Global Ikasu Knife Set $350 in Strathfield NSW (Postage Varies - $11.85 to Syd)

31

Global Ikasu 7 piece knife set normally goes for about $400 from the usual suspects. $350 from this mob. Nice.

I've been using this set for a couple of years, highly recommended provided you take care of them and keep them sharp (get yourself a sharpener, I use the minosharp, considering buying something better).

Pretty interesting store btw - if you are into hardcore chefery. Molecular gastronomy shenanigans.

Alternative if you don't like Global: From what I can tell, the main competition to look at would be Wusthof. Check out Cutlery and More if you are after those (good prices, free sharpener and chopping board if you spend $150. Shipping is $90. http://www.cutleryandmore.com/

i swear i paid around $260-$270 for this set from myer during one of their regular 30%/40% off kitchenware sales…will check my records at work tomorrow…

($270 is 40% off $450…that might have been it. it was a couple years ago.)

Can confirm I paid $269 from myer this time last year, to be fair though the set is easily worth $350

      • true. if you need it now, this looks like a decent price (compared to everten, peters of kensington, etc).

but if you can wait, wait for a myer sale.

      • Worth yes… Bargain NO

    • I paid $290 from an online store, that is a great price for myer.

OP's price is no bargain…. wait for the sales and pick up this exact set for under $300.
i did about 12 months ago from myers.

      • Agree, No Bargain

  • Damn that's an expensive "bargain", but global knives are one of the best you can get!

  • Paid 299 from this store couple of months ago

  • This is about the regular special high price for this set, bought this same set 5 or 6 years ago and it was about $325, but have seen it less.

Many shops will discount Global, you can even save on postage and buy from Victorias basement, they would be about this price, maybe less.

  • Vic Basement is $400. Yeah, cheaper than other current prices (but only by $50). I've never seen the Myer sales being worthwhile (50% off scanpan and still above Vic Basement!) but then again, I haven't paid attention to knives.

  • Myer has $600 tag. Assuming the price hasn't jumped up, $269 would be 55% off - congrats sacktap410.

I have a Global knife, and I can highly vouch for these knives quality, definitely the best knife I have used in my entire life. Stay sharp for so long and built well. Has never need to be sharpened yet for a few years now. Highly recommended!!

    • Agree the Global knives are very good quality build and very balance when you grip it in your hand.
I have a Global knife as well and cook everyday, you properly need a Global knife sharpener to keep the knife at the like-new-sharp to have a easy paper-cut of potato. :)
I will say, sharpen your knife when you look direct to your knife's blade and can see a light reflection line. (If you cannot see a light reflection line, you knife is stay in very sharp status.)

      • My global knives are so sharp that if you stare at the blade for too long they burn your retinas.
