16albermarle Project Space and Balai Bahasa dan Budaya NSW (BBBI) present On Indonesian Wearable Art and Hip Hop, a fashion show and hip-hop event celebrating Indonesian culture. Learn about the traditions of textiles across Indonesia including batik, ulos and ikat, used for ceremony and clothing. These works and their cultural history will be showcased on the body to audiences with an interpretive commentary.
Following the showcase, Presiden Tidore and his crew will bring their passion for Malukun culture and their signature blend of contemp- orary and traditional music and dance to the stage.
In Indonesia, Presiden Tidore has a growing audience, attracted to his dynamic performances supported by performers, musicians and artists. His music draws on the traditions and history of his home island, Tidore, and calls for a greater recognition of the complex and vibrant contemporary cultures that lie away from the main centres of Indonesian culture in Java and Bali.
Wow, this looks really interesting. Thanks!
