      I jumped on at this price as I think the chances of securing the LGC3 around this price are low, and the other monitors will get nowhere near this in price within 3-6 months if you ask me.
      The curve is a turn-off yes, (mainly as I have a flat second screen) but we'll see. I might ditch my second monitor.
      Problem is now I have to spring for a 4080Sup or up to power it…

        This monitor would be better than the LG C3 or C2, despite the curve. TVs have the OLED automatic brightness limiter and lack of built-in auto-sleep which can be annoying, so it's always nicer to get a proper gaming monitor if possible. The 240Hz refresh is also a big plus over the 120Hz of TVs.

        I like my LG C2 for PC gaming, but I would have preferred a proper OLED gaming monitor at around the same price.

        I've watched/read lots of reviews on this monitor and people that weren't keen on curved displays generally say it's a non issue mostly due to the subtleness of it. Apparently the curve helps to make reflections less noticable too

    Although 240Hz 4K OLED monitors are very appealing now, the prices have not yet stabilized. By the end of this year, a large number of OLED panels from BOE and CSOT will hit the market, and we will see a price war similar to last year's SSDs

      I'm guessing the upcoming price war will mean they hit exactly around this mark ~$1400 or so. Retail is about $2k…

        Fine by me. I think i would rather spend more money on the GPU upgrade so the 6 month wait time just puts us closer to the 5080/90. I don't think my 3080 would push this monitor very well and I'm not that inclined to upgrade to the 40 series, would much rather wait.

          Fair enough.

          Let's come back in 6-12 months and see what the price is at. I think this will still be the all time low, or within 5-10%. All those other monitors will be more $$$.

          I'd rather have it now, even without the proper GPU to play games fast. And yep, when 50 series comes out I will likely upgrade.

        I think you'll be waiting until 2025.

        I can't recall where, but I have vague memory of industry scuttlebutt discussion that they are phasing out the 42" sizes of OLED TV's… but I might be pulling that out of thin air. I think they don't sell what they were hoping for, and being that monitors are now fulfilling the OLED space around that size, sales will be further reduced.

          I recall that 55" OLED TV panels are the most efficient panel size that can be divided from an OLED sheet in production. When they cut a larger panel size from the sheet, it supposedly gives them an odd number of small and large panel sizes that are either not widely popular due to smaller size (e.g. 32") or a size that is not so price competitive against a 55" in the market.

          That said, 42" is perhaps well suited for businesses that need something larger and more readable than a 32" monitor to put up on the wall or in a window front, but also something light enough to be easily mounted.

      Only if you’re obsessed with having your sliders at ultra (bet you can’t tell the difference in gameplay to a notch or two lower), refuse to use DLSS or think 120fps is the minimum.

      My 3080 drives my 4k tv @ 60fps just fine.

        DLSS means Actual rendering resolution reduced.
        I use 3080, too, not expecting stable in 4k 60 with my game library. But glad that you enjoy yours.

          Um, yes. but you'd turn on DLSS if you can't get the FPS you want at 4K 'raw'.
          You know DLSS boosts it to 4K so it's actually 'rendered' to the monitor at 4K right?
          DLSS at 1440p up to 4k will be better than 1440p native/raw/upscaled, visually.

          That’s because they’re still new and haven’t been used enough yet to burn in, most people get it around the 4 year mark (conveniently 1 year after all the OLED burn in warranties end)

      It's a slight risk with any OLED.

      Dell have a 3yr warranty specifically to cover this. From the webpage:

      3-Year Advanced Exchange Service and Premium Panel Exchange (Including coverage for OLED burn in)

      Otherwise auto-hide your taskbar, use dark-mode, setup a black or moving wallpaper, set your screensaver to be aggressive and to turn off the monitor relatively fast.

      If you only play one game constantly, you might be be concerned by the HUD otherwise all good.

      Thinking about this, alternatively do nothing of the above and push it as much as you can so that any burn-in is sure to occur within 3 years and then you are good to claim…?!

      Dell support is great in my experience, but I wonder if there is a subjective factor to how bad the burn-in might be before they consider a return???

          These 32" 4k models all use the new 3rd generation panel from Samsung with a hardware A.I burn-in maintenance routine and the backlights are slightly more power efficient to deliver the same brightness, increasing longevity. They claim the A.I chip gives 2x longevity of the panel compared to Gen 2.

          As far as I saw in my own research, I couldn't find any detailed reports of OLED burn in from people who had used their monitor for 3000-5000 hours (as reported by the monitor OS) on 2nd generation panels or similar panels from LG.

          If you are using the monitor in a dynamic way (not displaying a static image all day or turning off the care features - 'abusing the warranty') then you don't need to worry. Some brands even have image recognition for static parts of the display that dims the pixels of unchanging logos or U.I elements in games etc. I don't think the Dell has that (explicitly) but it is probably part of the generic hardware A.I chip included by Samsung anyway - based on what they have described - and maybe Dell is just ignorant about advertising it or hasn't made the time to integrate its functions fully with their own display software/firmware.

        They all (should) have explicit burn-in definitions described in their policies so you can check the other brands using the same 32" Samsung panel because as far as I can see, Dell doesn't give a definition publicly. That said, it's normally something like a 3-5% reduction in brightness of a certain area % of pixels at a certain brightness on a neutral colour. These monitors come with a 17-segment brightness report and funnily enough, mine already had several segments with below 99-100% average brightness. That's different to image retention, of course. :)

      The order I received last week had a protective peel and was in perfect condition. But people who ordered at launch weren't so lucky.

      I assume all stock fulfilled from this point onwards gets the peel, but no guarantees obv.

      Some other brands use a flat version of the same panel. This is by far the cheapest for whatever reason, the curve is minimal.

          MSI has much cheaper overseas pricing while Dell is almost 1:1 with exchange rate compared to their U.S store. I think the MSI is actually one of the cheapest versions of this panel and at least some of their newer models will not receive any firmware updates or fixes even if the firmware is faulty. That alone is a huge red flag.

        Legit my screen's calibrated to 120nit (since I do photo editing) and it looks perfectly fine during the day (and very bright in a dimly lit room); I understand that everyone's use case is different but personally I don't know why you want to be looking at searing bright screen all day.

      That's not correct. Even if that is what the policy says, that practice would be in breach of Australian Consumer Law. Their actual warranty is unlimited replacements up to 3 years from your original purchase date and you may receive refurbished/repaired units that may not actually be brand new. But if they have panel issues later too or they arrive with damage from the previous owner then they should replace it (and as per the law, they must).

      They should not be sending refurbished/repaired replacements when the product has a major fault that cannot be repaired (or within reasonable time) such as a total panel failure, however they do this anyway.

      Instead, the best thing to do is ask for a total refund and then simply buy it again if it is on sale for the same or better price. Then you can guarantee that you receive a factory new product.

      Use Rakuten, it's 4% for Dell monitors. Or purchase from JB-HiFi (delivery mid May) and pay with a Cashrewards (or other) JB-HiFi gift-card and the cashback should be around 3% but it cannot be any other type of generic gift card or visa according to JB support.

    Mixed first impression, not enjoying the 16:9 coming from an UW. While somethings look amazing (running helldivers in hdr), in other things it can look really bad, like viewing on twitch.

        well ACL only covers you for 1 year, and for major faults. One day over 1 year, dell could just call everything wear and tear. but yes pro support doesn't seem necassary

          Previous precedent they set was the expected lifetime for a $2k TV was 7 years

        Dell states that it does include burn in but the catch is they often try to provide refurb models if you claim under their warranty.

        If this ever happens push for a NEW replacement and argue your rights under the ACL that supersede any explicit warranties that Dell offer
