  • Long live Acer Liquid MT.

If you were able to buy it. :(

  • This appears to be a permanent price drop, or a clearance of the outdated Galaxy Ace. It's getting replaced by the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus which sells for $199 locked to Telstra.

Nothing earth shattering though, the main improvements are mainly the internal memory upgrade (from 250MB to 3GB) and the 200mhz bump in CPU speed.

    • Not sure but DSE said $30 off but those unlocked model still doing $249.

But is there a way to unlock the Ace Plus yet?

    • Galaxy Ace plus isn't much of an upgrade but the ace 2 looks good. The Ace 2 doesn't seem to be available in Aus yet

  • Nothing too special tbh.. The Ace regularly goes on sale for this price.

I picked one up from AusPost in Feb-March for $150 unlocked & it either came with telstra prepaid or optus prepaid, can't remember. Also seen it drop to this price many times after at numerous stores.

With the Galaxy Ace Plus coming out, I'd expect this model to drop down to $100 or around $120 at least.

  • The battery life in this phone is inane but I think there are much better choices at this price. I just sold one of these a few days ago.

  • I had one for a fortnight and returned it as it kept freezing up.

I was wondering at the time though why the Telstra one was so much cheaper than Optus, but in reading some of the above comments it seems the optus version comes already unlocked??

    • I bought both the Optus 'prepaid' version (mine) and the Boost (owned by optus) 'prepaid' version(wife). Both versions are locked to the optus network and both have their own preloaded network software…

As far as I am aware, you can't unlock the phone unless you pay a fee to do so…So not really worth it…But I may try the Whirlpool forum to see how I can unlock it…

  • I've owned one for since the start of this year (and I bought one for the wife, who I have recently upgraded her to a S3). The Ace is a 'crappy phone' and keeps freezing due to it's small internal memory and most Android software wanting to store itself there (and not in the micro SD memory). My advice is to avoid this phone if you can. the only good thing about it is the 5MP camera, everything else is mediocre (including the 'grainy' screen resolution).

    • Mine never have a freezing problem.

That year all lower end phone comes with very small internal memory and Android 2.x can only install apps on internal memory unless you root it.

  • If anyone needs help in unlocking, please send me a message… there is a software that will use your normal micro usb cable to unlock the phone, its free, and takes about 2 minutes… (I don't remember the name, but i have it saved in my email somewhere)

Having said that, if you haven't bought this phone, make sure you use it before buying… After you remove the phone from your ear, it takes about 15 seconds for the screen to activate and the end button to appear. Might not seem annoying at first…. but trust me, it gets really really irritating. It's the only phone I've gotten rid off in less than a year.

  • I should have mentioned in my last post that I picked up a sony xperia u for a very similar price, and it is a remarkable upgrade. The only good thing about the ACE is that it's still worth more on cashaphone.com.au and mazumma than the ace plus or the ace 2
