    Cooling System
    Gel Cooling

Lol what is this? Thermal paste? That's not a 'cooling system'. All systems come with thermal paste pre-applied.

    • -2

Have you heard of Liquid Cooling?
Well Gel Cooling is the same concept, but the liquid has been replaced by gel.
That's the easiest way I can put it.
      So no it's thermal paste.

      • Pretty sure you still call it liquid cooling, though.

I'm sorry, but this sounds like pure rubbish. I would really like some source on this cooling gel system, would kill most pumps in short order

  • -2

the resolution on that laptop.. ugh, yuck.

  • +3

The laptop specs are pretty good, but the desktop is kinda crap.

    • -1

I agree; looks like they're just trying to clear out old stock.
You can get pretty comparable desktops with current gen components for about the same.

      • +1

If you build it yourself you can easily get better specs. The 550 Ti is hardly a high end graphics card, but ~$1300 builds you a high end gaming system.

The only thing special about it is the factory liquid cooling, but what's the point of liquid cooling in a gaming system with a crap graphics card??

        • -1

You can always replace the graphics card for those more demanding games.

        • +1

So why would people buy this, when you can get this from PCCG (not to mention custom builds will be even better value). As CarbonTwelve said above, the liquid cooling is redundant, if you're only using components that don't generate a lot of heat. The aforementioned PCCG system is more suitable than yours for gaming - gaming does not require an i7, and for the majority of people, 8GB of RAM would be sufficient. The PCCG system has a 120GB SSD, and a much, much better graphics card.

  • Desktop is last gen parts with a low/mid range graphics card. Surprised its ROG branded since it'll perform so badly in games.

  • The processor of the laptop is the 2nd gen, not the 3rd, isnt it rep?

    • Yes, the i7-2600K is 2nd Gen

      • That's the desktop CPU. But yes, the laptop's 2670QM is 2nd gen, but it doesn't make a big difference.

        • Woops, my bad. Serves me right for trying to ninja-post.

    • Yes, the laptop is equipped with the 2nd Generation i7 Processor.

  • Laptop looks a bit pricey for being i7 2nd gen, low resolution and Nvidia 5xx . I'm sure it was a good laptop, but for 1.1k I'm sure there must be updated models i.e Lenovo Y580

    • Being 2nd gen doesn't make a big difference. The 560M is a good graphics chip, and it does have 2x 750GB HDDs in it which aren't typical. It also has the BluRay combo drive which is a nice bonus to have, although they're only 5400rpm I believe which is a bit of a downer.

      • it's a bit outdated for >1k, but not a bad laptop at all
