I've bought some spools from 3D Radical before. Can confirm the ABS prints well.

  • any cf petg?

Coming in a months time. We'll have PLA and PETG CF.

      • nice, got a rough price on the petg cf?

        • +1

Approximately $26-28. All depends on the shipping quote I receive, which should be soon.

          • @RAADICAL: sounds good man looking forward to giving your stuff a go.

ABS is toxic, don't print with this thing at home, please. PETG is a viable replacement in most cases.

    • There are ways to mitigate ABS/ASA fumes by printing in an enclosed printer with a decent filter like a nevermore/bentobox.
But yes, be aware of the risks. Though even PETG and PLA emit VOCs so you should be doing decent filtering and printing with good ventilation for those too.

    • What are the affect?

  • I placed my printer in one of the cheapish zip up enclosures and was printing ABS outside on my undercover deck. It maintained the great fantastically (printing in a Melbourne winter) and the prints turned out great! Mitigated the fumes risk, so long as you open up the enclosure and let it vent prior to taking parts of the build plate.

    • But once you open your enclosure those fumes will go directly to your lungs, no?

Nothing a long stick and a fan can't deal with :-P

      • Lol - yes, but that's why I did you need to open it and let it vent (without breathing it in).

  • Since there's so much chat about fumes already … anyone know if there's a "safe" time for the worst of the VOCs to have dissipated, broken down, etc.?

So something like for example printing the thing then leaving it there overnight. My printer is in a spare room.

Everything on Google just repeats the usual about toxicity and ventilation but never about with time.

    • It would depend on too many factors to generalise I think. VOCs are not just one thing. Best to just get a VOC sensor to know your specifics.

I believe that if you open a window and put a fan to blow air in the room in an hour, it will be free of those particles.
