aero (piston) engine circles.
15W oil is rated for temps as low as -20 Celsius.
You could go a 10W40 version (various companies make them), but they're considerably more expensive and usually only come in semi or full synthetic* (*: with extremely long service interval ratings, if you're that way inclined).
