Rewards points not velocity bonus points ?

    • +1

      yeah it's 2 rewards to 1 velocity

      • +4

okay its 100k velocity points not 200k velocity isnt?

        • It’s 86k Velocity with the current 15% transfer

          • @nightelves: You would need to do one transfer this month and another next month.

Unlikely to make it for this month transfer even if you get approve tomorrow. Your first statement likely 4 weeks away.

            • @timhn: It's till end of June which you still have time?

    • +1

Yeah change title OP. Still a ripper deal though

    • updated. sorry

      • Great, its good deal as annual fees reduced from $300 to $150.

  • Looks like this is better than https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/836040, $150 fees less but only 10k velocity differ.

    • +1

Note that there's only 75k velocity (150k reward points in first year) with this offer - $150 for 35k more points might make more sense.

  • +4

Tittle needs updating… About chocked when I saw 200,000 Velocity…

    • I was gonna apply immediately……..

    • +2

You must have been swallowing something big.

      • +1

He got 2 ribs removed to help him.

  • Can you apply if you already have prestige card?

  • I have close my prestige card about two months ago. Can I apply and get bonus.

    • yes, citi allows holding different credit cards at the same time
even you still currently hold a prestige, you are still eligible for welcome bonus on citi premier

      • +1

Even if you already holding a Premier card.

Source: I have a Free4Life Premier card and had no problem applied for any Premier deals in the last 4-5 years or so with Citibank.

As long as you can service the debt, you likely to get approve. Citibank don't have cool-down period as other banks.

        • I currently hold a Premier card on the previous deal (110,000 Bonus Velocity Frequent Flyer Points - $8,000 Spend in 3 Months) - just applied and got approved for this one, so would be eligible for the bonus?

      • I had a velocity flyer card 3 months ago, and that was issued by Citi.
Does that prevent me from getting the bonus on the Citi Premier credit card??
        Thanks for your help!

"when you spend $7,000 on eligible purchases in the first 3 months from approval and keep your card for over 12 months"

"Annual fee$150 in the first year and each subsequent year if you spend $48,000 on eligible purchases or cash advances in the previous year. Otherwise $300.3"

This seems like a bad deal, no? $450 in annual fees, not $150 since you need to keep card open for more than 12 months

    • Yeah doesn't sound good when they force you to keep card open for more than 12 months.

      • But the requirements state that you need too

Edit: someone else already clarified this deal is 150k points in first year. Reported title to get it updated.

  • +1

    Pro tip:

    • $7000 spend can be achieved using Citi Payall (0.95% fee) = $66.5
    • If you are able to get reward points in May (you get points after payall, no need to wait till statement end), then you might be able to get the 15% transfer bonus to velocity
    • 200,000 bonus Citi reward Points
when you spend $7,000 on eligible purchases in the first 3 months from approval and keep your card for over 12 months.

I don't think you'll get the points until after the first 12 months?

      • +2

        no, actually from the T&Cs:

150,000 bonus Citi reward Points: You will receive 150,000 bonus Citi reward Points when you spend a minimum of $7,000 on eligible purchases using your new card within 3 months from approval. Eligible purchases exclude Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special Promotions, interest, fees, refunds and Chargebacks. The 150,000 bonus Citi reward Points will be credited to your Rewards Balance within 2 months of meeting the spend criteria. Additional 50,000 bonus Citi reward Points: An additional 50,000 bonus Citi reward Points will be credited to your Rewards Balance within 3 months of your Account being open for 12 months, provided it has been activated by you.

its 150k for first 3 months, then 50k after 12 months

        • +2

Ah this makes more sense thanks.

Title needs to be updated. This is 150k points not 200k

        • +2

Thanks for that, this definitely need to be in the title/description

@altomic the 200k is only if you stay for 12 months otherwise 150k

        • stupid question but if I cancel the card before 12 months I won't be charged the annual fees?

          • @rmsprs: The fee will be in your first statement.

    • Not familiar with Citi Payall - can you pay direct to BSB Acc No? Seems weird you can do this to hit min spend. Low fee too, at least compared to Paypal ~3%

      • +1

        Yes.

Probably over 200 pages on this site discussed about this feature since 2021 or so - just do a search. From then on, almost every credit card deals from Citibank, people have mentioned to do PayAll to meet the requirement spending - especially for the Premier or Prestige cards.

        • thanks mate

  • Does anyone can share whether the point can be redeemed to asia miles?

    • Nope only Prestige card can

      • Thanks. Applied for the prestige one, hope can complete the task by upgrade to Tesla's FSD package.

        • $700 annual fee is a tough ask for Prestige though.

          • @nightelves: Will just use it for first year and then transfer to another bank if there is no better offer.

  • Council rates coming soon. Good timing.

    • Council = Govt. No points, which means prob not eligiible spend.

      • That was what I thought before but it looks like it is eligible for the bonus points, just not the normal spending points.

      • Might be able to bypass with Zip BPAY?

        • Yes work through Zip Bpay. Have done it countless of times.

      • It's not even mentioned in the exclusion list.

You will receive 150,000 bonus Citi reward Points when you spend a minimum of $7,000 on eligible purchases using your new card within 3 months from approval. Eligible purchases exclude Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special Promotions, interest, fees, refunds and Chargebacks

Eugklng is right - included in the min spend but just no points.

        • Can someone please comment if they have confirmed with Citibank that council / govt related payments are included in the 7k spent ?

  • +1

$150 in the first year and each subsequent year if you spend $48,000 on eligible purchases or cash advances in the previous year. Otherwise $300.

    What!! u need to spend 4 k a month . No Thanks

  • +1

It's 150k points in the first year after $7k spend in three months, another 50k points after you keep the card open for 12 months.
So it's 150k points with $7k spend in three months +$150 annual fee, or 200k points with $7k spend in three months +$450 annual fees for two years.

  • Is this the one which used to be no annual fee?

    • +1

yes, thats Citi Signature free for life, but last promo was back in 2015
I applied back in 2014 and still keeping the card till now (still free annual fee)

    • +1

It’s not a bad card with the lounge entry. Yes - Also was nice to get no annual fee so I’ve kept this one.

  • +2

    Same card as this?

If converting all the reward points to Velocity, then it's 75k with $7k spend for $150, or 110k with $8k spend for $300. Seems like the latter is better if you're sure that you will hit the $8k spend in 3 months without any issues? $150 extra for 35k more Velocity points.

  • +2

Who else got this card fee free for life from a deal posted here a few years ago.

  • Got an instant rejection for this one… Possibly they can see I've been doing lots of churning…

    • thats scary, i have not even get confirmation about my application ref # via email.

    • Must be the 30 cards you tried to applied for last year.

    • How quick was your rejection?
I submitted my application on a Saturday morning, got rejected Sunday night. I'm trying to figure out if it was cause I have been churning (3 cards churned/cancelled in the last ~6 months) or they were concerned about my finances..

      • Partner has cancelled 3 cards this month - all backed by Citi/NAB. Then went to applied for this a day after cancelled the 3rd card, got approval next day. No change in income.

  • So I'm assuming the answer is no, but can you apply for this if you already have a Premier card? (not Prestige). As in, the same card. I've had it for about 15 years I think, no annual fee though.

    • Answer is yes

  • What can I get with 150,000 points?

    • +5

Give it to me. I'll know what to do with it. Saves you the headache.

  • +1

I forgot to put card limit and they approved for 45K limit.. now sure what to do with this big limit

  • Did the deal used to be 200k in first year with a $300 annual fee?

  • I had a Velocity Flyer Credit Card about 3 months ago, will I be excluded from the bonus because both are backed by Citi ??

    • +1

No , you will be fine.

Both are backed by Citi/NAB but from different brands. You don’t see any mention about other card from Virgin in Citi T&Cs and vice versa.

      • Thanks heaps! just applied for a new card

  • Just got rejected from this card. My first rejection ever :(

I wonder if it cause I have been churning too much (Churned Velocity, Amex and Westpac card about 3-5 months ago, did not do too much churning last year tho).

I do have 2 other cards open with 15k and 2k limits but my income is high so I thought i would get through…

Not sure if it is worth giving them a call to find out why I got declined. I have a large amount of cash in offset and I could not put that in the credit card application so not sure if that had an impact.

  • +1

got rejected by Citi about 7-8 months ago but at that time I had casual employment, now I have a perm job is it worth applying again or likely to be rejected again?

    • Did you ever call Citi asking why you got rejected? Want to know if they ever disclose the exact details?

      • +1

never called because I assumed they wouldn't disclose the details. But I think I'll give it a go again now that I have fixed income.

        • I tried calling them today, they did not tell me why i was rejected, just the generic thing you get in the email. They did say you can email them to get a re-assessment done. I am thinking of doing that or might just try for a different card.

Although it is getting hard to find good cards that are not anit-churn…

    • +1

You don't know until you try, but I believe your chance to get approved would be much higher than last time.

      • Thank you. will try again!

  • +1

Someone posted in another thread that they got rejected and called for manual re-assessment and got approved.

  • With tax time coming up, does anyone know whether Zip pay to my super (voluntary contributions) will count towards eligible purchase?

    • I have found that Credit Card payments to Zip Pay are considered an eligible purchase for points. However, I have found the Zip stopped accepting the BPAY details for my Superannuation fund late last year - YMMV.

  • got instant reject by citi!
have had prestige card last time cancel 2 months ago

  • is the points eligible for the second time after waiting 12 months?

  • Given their isn’t a waiting period for reapply/qualifying for bonus points, is there anyone who is just cycling between Citi’s bonus points cards, coping the payall transaction fee to meet min spend and repeat? I imagine Citi would stop approving me at some point, just interested in what others are doing. Thanks

  • Anyone has any experience with cancelling this card within 3x months and Citi/NAB refunding the annual fee based on prorata? I’m planning to close this. I have signed up via pointshack and hence the fee is bit pricy $300. Rewards is higher as well. TIA

  • Is there anything stopping you from being eligible for these bonus points if you've closed the same card say a month ago? It doesn't seem like it and I can't find it in the terms, like a lot of other cards "Can't have held the same card in the past 12 months, etc"

    • see here

      • If that is the case, then theoretically you could recycle the exact same for the bonus points every 3 months or so?

        • +1

          Yes.

Once you got approved and meet the spending requirements, nothing stopping from get the bonus.

Once (while already holding the free4life card) I've applied to exactly same deal for Premier card 6 months apart in same calendar year- that was back in 2019. I even rung up CS to confirm.

          • @timhn: Makes sense. Thanks!

            • @thecheapest: Would need to consider the impact on your credit score, with all these credit checks.

  • Anyone have any real world evidence on how long until the bonus points are credited, after required expenditure? I’m aware t&cs say 2 months.

  • Anyone have an idea how long does it take for card to be approved ?

    • Usually 2-3 business days

      • Thanks!! Just a bit worried as seen a few rejection comments posted above!!! I just applied on Sunday got a provisionally approval!!! Fingers crossed.

  • got approved for citi premier with a limit of 34k. was hoping to get atleast 80k so I could do a BT and put it in the offset. total annual income is 200k including rental income and outgoing mortgage is 28,800 + 18k in other card limits.
Has anyone been approved for this card with a higher limit?

  • Just wanted to check did anyone apply for the supplementary card aling with initial application? If yes how long till the supplementary card arrives??

Got my primary card in the mail last week but no communication about the additional card at all.
