      • what avout m.2 storage any spare?

      • Some USFF boxes do support (proprietary) graphics cards, i.e. this HP EliteDesk 800 G8 Desktop Mini, but as these will be customised cards for use specifically in these boxes (hence my use of the term proprietary), you'd need to find a box with the dGPU already fitted or someone selling a card that they've removed to sell separately.

Case in point - see @minty's comment below

  • Hi friend. When will you get the 10500t devices in stock?

  • +3

    is it with hdmi?

    • +5

No. These only have 2x Display Ports on the back.

You could use a Displayport to HDMI converter if needed, be mindful not all converters can do 4k@60hz.

    • +5

Not sure why someone neg voted your comment. It is actually a good question. There is actually a reason for putting in DisplayPorts on this. From Intel's specs:

      Max Resolution (HDMI): 4096x2304@24Hz
      Max Resolution (DP): 4096x2304@60Hz

So, in order to let you have 4K/60Hz, it is best to provide DisplayPorts. However, you will likely need active DisplayPort to HDMI converters (and do need to watch out for the specs of those converters). It is unclear why Intel elected not to implement HDMI 2.0 for a very long time on Intel iGPUs. It was only after AMD started become a treat again and Apple elected to use Apple Silicon, Intel finally beefed up the HDMI output on its iGPUs.

      • +1

neg? maybe someone was too shaky in the morning. i won't sweat over it :D. anyway, reasons why i asked because i normally set up my comps to my receivers to watch movies via hdmi. did a search on display port whether it would carry audio but couldn't get a straight answer. hooked up a comp with display port (with HDMI converter cable) but no sound. maybe i did something wrong.

        • +1

I do get audio when using DisplayPort to HDMI converter. However, it is straight to a monitor with lousy tinny built in speakers, so that doesn't mean audio passthrough to a receiver will work (getting stereo out to monitor speakers is different to DTS or dolby digital).

It's hard to tell for this because an active adapter has to be used (a passive HDMI adapter, even if it works, would result in 4K/24 or maybe 4K/30 for this device). If that's a key requirement, perhaps go for something that has a newer CPU/iGPU? It's quite frustrating Intel just couldn't be bothered getting HDMI done properly for 7th to 10th gen Intel CPU's iGPUs. It finally fixed it in 11th gen, but by then it was too little too late (Apple already moved to Apple Silicon).

It has a dp that you can swap out, here is a usb-c dp port that fits, https://tinyurl.com/ymc7kdw8

  • What's the difference between this and the 7070?

    • I think only Gen9 support.

  • +7

@Calmago Hi mate, I bought this from the previous deal in Feb and the Dell adapter 90W was faulty from last weekend, the unit was not turned on at all. I tried to send you a message from ebay but it seems your message ebay is not opened to receive, sent pm to you via OzBargains, also sent another message to your customer support from your website. Hope I can get you response soon. Thank you

    • +1

UPDATE: I still have not received any response from your team regarding this matter. Quite disappointed for the "Dedicated team providing world class support". Hope I can hear back from you or your team next week.

      • In my experience ACT's customer support is fairly slow in answering. Give it a few more business days maybe?

        • Will do.

    • This is a common issue and these are Used machines - just replace the power supply https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/324398973714

  • Anyone think u could add a graphics card to this ?

  • Got one i7 8gb but does not register for Win 11 ?

  • Can you get the 16GB as one stick?

    • Cost of single modules is too high. That's why they put in 2 x 8.

      • +1

I got one 16GB stick in my machine delivered last week.

Suits my purposes, as I had spare RAM sitting around from previous upgrades.

I paid $53 for a new 16GB DDR4 SO-DIMM last year, which was much better than twice the price for 8GB, so the sweet spot if you ask me.

I WFH and have the need for as much RAM as I can squeeze in for a reasonable price, but YMMV.

  • @almago

I never see anyone ask this, long shot but do you by any chance sell the optional GTX1660 for the HP variants? They're impossible to find outside of pre-optioned models.

  • Does this have 1 or 2 m.2 slots?
If only 1 can I use a sata to m.2 adaptop (i know it will be slower) for 2 m.2 drives?
Laptop need to go in for service so want to move those 2 nvme drives to this temporarily

    • +1

Been watching some tiedowns, and they all show only 1 m.2 slots

      • A second m.2, but that is for WiFi.

    • I googled the specs and it has:

      • One M.2 2280 slot supporting either a PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe or SATA AHCI M.2 drive
      • One 2.5" drive bay supporting a traditional SATA drive

So unfortunately just one M.2 natively, but I don't see why you can't run a 2.5" SATA to M.2 adapter too. Just make sure the M.2 drive you have in the adapter is a SATA drive as I don't think the adapters can convert from NVMe to SATA (could be an active adaptor out there I'm not aware of?)

      • Thanks for input, looks like i would install 1 nvme inside and then maybe use an external usb to nvme adaptor which should work.

Comes up at $259 when you go to link.

    • +1

use the 7060$65OFF code, from OP

  • ok bought…

  • Sorry newbie here.
Will it be sufficient for multitab browsing.
Let's say 8-10 tabs in Chrome or Firefox.
    TIA

    • +1

Should be fine with 16GB ram.

    • +1

      Totally fine!

  • +1

Any idea of idle power draw runninga home assistant/ proxmox?

  • Few questions
    1. What sort of applications can these be used for?
    2. What sort of a lifespan should I be expecting out of these?
    3. My main thing would be to setup a linux mint computer for experimentation and guest login to keep it in hallway, would this work?
    4. Can these be re purposed for a retro gaming console / arcade machine if needed.

    • Pretty much anything except AAA gaming and video editing. The HD630 graphics even does h265 decoding.

They are used but a very refined model because they sell thousands over many generations. Think Corolla type reliability, I use one as a torrent and music server on 24/7 for over two years with no issues. No guarantees but there is usually a years warranty and they are by all accounts very reliable in deployment.

Have seen guys run consoles on these.

      • Good to hear, thank you!

  • Nice deal. I want one to replace my existing proxmox server for a more powerful one. Also using another micro sff dell optiplex as opnsense firewall/router.

  • What do you reckon of this machine's (more specifically, the CPU's) capabilities for web dev (VS Code, node, python, docker, 20-30 browser tabs…)? Is it an old enough generation that I'd likely want to upgrade it in a year or two anyway?

I'm looking at dipping my toes into the world of Linux. I've always bought recent generation macs, so never thought much beyond how much RAM/capacity I need, figuring out reasonable processor specs is new territory.

  • Thank you OP.
Picked one up to replace an Optiplex 7010 with an i5-3570

  • Is it possible to use the windows 11 key on another machine?

    • Doubt it, key will be tied to the motherboard and likely activated with HWID tying the hardware to Microsoft servers. You won't have a physical product key but I'm not sure if you can move a HWID activation to another machine, maybe but do some research around moving HWID for Windows OS activation.

      • thanks, will have a look

  • Bought one with 8GB, thanks OP! Have 2x16GB SODIMM ready to go in, going to be perfect for running a Plex server as a more powerful solution to the NAS that currently hosts Plex.

  • Is there a big difference between this and the

    Dell OptiPlex 7070 Micro Intel i5 9500T 2.20GHz 16GB RAM 256GB SSD Wi-Fi Win 11

That some of us missed out on???

    • +1

~6% lower in CPU mark, but I don't think there's that much difference.

      • Thanks! I guess I’ll pull the trigger

  • @Calmago

G'day, Do you happen to have any with the rear usb-c port?

It looks like the option rear usb supports Type-C Alt Mode/DP-Alt mode, which is what I would need to be able to use my docking station.

I want to be able to switch between my work laptop and a little home PC like this just via one cable… Let m eknow if you have nay, and I'm happy to pay a premium ( but still ozbargain approved ) price for it.

    Thanks!

    • Personally I don’t look at stock that closely as we have thousands of them. Most commonly I’ve only ever extra DP/ HDMI or sometimes an extra network port.

Nothing stopping you from sourcing that part though, but I’m not sure if it’s DisplayPort over type c.

      • Thanks for the reply. The spare part seems to have jumped a bit in price. I'll keep my eye out for it, or check some refurbs in person if I get the chance.

        Thanks again.

      • Any for sale with the extra network port?

  • Can this play/stream 4k remux files via Plex or should I stick to my gaming PC?

  • +1

Just received my 16GB model. It has a single 16GB RAM stick Honestly what Iwas hoping for. Miss out on dual channel out of the box but easier to Max it out to 32GB

    • +1

what's the condition like .. do you have any pics you could share?

      • I would say the condition is very good. At a distance, it looks immaculate. Up close the black paint has worn out on the back corners, there was some light sticker residue on front grill and when I opened it up there was some dust on the internal speaker.

I won't be able to share pics

  • I bought one, feels too noisy. is it normal. ?

    • In what way? Fan?

      • yes, humming.

  • Just saw this, just a quick question.

If I install a NVME to boot from, will I have to clone the SSD to the NVME to make it boot up, or can I do a fresh install of Win11 and it will get 'magically' authenticated from the BIOS/MB?

    Thanks in advance.

    • Its activated based on hardware ID and when it pulls it up from the MS server it will activate. IIRC there isn't hardware keys stored on BIOS anymore.

      • Oh, so you don't need to try to record the windows serial key anywhere anymore?

        • +1

Nope, you'll be fine if you're just replacing storage device

  • Juts received mine.
Condition is good. The strange thing is that it came with 90W power adaptor instead of 130W. As a result the PC went into throttled mode. Did anybody encounter this?

    • The 8500T CPU is 35W and comes with the 90W adaptor. Both of mine came with the 90W adaptor.

  • I received mine with 130w power adaptor, But my wifi is not working. It is seeing all networks, when entered password, it says cannot connect. I tried to connect to wifi as a personal hotspot on my mobile as well with no luck.

  • Anyone having issues with the Ethernet port in Windows? The upload speed is very limited. I tested the hardware in Ubuntu and it works as expected.

    • I have not tried Ethernet, but definitely Wifi for me.

      • My wifi works fine, have you tried booting into linux or the recovery partition to check the wifi?

        • I thought there was only win 11… Dont know if linux was installed.

          • @Perumal: It's not preinstalled, but you can create a Ubuntu USB drive. There is a dell recovery partition that you can boot into though I think.

            • +1

@Poppin: Ok, I downloaded DELL supportassist and it downloaded BIOS and all required drivers and since then I could connect to WIFI and is all working.

    • Tested both wi-fi and Ethernet. Both show the (almost) same speed

      • Must be some issue with the windows image that’s been installed. None of the suggestion online could resolve the issue either.

  • What kind of m2 support in this machine sata or nvme?

    • The included drive is M.2 SATA but it does support nvme

  • @Calmago
    Is there one with i5-8500?

The 8500T has a base frequency of 2.10 GHz while the 8500 non-T has a base frequency of 3.00 GHz

  • Does this model support intel vPro? Does it have the Intel i219LM NIC (required for vPro) or does it use a realtek NIC?
Also, what is the wattage on the power brick?

  • +1

Are these devices cleaned inside out and new thermal paste applied or should I do that myself?

  • Hi all, I received mine and I'm quite impressed (I cannot fault it yet)

quite clean and tidy, everything neatly packaged, recommended A+

  • Just an FYI… I just used this code and it still works

  • Has anyone successfully managed to output 4k 60Hz?

I got one of these and an active DP to HDMI cable to watch 4k on my TV, but the display settings only allow up to 30Hz. Tried updating to the latest Intel UHD Windows 11 driver to no avail. I suspect the cable, but before I return it, it would be good to confirm this Dell is 60Hz capable.

Cable is advertised as 4k/60 capable:
