Creative Ziio 7" MP3 Player Tablet, 8GB $99 (+ $20 Shipping) 16GB $129 (Free Shipping)

Creative is quite known in audio department (remember SoundBlaster soundcards everyone?). Ziio is basically an MP3 player in a 7" tablet form. I know that it is still using Resistive Touch and the specs is below what Ainol could offer but it is equipped with custom media processor and audio enhancement (a good one). So, basically it's an MP3 player but in a tablet form.

      please be kind :D

      • (irish accent) Don't worry boyo. I'll be gentle!

The reviews for this tablet are rather… unflattering.

Of course it was done at a time when the tablet cost $300 to purchase, but when you consider an Ainol Novo tablet can be had for around the same price, I still do not see a compelling reason why you'd want a lower-specced, resistive touch tablet whose only selling point seems to be the better audio chipset.

But would an audiophile want to tote around a 7" tablet just to listen to music?

The software is also ancient — Froyo? That's not optimised for tablets…

Park your shopping round the back and try Ainol

I really like this when it came out. I would still get one for my own reasons but only if it is cheap enough. This price ain't cheap

  • Ahh Creative. I still have the Zen Vision: M but don't use it since I upgraded to the iPhone. It was a really fantastic mp3 player, but it seems that their new stuff isn't anything exciting. Its a bit of a shame tbh

My first MP3 player was a Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB in '99 or possibly '00. It was so awesome. I ripped about 150 CDs to MP3, mostly on an AMD K6-300, which meant it took quite a while. Of course I named all the tracks manually.

I miss you, my bricky friend.

    • You sure? Around year 2000 the iPod hadn't even been released yet. The first one came out in 2001 with a 5-10 GB capacity.

Your memory must be failling :)

      • iPod was not the first mp3 player, by a massive margin. Apple was relatively late to the game.

That said, now that I think of it, the Zen Xtra 60GB was my second MP3 player and probably did come around 2002-2003. I had an earlier version of the same thing in '99/'00.
