what is so bargain about this when you can get Motorola Defy+ for $99 or Atrix for $199???

  • +2

The defy+ is locked to Telstra and is not 900MHz 3G compatible and the user may not want an Android phone. They may not want to pay $199 for a phone either.

If it's not for you fine but it may appeal to others out there. The cheap end basic nokia phones are still very popular. This is the cheapest price for this phone advertised.

And like someone mentioned in the Motorola Defy+ post that they didn't have acceptable ID to purchase that phone. People won't need ID to purchase this phone.

Well "not an Android" is typically a bad thing considering the software apps, reliability and updates available unless the alternative is iOS

I think anyone who buys a Nokia smart phone like this is going to be disappointed

      • +2

You are not in touch with the common person. Note everyone wants a phone with apps. Some people think of a phone as just a phone, to make calls and to receive calls.

        • -3

those ppl are deserved to be ripped off. No more comment from me. Defy+ can be unlocked easily as mentioned in that deal post.

ID is not an issue to order it as new option has been added as mentioned by Telstra Rep.

$99 for a crap spec with crappy S40 crappy Symbian OS, 128MB RAM, crappy screen. If this is considered bargain then I have nothing else to say to those ppl.

Symbian deserved to be extinct and with these overpriced crappy products I would love to see them going bankrupt soon. Their Lumia line is also way too expensive.

If you can find a cheaper price for this phone than you have the right to say it's not a bargain. I'm not trying to justify this is a bargain based on the features of this phone, but everyone is always looking for something different.

So are you just going to come on here and slam every phone deal because some other phone has some other fancy feature, or operating system, you think is relevant to a phone, or it's pricing, that some one else may not give a damn about? If that's the case, people will get sick and tired of hearing that trash and negativity.

People is also forgetting that a S40 phone can last a week without recharge. Try this on a Android and see how many hours you get.

This is good phone for people just wanting a phone. Its a pentaband 3G as well which is a plus.

    Nokia is still out there?!

  • meh, not an android… how many apps would there be for this?

pretty niche market… someone who wants a touch screen phone but not all the apps to go with it?

    • +1

Something my old man may like. I'm going to get him one to try.

      • +1

might as well get him one with a keypad a smaller screen that has a decent battery in it, i know my ol man doesn't want a new phone just cause the older ones are easier to use and go for a week without a charge!

        • +1

Will I have the HTC ChaCha, Motorola Defy+ already at home. When I get this one he can chooose the one he likes best out of the three.

  • Edit: NVM

Correct, no QLD stores mentioned on the sheet.

$100 GPS system with voice nav and on-board maps if nothing else.
Nokia Maps is actually quite good, pity about the screen size.

    • How do they compare to Apple's new maps?

      • +2

Nokia Maps don't put their users in the wrong city……

      • No comparison at all, it's the best one I've used to date. This phone doesn't have GPS though, I was thinking of a different one.

    • +3

It does not have GPS chip. You will need an external BT GPS receiver for navigaion.

A review here… http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/Nokia-Asha-311-Review_id31…. Basically sounds like a good 'phone if it had been brought out a couple of years ago. For the same price, probably better off getting something like a Galaxy Y. If you don't want/need a smartphone, then a 'candy bar' type old school Nokia will probably do the job for a fraction of the price… (eg $29 - http://dicksmith.com.au/product/E7337/virgin-nokia-c2-01-pre…)

  • +1

Another option if you want an android touch screen around $100 and don't mind second hand, the HTC Desire is still a pretty good phone and has plenty of mod support -
    http://www.ebay.com.au/ctg/HTC-Desire-A8183-Brown-Smartphone…
    But the Defy+ wins,brand new for $100.
