        I might be missing something, but the 5800H looks to have similar performance to the more efficient 7730U (https://nanoreview.net/en/cpu-compare/amd-ryzen-7-7730u-vs-a…), and there was a deal posted recently to a 15.6" OLED 7730U equipped model for $1k (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/844113). Yep, half the RAM and half the SSD, but also half the cost!

        EDIT: actually clicked the link and it's a 7735U, not a 5800H. Point still stands, can't imagine the performance jump from 30 to 35 is massive. The screen is also a 120Hz vs 60Hz for the $1k laptop, but from an OzB perspective, nothing stands out as this one being a bargain

        if you regularly check Ozbargain then you know that there are heaps of really good deals on Laptops with good specs and price, this one is not one of them. Trust me bro, otherwise people would be jumping on this deal with + votes.

    $2k for a laptop with no discrete GPU? I guess you're paying for the OLED screen. It's only 1080p as well

        No idea why the Elitebooks are much cheaper than Thinkpad equivalent. Elitebook 14" tend to be ram upgradeable too (Lenovo mostly soldered).

        Elitebook 645 R7 5850U with 16GB is going for mid 900 @ megabuy eBay with eBay plus. Not bad as a work/study/general purpose machine.

        Otherwise Elitebook 845 R7 6xxx-7xxx are fetching for 1300-1500 AUD inclusive of GST and delivery charges.

    I'd prefer their model with the 7940HS, with a 3.2K OLED at 120Hz, but with only 16GB or RAM. I'd rip out the 8GB SO-DIMM, throw in a 32GB stick for 40GB of RAM for less than <$140 extra.

    Faster CPU, faster GPU, high resolution screen, though slower RAM as only 16GB in DDR mode, for $1549.00 + $140 for extra 32GB RAM.

        Yes, they are. I had focus primarily on the main specs, which are superior on the Vivobook except the RAM, but I pointed out that can be fixed and still under the lower cost. People of course may prefer the nicer touches on the Zenbook, such as the premium body and faster USB port, though I'm not sure who wants a faster USB port with slower components on it.
