Thats not a good price considering the earlier 46cm metal deck ones sold at price.

    • Agreed, steeldeck version for the same price which incl. the 2x batteries

      • The same price ?? all I can see on the Bunnings website is 2 steel decks , 1 is $499 the other is $599 where are you seeing it being the same price as this one??

    • +2

It also replaces the previous one that was $350, only improvements are that it has a mulch plug and a 10mm longer blade - https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-36v-2-x-18v-370mm-cord…

Not sure that's worth an extra $50, let alone, $80. I got the old one for $250 as well (when they price matched Aldi on a 36V mower)

      • +2

Agree, the 250 was a killer deal. The other probably more important thing is this is brushless. The motor should have quite more power for thick grass.

  • I'm already in the Ozito ecosystem and am massively keen on an electric mower, but I'm really thinking I need to spend about double this to get the mower I actually need. I have no interest in an objective downgrade to my old 2-stroke and am willing to wait for the right one. Am I on right train of thought? I've been looking at the Ego's.

    • +3

I've been looking at the Ego's.

I heard that @jv has an big ego mower. Maybe he can share his view.

    • +2

I have one of these, or very similar, and I hate it.
I had to strip the handles down and fix the contacts as it kept cutting out, It doesn't clear the grass if there is any moisture at all, and just keeps getting clogged up.
Even dry it doesn't clear it that well.

And it struggles through any slightly dense grass, like a week and a half growing and it's a struggle to cut.

I bought an Ego whipper snipper last year to replace a crappy Ryobi one, and I love it, so will eventually get an Ego mower to match, and get one packed with a blower.

      • +2

The Ozito metal deck ones are good tho, plenty of videos showing that.

Also do you mind sharing which whipper snipper you had? Planning to buy one, but will avoid if not good.

        • I had an older version of this one https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-25-30cm-cordless-l…
It was fine, but just lacking in power at 18v, not sure if the brushless version was much better, it was perfectly capable for small areas and light work, just didn't like anything too dense.
Also, it is not great if you are tall, I found it very uncomfortable to use as I am 195cm tall.

      • Was your Ryobi line trimmer 18V or 36V? I'm looking at an electric line trimmer and otssing up between EGO and the Ryobi 36V brushless one

        • Ryobi was 18v.
My Ego is a beast! It scares me a little haha

FWIW My steeldeck version was initially pretty good but it soon started to struggle cutting through my evil kikuyu. I found that sharpening the blades (with something like this: https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-3-6v-cordless-chain-and-bl… or https://www.bunnings.com.au/dremel-sharpening-attachment-kit…) made a huge difference, along with emptying the catcher when it passes about 2/3 full.

  • can i return if it doesnt cut my thick grass? got the Sir Grange Zoysia

    • +2

      That would probably fit under:

The product is not fit for its intended purpose

within the Bunnings Return Policy which is under "Other returns/exchanges". So might not get a refund, but could get a credit.

      • +3

You are entitled to a replacement, refund or repair under the link you provided from Bunnings.
You would be well within your consumer rights to ask for a refund.
I have found Bunnings pretty good with their return/refund policy.

      • might ask when i go this weekend, my petrol struggles so im worry this ev wont do it

Bunnings have four 2 x 18V PXC lawn mowers available:

thanks for the info, looks like only the bottom 2 is brushless

    • +1

There is the 499 ones without self propelled, but that seems to be going out of stock everywhere.

    • +1

Have the 460mm steel deck, it's really good. Had my old steel deck one replaced after 3 years after a…mystery electrical fault occurred.

  • perfect for maintaining lawn areas up to 450m² with the batteries provided

Meaning if the grass is low and conditions are perfect you should be able to mow it.
