Wouldn't the 4070 Super deal be better? It's got far better benchmarks.
Where is it faster? RT? It's equal to or slower than the 7900 GRE in raster.
This man speaks the truth and yet he is downvoted as tho this is reddit's AMD fanclub. 4070S has better upscaling, raytracing, power efficiency and superior workstation compatibility. DLSS is vastly superior to FSR and that's a fact. 7900 GRE has 4GB more VRAM but the trade-off just ain't worth it
people forever harp on AMD's better raster performance* while disregarding Nvidia's DLSS and RT performance**
* AMD faster by ~5-10%
** Nvidia faster by 50-100%Totally not lying by omission to fit their narrative. Who's paying near $1000 to swear themselves to RT, DLSS, and AI celibacy? Delusional.
Maybe a bit hyperbolic but I agree with you the importance of DLSS should not be understated, even if you have no interest in any other local machine learning
They speak of 'futureproofing' yet their cards are 2nd rate when it comes to workstations, are kneecapped in upscaling, raytracing and AI. There was one AMD fanboy down there who thinks the benefits of DLSS scaled inversely with resolution as tho DLSS 4K is far worse off than 1080p… LOL! Does blud even realize these cards run every modern title native 1080p? Or the fact that DLSS gets better with a greater sample size i.e. HIGHER resolution?
The copium and tech illiteracy of these AMD Only fanboys is laughable. AMD CPUs have been terrific, but their GPUs this gen are atrocious. Best value system for this gen is AMD CPU + Nvidia GPU unless your profession requires Quick Sync in which case it's Intel CPU + Nvidia GPU. Just know when to take the L, guys.
They're very good at mass downvoting facts, though.
AMD just released earnings report, discrete GPU market share is now approximately 5%. All of them are out bandwagoning.
@xrailgun: Agree on everything else, however the % you've listed is a fair bit off, see below:
AIB Graphics Card Market Share
Additionally AMD earnings report has no mention of market share in discrete GPU sector, see also below:
Discussion around benefits and tradeoffs of brand products is useful, but misinformation should not be used to justify our position.
While that's all true about RT and DLSS, the crappy levels of VRAM on Nvidia cards is starting to become a problem in newer games, and those are real problems when they hit.
Just like how NVIDIA fanbois harp on about RT, when in reality it's useless unless you run a 4090, unless you want candy in 30-40fps.
If not the 4070 super even the 4070 ti Asus tuf for $100 extra is by far the better purchase.
Regardless of AMD or Nvidia, you enable RT you take an FPS hit. So yes, 4070 S is the go for a single player experience, but if you are buying for multiplayer and looking for highest possible FPS then RT probably isn't at the top of your shopping list from either brand.
So it's equal at 4K in rasterisation. At 1440p / 1080p the 7900GRE has the edge, however, it also has +4GB of VRAM which later in the cards lifecycle will probably matter for higher better textures, even if it doesn't matter today.
Having said that, DLSS the lower you go in resolution, the more it matters, much better at 1080p, a bit better at 1440p and slightly better at 4K.
There's no world I'd pay more than $20-$30AUD more for a 4070S without a specific use case. At the same price I'd pick this card for the longevity.
HECTIC
Won't fit in the pcie slot.
That was harsh haha.
Sapphire hierarchy from highest to lowest is toxic-> nitro+ -> pure -> pulse
For some the extra clock speed of the nitro for $935 from eBay might be worth the extra
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/226061947421Fun fact is the my old 270x toxic is still refuse to die at age of 10.
And my 6600XT Nitro+ sits tight in my tiny ITX case without any issue (yet).
Truly premium and Sapphire quality is one of the best in AMD GPUs IMHO.
a gimped 7900 and it's not year of the rabbit anymore
If you intend to dabble in 4K gaming in the near future, a better value is the Sapphire Pulse RX 7900 XT which is going for $1169 at the moment on Amazon.
